Dark Waters was an interesting and intriguing tale to say the least. I found the subject matter unique, full of thrilling moments and passionate liaisons, and the fantastic world of Rachel and Ethan to be enhanced with the paranormal activity that surrounded them. Alex Prentiss uses the supernatural world to spin a story full of unbelievable characters, distinctive plots, and steamy sex. While this is part of a series and it would benefit the reader to peruse the first tale about R...more

In general I felt this second installment was not quite as successful as the first book in the series, Night Tides.
This was not a terribly bad book: we discovered a few more things about our two main characters and had them progress in their relationship in a way that was, overall, believable.
Where I felt a bit let down by this sequel was in the explanation of the origins of the lake spirits.
**Spoiler space (for those who have not read the book)**

After reading Dark Waters, I have to admit, I actually like it better than the first book, Night Tides. Dark Waters explains more about the lake spirits and how they come to be. Two of the lakes are of good spirits and one of evil. I also like to say, that the first story was mentioned quite often as to remind the reader about past current events so they are not completely lost in this story. Although some chapters are a bit far fetched, It does, however, sheds some light on a lot of what is go...more
Dark Waters is book two is Prentiss' Lady of the Lakes series. I loved it just as much as Night Tides. This installment had less romance and erotica, but focused a lot on the character growth and delved deeper into the Native American lore. The mystery element was solid and engrossing and left me guessing to the very end. Prentiss tied up the ends nicely with this novel, so I can only hope there is another book. It could end here plot-wise and readers wouldn't be left hanging; however, it left m...more
