While the quick snap of love at first sight is a common occurrence in paranormal romances, falling in "trust" usually takes the span of an entire book or series. I would have guessed that a heroine with the magical ability to sense lies would have a fast track through the trust building process, but ENTICE ME AT TWILIGHT proved me wrong.

This fourth instalment of the Doomsday Brethren series was easy to pick up and get right into despite having read the previous book a year ago. Shayla Black has delivered a welcome return to the world of the Brethren, a group of Wizards keeping the secrets of magic and fighting the evil Matthias’s plans to cause anarchy with his, um, Anarki. The world that Black has created follows some of the usual formulas of a successful paranormal series (a hero and heroine finding their happily ever after,...more
3 1/2 stars. It probably would help to read the first books in this series before this one since there are multiple arcane rules governing the Doomsday Brethren's actions and the struggles with the evil sorcerers who are trying to destroy the Brethren and take over the world. This tale centers around Simon Northam, Duke of Hurstgrove who, although active in the Brethren, has not managed to inform his family that he became a wizard on his 30th birthday. The evil sorcerer Mathias needs an "Untouch...more
Did you catch a theme with this Doomsday Brethren series? It's AWESOME! Shayla Black gives us Book 4 in the series - Entice Me at Twilight. I try not to give too much of the plot away in my reviews, I'm not sure I can continue to hold back. You'll see from the prior 3 books, she packs action, erotica, and suspense into each book.

Review: Entice Me at Twilight is an action packed, emotionally intense novel that will enchant the heart of the romance reader. Shayla Black has created great characters within a plot that will keep the reader deeply entrenched with the Doomsday Brethren’s ongoing battle against an evil sorcerer named Mathias. The building romance will touch your heart with the emotional turmoil that the main characters, Simon and Felicia, bring to life as they must find a way to outsmart the nefarious Mathias,...more

I loved Entice Me at Twilight! Why? Because the whole story rocks! Shayla Black is a master story teller as she returns to her complex and super sexy paranormal series, the Doomsday Brethren. In this series there are wizards and magic that most of the human population are unaware of. Unfortunately, one wizard named Matthias is determined to win absolute control. He has recruited other wizards and amassed an inhuman...more

I enjoy the Doomsday Brethren series due to the unique paranormal beings in the books. The characters are wizards, witches, and an enormous Arthurian warrior (love the way Marrock speaks.) It’s a very interesting grouping. I love to get my hands on something different. Entice Me at Twilight and the introduction of the Untouchable is set up in Mated from the Haunted by Your Touch anthology. Tabitha’s family has hidden the Untouchable family tree and its most recent birth, along with the identity...more
A big 4 1/2 stars for me. I REALLY liked this book, it was a good addition to a fabulous series. Shayla takes you on an adventure with Witch's, Wizard's and really evil bad guy's where love conquers all. I love all the characters in this series. The imagination Shayla uses on them is fantastic. The heat was very good in the love scenes but I wish there would have been one or two more, LOL! The thing I liked least about this book was it took the heroine a bit too long to totally trust and let the...more

Well, I like the Doomsday Brethren series. It isn't top of my list, but I find them solidly entertaining. They don't stay with me long, but I enjoy them while I am reading them, and this one was no exception.
This is Harry Potter for big girls, with creepy zombies, a murdering, raping bad guy on the loose, and a brotherhood of wizards devoted to saving mankind. I still have a snicker when one of them whips out the wand, but other than that it is like pretty much strai...more

Another fantastic read though some bits of the story are more enjoyable than others. If I have to ask myself why, I guess it's because the lack of Shock. I think he only made an appearance in the beginning of the book.
And the death of Tynan was a bit puzzling. As far as I'm concerned, Shock is part of the Brethren and even though he had hand delivered Tynan to Mathias to make his role as a double agent convincing, Shock's role in Tynan's death remained a mystery. I doubt Shock would just stand b...more

Sexy Simon, how unfortunate for you that your destined mate happens to be emotionally unavailable. You're smart, privileged, and a ripped warrior wizard committed to keeping a madman from gaining power; further, your emotional IQ is remarkably high. But to be stuck playing therapist to a woman suffering from a bad case of emotional constipation when you need to be mated to someone more your equal is sad, indeed.Did I skim? Yes
Wil I re-read? I might skim through my favorite parts.

I began this series with book #3 and felt lost during several aspects of the plot. It wasn't enough to hinder the story in Possess Me at Midnight though. It was mostly just some background stuff that intrigued me or left me with questions. I didn't blame the author for the lack of back story however. But after reading book 4 and gaining a great deal more information of previous events I'm changing my tune a little. She did a lot of world building in this book but perhaps I'm just conceding...more

Ok, so I was really looking forward to this book because I've had a little crush on Duke for a few books now....on one hand, I adored spending more quality time with him, getting to know him better. On the other hand, I found Felicia extremely tedious. I understand that she's damaged and guarded, but really...when you have Simon (Duke) looking at you heatedly, expressing his love and devotion, dump your crap and jump on board! The overall story progressed nicely, and I liked the drama and advent...more
Rich, handsome Doomsday Brethren Simon Northam aka Duke meets his destined mate in this installment. The story begins with the revelation that Duke's magical signature has been altered by an Untouchable. A rare being in the world of magickind that has the ability to negate magic. He is further shocked to find that this unknown person is also valuable to Mathasis. The problem, he is not sure who it could be. He had only been to his home to meet his brother's intended bride, Felicia and those who...more
Duke and Felicia's story - I loved Duke a.k.a Simon - he was such a good hero. Sexy, caring, thoughtful, he loved with a passion and fought for what he wanted. I would have given this a five except I got a little sick of Felicia talking about not being worthy and being sorry and coming between two brothers. I wanted to shout at her to turn around and have a good look at the gorgeous man who adores her and just shut up.
Well now that I have that off my chest - the storyline was very good. I loved...more

It was a enjoyable read, and like the other books in the Doomsday Bretheren it was a great addition to the whole series.
This book is about Duke (Simon), the dangerously sexy bachelor in Britain, who found his true mate who happens to be his brother's fiancee and she is a powerful force to be reckon with in Duke's "world". Complicate relationships, aye?

Let me start off by saying it wasn't a bad book, and I like the authors writing. I just didn't care much for the h. I can't stand for the h to constantly talk about her fear to love so she's not hurt. I really hate it when its during the whole book. page after page of it was just to much. I know I'm asking for the H and h to fall madly in love within days, but seriously they can cast freaking spells. Why is falling in love right away so far fetched? That was my only complaint. This won't stop me...more
This book is about Duke and his HEA. I wasn't sure that I would like his book as well as some of the others since I wasn't really sure how I felt about Duke. He hasn't been as well rounded out as some of the other warriors in the story and he doesn't have the kind of lead in that created an interest in the other stories. However, I really did enjoy Duke's story. There wasn't as much interaction in a direct manner from our view point as readers with Mathias, but the underlying thread and reason f...more
I have loved reading these books and getting to know the Wizards that make up the Doomsday Brethren. This book is my favorite out of all them so far though. I love Duke, he plays the part of spoiled, uncaring, playboy, but he is anything but that. Once the layers are peeled back and he lets Felicia into his heart, everything changes. I will admit I was a little hesitant to read the book at first since in the summary it says Duke steals Felicia away from his brother at their wedding, but once you...more
Minutes before her wedding to Simon Notham, Duke of Hurtsgrove’s brother Mason, Felicia Safford is questioning if this is the right move. She has just discovered that her future husband is in love with her and that was not part of the bargain! Whatever world is beyond planet TSTL is where this woman lives. I found her logic mind-boggling. That foolishness aside this was a very readable, very enjoyable installment of the series. This unique and fun series is reminiscent of Arthurian legends as it...more

"Entice Me at Twilight" is book 4 in Shayla Black's Doomsday Brethren story. For those not familiar with the books, the Brethren are a group of good wizards who have banded together to fight off the evil sorcerer Matthias --and to keep a powerful book, called the Doomsday Diary, away from him.
Simon is a member of the Brethren. As our story begins, he is preparing to attend his human half-brother's wedding. He is attracted to the bride, Felicia. But he doesn't realize that she feels only deep fr...more

This is the fourth installment of the Doomsday Brethren series and now the battle between the Brethren and Matthias is in full swing. He's been holding nothing back and now wants more. And that more is that he wants to bring Morgana La Fey back to life.
But to do that he will need a special piece of the puzzle. He needs an Untouchable. Those humans are rare, come once in many years, and render anyone with magical powers around them well.... power...more

The Doomsday Brethren continues to fight against the malicious wizard Mathias and they have just learned of his recent plan that could mean their end. Mathias intends to resurrect a witch who's heart is as black and evil as his own. Morganna le Fay. It is easier said than done. An Untouchable, a rare human that debilitates magic just by being near, is needed to safely make it past the magical traps that are in Morganna's tomb.

This series is SO good! It's the story of Duke and his mate, an "untouchable" who can stop all magic from the magickind around her. Mathias is back and meaner than ever, trying to resurrect Morganna La Fey. He wants to use the duke's untouchable woman to get into the evil witch's tomb. What will it take for this guy to die, for crying out loud?! The love story is hot and the saga of the war between magickind and the Doomsday Brethren continues. There's some tragedy along the way and the book end...more

I was unsure how to rate this book. There were some parts that I really, really liked....and some parts that I struggled through. First off, I looooove Shayla's writing and the way she totally transports me into the Doomsday world. I think my issue was the inner struggles that the characters suffered. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for knowing details about someone before bei...more
One of my favorite books of this series. I enjoyed the romance, loved Simon, enjoyed the suspense portion of the story (kind of reminded me of the first 5 minutes of the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark"), and the interaction with the other characters from earlier novels. I liked the heroine and thought she had every right to be hesistant to accept her feelings for Duke when they only knew each other for a few days. I only wished we didn't have to hear her go on and on about it. It seemed like we...more
I have been looking forward to this book as Duke has always been the voice of reason within these misfits and I wanted to see him thrown off, and boy was he. The woman that throws his sedate life into overdrive crazy is none other than his brother's fiance, the wedding itself becomes a battle ground.
Felicia took the news of wizards and magic in stride, not freaking out, which surprised me, I am not sure if I would be able to handle life altering info like that. The chemistry between Felicia and...more

Ms. Black never lets me down! The Doomsday Brethren series just keeps getting better and better. Edge of your seat suspense with nail biting mystery and white hot sex! What more is there to want? Beside death to Mathias and freedom for magickind! Next up ... Anka and her beast Lucan! And hopefully some insight to the mysterious Shock. The man who we have just to determine whether he is a good guy, bad guy or half vamp!! The wait is going to drive me batshit crazy!!
