A nice textbook on Western Civilization (up until 1740). Depth in some places, a bit of glossing-over in others (but necessarily so). I enjoyed it, and didn't end up selling this one back. Carry it in my car in case I end up having to wait someplace; a great pick-up-and-read-a-bit book to have around. It is kind of heavy for a paperback, though!

This was the first text book from college I finished reading for pleasure.
Began reading this book thinking "Recent history is fine, but how did it all start? How did the countries of Europe form? This book covers a huge amount of history in short bites. And it has lots of maps. I love maps.

A general account of western civilization and history, very intriguing.
Jessica
Very informative, but still an easy read. Not bad as far as textbooks go.
Bayley
