Written in Old English. The Introduction gives a brief history of this publication.

I want to be fair to this book and not sure how to even rate it. It starts off with a nicely embellished history, moves onto the rules of governing a Freemason lodge and finishes with some songs and ode's. Probably the best part is the rules of governing a lodge, mostly because of how liberal and progressive those ideas were for 1717, ideas like Religious Tolerance, Equal voting rights, and rotating chairs of authority. A very dull and dreadful read. In case one is obsessed with every detail of how meetings of masonic lodges are held, notwithstanding the fact being written in a dry and tedious manner, then sure, one would probably find this book readable.
