I Ching: The Oracle of the Cosmic Way is a book that shows two layers of text, side by side, one layer being the feudal overlays over the original oracle text, the other showing the 'Cosmic Way' - the Cosmic Principles that are the subject of eac ...more

I have several other of Carol Anthony's books on the I-Ching and find her insights invaluable. My copy of her book " A Guide to the I-Ching" is so worn from repeated use the pages have fallen out and I've moved onto my second copy.

If you are interested in understanding yourself and developing yourself by way of reflection on the I-Ching her books are priceless. They are not just books you read once from cover to cover but books you refer to over and over again for insight and wisdom. Her unders

Carol Anthony's translation is the best there is. I have used Wilhelm, of course, plus all the other translations, and this is the best. The language is accessible, the advice is applicable in many areas, and I have found this to be the only edition of the I Ching I use now. I recommend it highly to anyone who has used the oracle or who is new to it. Anthony's other books about the I Ching are excellent too.

My favorite book on the I Ching. It's easy to understand and explains the ancient translations for the modern day world.

“Receiving this hexagram can be a signal for a person to reflect on where he is looking for guidance. Is he looking outward to the “ancient wisdom” promoted by the collective ego? Or, is he turning his attention within by asking the Sage that speaks through the I Ching to provide him with the insight he needs to find the correct way for himself? This hexagram wants to make him aware of the danger that comes from looking without, and of the benefit that comes from looking within. What he gets from looking without, or to others for guidance, is only the appearance of reality and other people’s ideas about the nature of the Cosmos. This knowledge is not the same as what he learns by communicating with the invisible Sage, and thereby experiencing for himself the nature of the Cosmos.” 0 likes
“Change is movement confined to the outer plane of experience, while transformation is movement on the inner plane, to which the outer plane responds spontaneously.” 0 likes
