Opinião no blogue The Mistery's Garden: Opinião | Resgate, de Danielle Steel

In many ways this is a typical Danielle Steel book, but in others it's a bit different. I enjoyed it overall, and was anxious to see how the story would unfold. The last 100 or so pages had me so riveted that I ended up staying awake until nearly 6 am to finish it.

The negatives: Ms. Steel has a really annoying habit of repeating herself, over and over. I find it to be insulting to the intelligence of the reader. Often she repeats almost the same exact sentence within the same paragraph. It reall

This is actually one of my favorite books I have read from Danielle Steel...It is more complex than most of her books and you have to pay more attention at first to get how all the different characters tie together. It's a true book of love, redemption and sacrifice. I really liked this one.

Reader, Ron McLarty, does a fine job. Police lose their own to save a kidnapped child and one loses his marriage. Long read, perhaps, overlong. 2006 ...more

I gotta admit. DS is good at BS! But then again, this is not the first time a piece of crap is a "bestseller". Who says shit doesn't sell! Half way through and I've had enough. Good thing is, I bought it at a fire-sale price (less than $1).

First few pages were actually good. Kind of hooking the reader in. But then all I saw were loopholes and half-baked sub-plots and it started feeling like Danielle Steel thinks her readers are idiot.

Now, speaking of loopholes...

I bought this book in a second hand shop, on holiday, after finding another brilliant book by the same author on the 'leave a book you liked' shelf in our hired cottage. I was rather disappointed- I spent years trying to read the book, and failing after a few chapters, primarily because there were, in my eyes, too many similar characters, and I was having difficulty in differentiating between them...
Not so long ago, I decided it was time I defeated the book. I settled myself down, determined to

I believe this is the first book I've read by Danielle Steel. I enjoyed the story, however, either her writing style is annoying or the editor didn't do a very good job. Practically every sentence had multiple commas. I mean EVERY sentence. I believe many of the commas were used incorrectly. Also, she repeated a good deal of her information, often in the exact words just used. I would find myself skipping over sentences because I had already read them. I couldn't do that much, though, because I ...more

I will categorize this as one of them, the kind that drives you into the story's backdrop, like you were watching a movie unfold in front of you with structured, well-knit events strung seamlessly together, albeit not sacrificing on the emotional aspect of the story. I have always loved reading Steel's novels, but this is the first one I got around to reviewing. The novel is centred on the kidnapping of a child, the events fore and after but that alone is not the theme. The meteoric rise and fal ...more

Recommends it for: Anyone looking for intensity and love
Recommended to Kelly by: No one. I bought it 3 days after buying "Miracle," also by Steel.

Within three days last August, I had grown interested in and bought two Danielle Steel books: this one and "Miracle." After finishing "Miracle," which I will discuss in my review of that book, I moved onto this one.

I became somewhat interested through the first several chapters, but what really hooked me was Peter's dilemma to either hold one of Fernanda's children for ransom or risk his own children dying. That was when things really started to get interesting.

For me, this book is devided to 2 parts : the first third and the other two.
Well, I didn't like the first part. It was very slow, and there was no action, nothing. We are introduced to the main caracters, their past and present, each story told individually. In fact, I was enjoying the read at first, the style was good but as I kept reading I was getting more and more bored. I think that it was so detailed, more than needed and I believe that there were repetitive parts; like the author was tell

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. At times the storyline seemed fanciful but having never had the wealth or ever likely to have the wealth talked about, the kidnapping idea made sense in the end. The relationship between the characters as always with any Danille Steele book was excellent and believeable.
It was a good read!!

One of the best so far

This is not Danielle Steel's usual book. This has suspense and drama with a little romance. I enjoyed this book all the way through

Ransom is one of Danielle Steel's better works. It's almost as if she has an alleged ghostwriter, the ghost writer was Sidney Sheldon's distant relative. The last part held my attention. The ending was infused with Danielle's Steel's romantic touch. This is worth taking the time to read.

While I am not a fan of Danielle Steele's general writing style (too fluffy) I did enjoy most of this book. The story was focused on bad men doing bad things and she rose to the occasion with more gritty writing than other books of hers that I have read. A good story line.

Not really a big fan of Danielle Steel's work, but some feel the need to get her books for me to read. This book is no exception. It lacked any kind of suspense and you pretty much knew what was going to happen before it did. Big disappointment.
This is the first Steel book I've ever read and only a couple there after. I did enjoy this. The title says it all, it's about a ransom, a ransom gone wrong. The POV splits between different characters involved and not involved.

I really enjoy Danielle Steel's way of writing. This is a good story and involves four people who all come together through situations beyond their control maybe call it fate. Peter is being released from prison after being incarcerated for drugs the minimal amount of time served being four years and 3 months. He had started selling to his friends first but then he got hooked onto drugs as well. The story then elaborates on another felon who is released at the same time this one is a murderer. A ...more

Not a stand out Danielle Steel, wasn't bad. Didn't feel like the repetition was as obvious but it was still there. I felt I was told loads that how nice a guy Ted was and how he and his wife were more friends than lovers. Steel wants you to like her characters, which is why things that wouldn't normally be acceptable are suddenly fine. Like a man thinking about leaving his wife for a grieving widow ;0

I really didn't like the name Fernanda and it bugged me every time I read that name! It was a
The last of the Danielle Steele left from my MIL's house!

Although I don't care for her style of writing, the story behind it was engaging.

Awful. Boring. Repetitive. Do. Not. Read.
O Informador

This is another good read by Danielle Steel.

Fernanda is a stronger woman that most. She loses her husband to a believed suicide, just after he makes and proceeds to lose billions of dollars. They story tells of Fernanda and her children's journey once Allen is gone. What will they do? To make matters worse, 4 jail birds and one sadistic bastard decide to kidnap one or all of her kids believing she's still got all of the lost money. Throughout the ordeal, she learns to trust and depend on a poli

I loved listening to the audiobook, and I never get into audiobooks. But there was just something about this book that made me breeze through it. Maybe because it was Danielle Steel and I am so into her books no matter the format. *Shrugs*

Anyway, while not my favorite Danielle Steel book it definitely was up there. I love how the characters stories intertwined. Will definitely be purchasing the hard copy for my Daniel Steel collection.

When I first started this book, I stopped reading it on the 2nd page. It seemed boring to me, and since I had one of the older versions of the novel, the cover wasn't very interesting to me either. But when I decided to give it a 2nd chance, I got more into it, and it turned out to be a great book! So just a warning, don't be fooled by the boring looking cover (if you have an older version) and the beginning may seem kind of boring, but once you get more into it, its a great story. Also in the s ...more

Good book, different Danielle Steele style. Once you sort through the character's it pulls you in and you never know what is around the corner. Still the bit of romance.
