I really liked the basic idea for this one. But it lost me after a couple chapters. Feels underwhelming, not many characters, not much worldbuilding.

I like the cover and the premise. But so far, that's all.
I'm surprised by the high rating so I'm struggling to read more.
The dialogues all feel like I've read them before. No surpisses in any of the exchanges - between the sisters or at the ball.
It feels very unoriginal. Lots of telling not showing. Cliches abound. Characterization is very thin. Th...more

I liked the premise and the main characters in this book. At many times in the book, the audience is treated to stories since Sondra apparently loves been narrated to, which at times makes it feel a little Arabian Nightish (though just a little). Although the stories did add a little charm to it and were entertaining to hear, it was a tad annoying to have the main character crib for stories every now and then. The writing and character portrayal is in keeping with a young audience, if only for t...more

Job well done on a debut novel! If you like romantic fantasy featuring a strong heroine, you won't be disappointed by this one. I purchased this title after reading the sample chapters from the author's website, and I'm so very glad I did. At its core, this book is the untraditional story of a princess and a dragon (Sondra and Tolmac) and their growing love for one another, yet, it is so much more than that. The cast of characters is wonderful, and the author takes her time giving us a glimpse o...more

I really enjoyed this story. It is such a funky idea. A princess who doesn’t believe in magic (or magical creatures) goes and insults herself a wizard and gets turned into a dragon. COOL right!

Princess Casiondra Falanell Cristalona Ariva – Sondra – used to believe in Magic until her sisters played a trick on her when she was young. And, rather than be hurt the way she was again Sondra has shut herself off from all thing magical. Instead she work s to find logical explanations for the things tha...more

I'm fairly certain the reason I enjoyed this book so much was because the one I read before this one was utterly horrible. It could also be the dragons since I'm a big dragon fan. I would also note that I graded(Wow, doesn't that make me sound like the teacher that I'm not?) this book on teen/young adult standards. 'The Princess's Dragon' was not by any stretch a difficult read for me and is one I would recommend for teenagers primarily because it's clean. Sure, there's some violence and blood i...more

The Princess dragon, is a very mature and well written book. It was beautiful and never held back anything, none of that subtle, OR blatant subtext of 'CELIBACY TILL THE FREAKING END'. Nor was it a, SEX SEX SEX kind of book either. It was very enjoyable to read, the plotline was strong, the characters even stronger, and every twist and turn was well thought out. The world the characters lived in was well-described and developed, and I was never reading the book thinking, 'What the hell's going o...more

4,5 stars from me.

This book was a gread reading-adventure.
First, the language was great. The author really knows how to tell such a special story in a special, well-thought of language. It really does fit the world of Sondra and the characters good.
Second: The story. It is a special story, and even with the ending a bit cheesy (because of that I could only give 4,5 stars and not 5 whole stars) it was still great. Some parts really reminded me of a fairytale, but this story is not for children (i...more

Very entertaining read. I read it in one sitting because I simply couldn't put it down! In addition, the author is very talented with words. I definitely recommned this book to anybody!

While this book is based on a good idea and has a nice writing style, the total randomness of the story line has dropped my note from 4 stars to 2.

It is a very frustating read.

I absoloutely loved this book, it's amazingly fantastic. The writing was captivating and lyrical and the characters were fully developed and wonderful; the storyline and concept were what really drew me in at the start. This book is original and well-thought out with an amazing cast of characters and a gorgeous love story. I could barely put my kindle down and I had to force myself to go to sleep at 3 in the morning. I would recommend this book to anybody as its so enjoyable and fun. I would pay...more

My 17 yr old daughter said this book is an enjoyable 5-stars (she read it all at once!) and now she wants to read the sequel. I wish I could give it to her, but alas, we have to wait! Recommended!

This author can write. This book is stuffed full of detail and the story was wonderful. I loved all the characters and the growth of these characters through the book. Ms. Trombley put so much into the book, it was almost overwhelming. I can't wait to see what else she writes in the future since this was quite a debut for an author.

The book is a fantasy romance. While it has references to sex, and some "war violence", I think it is still appropriate for an older teen as well.

The premises is decent but the novel is not really that good. The novel really has no coherence and tended to wander from one set piece to another. Characterization is paper thin and uninteresting. I was surprised how high people rated this. I think people are just fooling themselves into believing this is decent because its not.

I liked the book, but the part about Derek's past could have been left out. I wasn't sure why I needed to know that he used to have a crush on Elona, Shona older sister and that now he loved Shona. All I got out of that was that he could hold a grudge. I felt sorry for him some of the time, but he could be a real jerk.

At first the beginning was a bit hard to get into, because of the slow pace, and I didn't think I would ever get around to finishing the book. But then it picked up, and I enjoyed it (though it was rather predictable).

I honestly can't bring myself to finish this book. BORING!! Sorry!!

WOW!! I loved this book! I loved Sondra and how from the moment she mets Tomalc you can feel the chemistry these two characters have. A few chapters focused on the batle prep and her family which I kinda would've prefered in just one chapter instead of 4 but it still was awesome with a great ending.
Zoe
I love Sondra and Tolmac's story but the narrative was just jumpy.
Lesa
Really enjoyed this book. it had everything: princesses, wizards, dragons, handsome warriors. The ending left me wanting more and thank goodness there is a second book in this series.
Zoe
An excellent read that was original and compelling. My only gripe is that the pace slowed when we switched to Derek's perspective. I hope to read more about this pair!
Annie
The writing is short of juvenile. It has a great plot, but I think this book is more suited for a cross between childrens and young-adult.
