First of all the meanings of the rating stars are not as descriptive as I wish they could be.

This book was effective but not in the way the author would prefer it to be.
If one is looking for a prescription on how to "save" America by destroying all that the author claims to value, then this book is a recipe for doing so.
I am not one to claim that there is no truth in some of her observations, and I sympathize with the experiences that led to her beliefs, but Bri More...

In Because They Hate, Brigitte Gabriel describes her idyllic childhood as a Christian in Lebanon and her teen years spent with her aged parents in a bomb shelter there during hostilities between Lebanon & Israel in the 1970s. She describes her perception of the destruction of her birth country by Moslems.

She makes the case that Islam is an extremely acquisitive ideology with world domination in mind – not peaceful coexistence. Gabriel goes on to advise us about threats to western More...

I love talking to people of other cultures and faiths to hear how their experiences have differed from my own. I think it somewhat fills my desire and curiosity to travel at no expense.

I had little knowledge of Lebanese history or even interest in differentiating it from other surrounding Arab cultures. I did not know that Christianity was allowed at anytime but Brigitte attended a Catholic elementary school. The war she experienced forever changed Lebanese way of life.

This was an excellent book that makes one think about what we are doing in America and if we are politically correcting ourselves to our own downfall when it comes to the war against radical Islam. The author's own story is very telling about the differences between free people and those who are not. Although not a "can't put it down" kind of book, I really enjoyed the story and the information that it contained.

Although this book gives insight into the life of one who was personaly hunted and sought out by Muslim extremists, the book is very bitter, full of anger, and one can easily tell that Mrs. Gabriel really needs to forgive... on the other hand, how could some one who lived through things she lived through forgive a people who so definitively hate... On the other hand, Corrie Ten Boon forgave, and lived through much MUCH worse conditions than Mrs. Gabriel...
Hmmm..

This book has got to be one of the best non-fiction book I've read in a long time. It's opened my eyes and made me more aware of the Middle East. I think this should be required reading for everyone!
It's about her own experiences growing up in Lebanon during the 70s and 80s and how Christians, Jews and Non-Muslims were persecuted, tortured, killed and practically wiped out of the Middle East all in the name of Allah AND that it's still going on. Very scary because the Koran says that those More...

This is an incredible book! The author gives a detailed account of her growing-up years in radical Islamist occupied Lebenon. The reality of it all, and the horrors of terrorism really struck me for the first time when I read this book. Everyone, especially pacifists, should read this book so that they realize what it actually is we're up against.

I can't say enough about this book. I was BLOWN away about how informative that all of this was!
I recommend this to anyone that has any doubts about what is going on in today's world with terrorism.
I am thinking of buying about 50 copies of this, and handing them out to people to read.
This is TRULY one of the best books that I have EVER read!

The author begins the book discussing her childhood growing up as a Christian in Lebanon up until her town was attacked by muslims. Not just the land was destroyed, but her way of life as well as the way of life for everyone in the town.
When she was a teenager after an attack her mother was wounded very badly and had to be taken to a hospital. The mother was taken to Israel. She had a chance to see Israel care for everyone regardless of race or nationality. At this age her eyes were opene More...

Anyone wondering why we went to war in Afghanistan or even Iraq should become familiar with life outside of our democratic society and this book is a good place to start. Brigitte lived in Lebanon during the 1970's and saw it turn from a beautiful city to a place of terror. Her lifestyle as the daughter of a well-to-do businessman living in a comfortable home changed overnight and she and her family were forced to live in a small bunker to survive. This is a true story and her tale is grippin More...

I listened to the audio book and this is a very eye opening book as well as educational. I never really understood why the United States has been such a staunch ally of Israel for so long until I listened to this book. I also understand more about the War on Terror which we are in and that we will not win this ideological war in a few years or even a few decades. It is a war that will always be fought and that is really unfortunate because most of the rest of the world just wants to live in p More...

Eye-opening perspective from a woman raised to hate Isreali Jews. Once she experienced their hospitality and love she has spent her life trying to expose the lies she was raised to believe.

Ms. Gabriel obviously lived through years of horror that is inconceivable to most Americans today. In this book she repeats herself a lot. But she is very committed toward revealing what she sees as a true threat to American society. She wants to insure that, in her words, what happened to her country of birth (Lebanon) does not eventually happen to her adopted country (America). It may be written somewhat one dimensionally, but is certainly an interesting take. Unfortunately, in this day of Am More...

This was an interesting account of a young Lebanese Christian girls confrontation with Hezbollah in Lebanon. Quite an eye opener for the naive that think we are safe.

The author of this book has a story worth telling, although one does have to realize that her childhood experiences have caused her to see things in black and white with no gray in between. Regardless, it's worth reading this book to get an understanding of why Americans may be deceiving themselves. While it is true that most Muslims are not fanatics, neither were most Germans in the 1930s. Reading this book after having just read a couple of books about Nazi Germany made me realize how possi More...

As a young girl in war-torn Lebanon, the author experienced traumatic, life-changing experiences at the hands of Islamist terrorists. She has an anti-pluralist message for America: lax immigration law enforcement and muslim family birthrates are going America into the America-stan province of a future global caliphate. True as that may be, her solution sounds fasctistic: religious belief can legally prevent you from studying physics or chemistry, citizens must be welcome to anytime wiretapping a More...

I could go on and on about what I learned from this book. I highly recommend it to every American. Even if you just read the first half of the book which is the personal story of Ms. Gabriel's family during the Lebanese civil war it will be worth your time. But you'll want to keep reading because the education you'll receive about the religion of Islam--the culture and the doctrine--is absolutely fascinating and unfortunatley disturbing. I grew up with fabulous friends who were Muslim but all I More...

Look at the reviews below that rate this less than three stars. They don't even comment on the content and references sited. I was very impressed with how meticulously the author referenced assertions and claims that would understandably upset those that follow Muhammad. No matter what side of the fence you are on before reading this book or listening to the CD version, truth is truth, and this author can't change truth. Do the research and be informed. Interesting biographical story, but the editing was sorely lacking. Even though I realize English is the author's second language, it was difficult to read such mangled sentences and follow a storyline that leaps from past to present and story to dire warnings with every other paragraph. I respect authenticity, but not when sentence structure is so sloppy that it interferes with the message. Then again the message is a little inflammatory with a dash of fear mongering for spice. It's a warnin More...

As so many other reviewers have noted, this book is a fascinating and eye-opening account of life under Islamic rule. Her points about how Islamo-fascists actively seek to destroy whatever they don't like (pretty much everything we Americans hold dear) rather than live in cooperative disagreement, oppress and abuse women and children, and are consumed by an irrational and ingrained hatred are extremely important for us as Americans to understand. It is nearly inconceivable to most of us that the More...

Although this is by no means a "fun" book, it is an exceptionally important one-- one that everyone in America should read. Ms. Gabriel has seen Islamic terrorism first-hand-- she survived the so-called Lebanese civil war as a child. As such, she understands these terrorists on a much deeper level than most of us can even begin to fathom, and her strong and clear warning to us about the true nature of the threat all of Western civilization faces should be well heeded. In this book, More...

The most important book in a decade. Blunt and to the point, Gabriel's book is written for Americans in our own language to let us know what we are up against with Muslims. She is from Lebanon, a country that was very much like ours -- a democratic nation with Western Democratic values that was predominately Christian. Like us, they felt good about themselves for being tolerant and inclusive and multiculturalists. This attitude blinded them to the Muslim and Palestinian take-over of her coun More...

This is an amazing eye witness account which ought, if there were any justice left in the world, change the attitudes of millions of people. It is a stark account of how evil has perpetrated a value system with a group of people by hating much like the Nazis did before and during WW II. One cannot fail to be impressed by the strength of this woman and her willingness to stand up against a severe and highly vocal opposition and tell the truth as she sees it.
