This is a good book for people who are bullying. These kids get bullied but when duty calls, they are actually secret agents for an organization called NERDS. 5 people make it up. These books usually focus on one character of the 5 NERDS, and in this one, it focuses on Ducan Dewey. When this boy was younger, he got dared to eat paste. He actually did it and he said it tasted good. They got money for the dare and did it again and again. His parents moved to a different place and a different scho...more

Book Review: Nerds 2 M is for Mama’s Boy by Alex

In the book Nerds 2 by Michal Buckley, the main characters are up against Simon, an evil genius, and former NERDS member. However, Simon has a goon, about 50 squirrels for henchmen, and a computer genius, who still lives with his mom. Coincidentally, main character Duncan Dewey lives next-door to the computer genius and his mother. But how can Duncan concentrate on the case at hand when an evil villain keeps trying to attack his family? This book w...more

I really enjoy this series. None of the humor would be incomprehensible to its targeted readers, but some of it will be appreciated even more by adults. If you doubt me, read Simon's letter to his "assosiates" on their poor performance and workplace comportment. I totally cracked up! I fully intend to share it with my co-workers. Anyway...

As you know from NERDS #1, one of the N.E.R.D.S. members has gone renegade, become an evil genius, and is determined to rule the world. Our focus this time is...more

Sci- Fi Fantasy

5th Grader Duncan Dewey part of N.E.R.D.S. group. He is a secret agent. This is a book of transmissions about the N.E.R.D.S. adventure trying to stop their former teammate who is actually the villain the fought in the last book. Now their former teammate has some thugs and a 37 year old man named Albert who is a computer and comic book genius. When Albert creates a ray gun that kill...more

This is a fantastic book there is acrtually no other way to put it because the events and the props the characters use are really what kids imagine of being a secret agent. An example is the Benchley they use to get to places it is looks like a school bus but when need it it turns in o a jet that shoots up the stratosphere then waits for earth to turn to the spot they want to go then it soots back down. And this is just thee beginning of awesomeness, but the interesting part is how he (the author...more

This is a great book if you like lots of action, a fast pace, and spies. The book "Nerds-M is for Mama's Boy takes place mostly at Nathan Hale elementary school. Duncan is a member of a super secret spy organization called the NERDS. In the book Simon is back again planning to take over the world this time by taking over all the technology in the world. It's up to Duncan and his friends without their superpowers to stop him and his evil nemesis a computer genius. Personally thought this book was...more

Over the top situations make this series a fun read. There's no logical explanation behind the bad guys reason to take over the world, it just is. He wouldn't be the bad guy if he was logical. Choppers is back and he wants revenge. Book one focused on Braceface, book two focuses on Duncan, aka Gluestick. When the enemies take the team offline, Gluestick has to "man-up" and realize that he doesn't need techonology to be a secret agent.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit since it took you into Gluesti...more

When I go into schools, these books have a request list a mile long for a reason. The characters are likeable, the tone of the books is hilarious, and it's all very accessible for grade school readers. With this second book, I feel the settling in of the trend in these books. Each about one team member at a time focusing on teaching that team member a lesson. A little repetitive for me as an adult but I remember that when I was a kid I read so many Babysitter's Club books that I have no leg to s...more

NERDS 2: M is for Mama's Boy by Michael Buckley is an awesome book, I would recommend this to anyone that likes to read good books. This book is an awesome story about how five middle schoolers are secret agents for the U.S. government and have super powers. In this book they get their super powers, which are known as an upgrade, from a high-tech computer. The main character in this one, Duncan Dewey is a smart boy who believes in what is right. He reminds me of the character Jonah from Sent, as...more

The NERDS are back in action. This time they must go up against one of their former members. Simon was sure the team would join him in taking revenge against those who bullied them. He was wrong. Now he is out to rule the world. In addition to his goon, he has a new partner. Captain Justice is willing to help Simon because Simon promised him super powers to become a real super hero. Then there is Captain Justice's crazy mother who wants power and prestige. Throw all of these characters together...more

OK now that I'm done with the book I gotta review. Now the story in my opinion is amazing and doesn't stray away from the last story. Some pattern that is a possibility is that it will go in mainly each of the agents lives. Like the first book was Jones and here it's Dewey. The creativeness lacks abit going and sharing a very good life lesson : MAN UP. Really first book was Don't Judge someone by his Appearance. Also the Letter scenes were kinda funny like the YouTube refrence. Albert Nessbit an...more

The NERDS are a really cool super spy group of 5th graders. In Book 1, they were betrayed by one of their own, and in this book, Choppers is out for revenge. Using a special ray gun, he's able to disarm the team's nanobytes and basically shut down all their upgrades. Even though they've been trained as spies, Duncan "Gluestick" Dewey has been overly dependent on their upgrades and tech and has a really hard time coping with the loss of his upgrades.

As the NERDS fight through to the end of the bo...more

The book NERDS: M is for Mommas Boy is a fiction book. It is authored by Michael Buckley. This book is about a boy named Duncan who is in a spy group called NERDS. NERDS is a group of kids who still go to school and are regular students. The only thing that is unusual is that they have superpowers.
Duncan has four best friends that are members of NERDS. They are Matilda, Ruby, Jackson, and Julio. There was a member of the group named Heathcliff, but he left to become a super villain. He left to...more

5 nerds. 5 special powers. By day, they're picked on and are your regular, run-of-the-mill nerds. By afternoon, they become N.E.R.D.S., an elite group of super-spies who operate out of the school basement. Each team member's weakness gets turned into a superpower by an amazing computer.

Simon's braces turn into mechanical devices you can use for pretty much anything. Duncan Dewey's glue-eating ability makes him stick to walls. Ruby's allergies make it so tha...more

The 2nd book in the NERDS series. Just as amusing as the first. This time though the secret spies must get their jobs done without superpowers. A good humorous book to point out that relying too much on technology can be a bad thing. However, one of the agents in particular learns that anyone can overcome an obstacle if they just put their mind to it.

I am eagerly looking forward to getting my hands on the 3rd book. "Cheerleaders of Doom".

I really like this book! It's been a long time since I've read NERDS, and these books don't really start out from where they left off. I consider each book a whole new book. The characters I know so far are Duncan and Flinch. Flinch has a problem whenever he eats sugar, which makes him hyper. Flinch also has superhuman abilities. Duncan's nickname is glue stick because he can stick to any surface. I would recommend this book to readers who like humor.

My son and I both enjoyed the first book immensely, and dove right into the second with earnest. The art style and design does such a great job of setting the secret agent / kid / frenetic environment. The second book was a bit slower midway through for me, and it took a while to finish -- as opposed to tearing through the first one in a weekend. Still, an enjoyable young adults book, and highly recommended by a precocious fourth grader.

The NERDS, the grade school heroes of the National Espionage, Rescue, and Defense Society, are at it again, fighting an ex-NERD who is using his super skills to try to take over the world while destroying part of it on the way. What I liked about the book: there's a lot of excitement and there is a clear message that technology can't do everything, that the kids need to use their brains and figure out alternative ways to win a battle when technology isn't available. What I didn't like about the...more

NERDS is a super-secret spy agency of 5th grade nerds. They get super powers like super inhalers, or the kid who has braces that can turn into any gadget. They fight super villains much like themselves. Funny spy/adventure, for 3-5th grade. With some illustrations and a good balance of girl and boy super heroes.

I think I liked this book better than the first one. However, now I am wishing that I had the 3rd one to read as I want to find out what happens next. I love it when the book is left hanging, but at the same time it is annoying when I don't have the next one to start on. However, I would suggest this book to people who like adventure and a quick read. It didn't take me long to read it and once I was into the book it was difficult to put down. Great read!

Still not a fan of the series, but I have to say I liked this one the most. I liked how it delved into the family life of one of the NERDS members and how they could work through 'life' issues. And I still like that this is a decent series to read and discuss with my 9 year old boy.

This book is awesome! It is such an amusing sequel to the first NERDS! In this book, a former NERDS member believed to be dead turns evil, and employs the help of a computer genius, so the NERDS have a new challenge on hand. Kids will love this hilarious sequel!

This is a cool book. A book where a lot of students can enjoy. It starts with an adventure and the members of NERDS go to look for another chance to save the world which they did plenty of times. I tink this is an awesome book for kids to read!

Three words. Gluestick. Is. Awesome. You know, for the first two books, the main character, in this case, Duncan, is taken off the team. I love the whole unpopular kids turned into spies. Heathcliff is stupid if he thinks he's going to destroy Duncan, try taking a punch to the most important thing in the world to you, your "Choppers" or buckteeth that you used to use for hypnotism. Use your head, Hodges. You are no match for the NERDS. Have no fear, for the NERDS are here!

This book wasnt as good as the first one but it was ok. When Duncan loses his powers he has to learn to fight evil wothout gadgets. His nieghnors turn evil and are trying to take over the world. Also Heathcliff is back.

“Though he could not remember how he had been injured or how long he had been unconcious, his first thought was to call the office and find someone to cover his shifts. He had a busy week of beating people to a bloody pulp, and his victims weren't going to punch themselves in the face. He couldn't leave his bosses in the lurch. He was evil, but he was professional.
Perhaps it was his dedication to his work that had built him such an impressive resume: fifteen broken jaws, fifty-seven legs, a hundred arms, and more noses than he could count. He had knocked out thousands of teeth, pushed a few people off bridges, and once buried a guy in concrete up to his neck. He had been nominated for the Goon of the Year nine times by OUCH (Organization of United Criminals and Henchman), and had won its highest honor, the Brass Knuckle, seven times. At the office, he showed up early and left late. He ate his lunch on the job, frequently beating people as he ate his peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches. You didn't get on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list by taking a sick day!”
