This book isn't for me. I hardly ever find subjects that are completely intolerable in a book, but this is one, if not done right, I can't abide. My mother is bi-polar with schizophrenic tendencies, which basically means not only are her moods all over the place, but she has a tendency to get violent and hears voices that tell her to do bad things. Thankfully she is cognizant enough to ignore the voices, but it's a very serious illness. And not one I can take lightly, especially in a romance More...

Fluffy, comedic, a little bit dark and not at all demanding romantic comedy about a zany FBI agent with multiple personalities chasing a serial killer and a cute guy who runs a bakery. That description right there should tell you whether or not the book is going to work for you. If you tend to take things seriously and be offended by people who don't, run. Run far far away.

This book is absurd but it knows its absurd and isn't pretending to be anything else. The premise of the m More...

I'm actually not sure how many stars to give this book...it was a bit like not being able to look away from a car accident. It's probably one of the most bizarre books I've ever read (actually listened to). The main character has Multiple Personality Disorder, she is a member of a special FBI unit that is full of mentally ill agents...her partner is a sociopath, there is a kleptomaniac, an agoraphobic, etc. It is so unbelievable I was waiting to find out this was all going on in the main charact More...

Zany dark but humorous!

After witnessing a horrible tragedy at the age of three, Cadence Jones was never the same. Suffering from multiple personality disorder, Cadence thinks of her other two personalities as her sisters, her family. Cadence is sweet and never swears. Shiro smokes and is sarcastic, and Adrienne is well, violent.

Luckily the FBI that hires the strange and unusual for an underground branch; they feel agents with "special gifts" can lend a unique More...

I was going to give this three stars, and then I saw on the Goodreads tag for the title that it's "(Cadence Jones, #1)" so I downgraded it a star. This book is not strong enough to stand alone--the titular protagonist, Cadence, is not well developed. Her voice is the weakest of the three, and her character most inconsistent. Also inconsistent was the love interest. And the boss' character. And the best friend (who all but disappears in the second half of the book--some friend). It was More...

From MaryJanice Davidson's fertile and wacky imagination comes FBI Agent Cadence Jones, a woman with Multiple Personality Disorder. She is an agent in a secret branch of the FBI, comprised entirely of agents suffering from various mental illnesses and disorders. The theory is that it takes crazy to catch crazy. Her partner is a sociopath, her boss like knives a little too much, and the admin assistant is a scarily efficient agoraphobic girl. Cadence is the best agent in the branch, and she a More...

Cadence Jones has three personalities, referring to the other two as her sisters. She/they work for the BOFFO section of the FBI, a secret unit made up of those with personality and other mental disorders; their issues help them think outside of the box to bring in the bad guys. Cadence/Shiro/Adrienne, along with their partner, a sociopath named George, are working the ThreeFer serial killer case, and it becomes apparent that the killer knows the `sisters.'

Funny characters abound in th More...

Candace Jones is an FBI operative in a very special, super-secret branch of the organization. She, and all her collegues have various mental disabilites that make them uniquely suited to hunting down and bagging the criminals they seek. Candace, dealing with multiple personality disorder, and her partner, a sociopath, are on the trail of a notorious serial killer.

This is an outrageous, over-the-top, tongue in cheek kind of book. If you are looking for something believable or a serious More...

So far (the prologue) I'm thinking I'm going to like this...

"First comes the blood and then comes the.... First comes the blood and then comes the screams, then comes the screams, then comes the screams, and the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, its so loud. I just wanna sleep and the screams come around all the day long."

Oh I think I love this already.....

Okay - So I've finished - and I have to say - I loved it.

I usually find MaryJanice Davidson hilarious and love her vampire books. This is her new series about a FBI dept. of agents that have different "issues." The lead character has multiple personality disorder along with her partner who is a sociopath. Each agent has something they have to deal with that make them different. This book starts out with them investigating a serial killer that may be trying to get the main character's attention. Each short chapter usually starts with a differ More...

Talk about wacky fun -- which fits MaryJanice Davidson to a tee. Cadence is a crime-solver suffering from multiple personality disorder. She is housing 3 very separate, very unique entities. Cadence is sociable and meek, Shiro is unemotional and practical, and Adrienne reminds me a bit of a psychotic Lisbeth from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The story takes place in Minneapolis, and Candace and company work for a secret branch of the FBI. Her current case is the Three-fer Killer, who ha More...

A highly flawed story about a woman with multiple personalities. I had no problem with suspending my belief for the storyline. I love fantasy novels and think sometimes a novel can not be taken too seriously, especially when written by MaryJanice Davidson. The flaws in the story are in the characters. The three personalities are seeming to fall for the same man, a man who deserves to get punched in the face, not flirted with. He is manipulative with nothing truly redeeming. When he does do More...

Okay, I'm giving this book one star (as opposed to none) because I really like MaryJanice Davidson's other books and *MAYBE* I just couldn't get into this one because of my mood or something...but this one just didn't grab me. I read 20 pages and quit. The premise is very intriguing - an FBI type agent with multiple personalities working with other mentally ill agents. Should have been hilarious. I am a former psychology major and am ver familiar with MPD, but this was very jumpy. The main chara More...

First Line: "The lilting strains of thrash metal crashed through my skull and I sat bolt upright in bed, clutching my ears."

This is the first Davidson book that I have read and I was thoroughly enchanted. Somehow, she made a romance featuring the three personalities of a woman suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder work well. I think listening to this book really helped me build the three distinct personalities into fleshed-out characters as the narrator did a beautiful More...

"I find that I still have yet to fully make my mind up about Me, Myself and Why? There were times I really liked it and times where I said, 'Hold up, really?' The book is made of quick chapters that are written from each sister’s perspective, the most of them being through Cadence’s point of view as she is the main and normal one of the three. Now while Ms. Davidson does well articulating and differentiating between each characters’ point of view, it can still get a little confusing as the More...

After having read some of the other reviews on this book, and seeing some very harsh reviews,I'm going to start this with a disclaimer saying this: If you are not the kind of person who likes slapstick, outrageous, and very silly things, then just keep walking. However, if you love the absurd, irrational and occasionally very odd thing, then this is a good book for you.

I loved the premise of the book - a branch of the FBI filled with nothing but the mentally ill? What a great idea. More...

MaryJanice Davidson s latest novel, Me, Myself and Why?, is written with her trademark quirky sense of humor, but with a protagonist who has multiple personality disorder, it is quirkier than her usual offering. Told from all three personalities perspective, the novel moves quickly (I read it in one evening). Unlike some other reviewers, I had no difficulty knowing which personality was in control of the narrative. The three personalities are very diverse with different voices, which c More...

wow! THERE ARE NOT MANY BOOKS THAT i FEEL COMPELLED TO SAY "I THOUGHT IT WAS DREADFUL". Reading the back of the audio case (I seldom do an audio book, but I was feeling like being read 2...mistake) I thought I found a potential interesting thriller/suspense novel. I am not sure what genre to classify this as, but I won't shelf it in those categories,

Cute story...and that's coming from someone with an institutionalized, heavily-medicated paranoid schizophrenic in the family. I didn't find anything offensive or distastful about this book, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

A fun read; recommended.

Just an o.k. read. I found it too confusing to have all the jumps between personalities.

The story of a female FBI agent in a group of secret FBI agents all of whom have some sort of disability (Klepto, sociopath, bipolar, etc) is intriguing..but the constant viewpoint shifts just made me confused and pulled me out of the story.

There were some chapters that were only a few sentences. Then I couldn't figure out how others would know when a new personality took over - and h More...

Not bad, not bad! This was my introduction to this author. I was intrigued by the protagonist - who has (is?) "MPD", or Multiple Personality Disorder. At first it was jarring to learn three separate personalities narrating the story. But Davidson did a great job in establishing unmistakable voices for Cadence and her "sisters". The supporting cast was great also-Cadence's covert ops branch of the FBI co-workers and assorted friends. I definitely finished the book wanting to k More...

What type of Threesome is MaryJanice Davidson gotten herself into now? No. Not that kind. This book is about a woman who has dis-associative personality disorder (commonly referred to as multiple personality disorder). Candace and her two sisters (as she calls her other personalities)work for a special department of the FBI using their "special skills" to hunt down crazy (well the really crazy) serial killers and bad guys. Davidson uses the first person narrative, for each sister, to t More...

I read an excerpt of this book on my nook color-they had a free version of the prequel. Let me say that I am a HUGE MJD fan! I love her characters (although they all tend to be very simliar with the same amount of snark). I found the fourteen pages that I read confusing, it was difficult to figure out what was going on. I may read the entire book-I am on the fence.

My advice to any reader who consumes these books and also reads her Betsy series would be to keep in mind that when you More...

Well, I saw this book at the library with a "NY times bestseller" sticker on it. As usual, I don't like to read the reviews or the inside cover until after I have finished reading it. The book was a quick read, very different style. It is a modern modification of the Sound and the Fury, of which I couldn't make heads or tails. Me, Myself, and Why was definitely easier to follow, but it was very far fetched. Given all the above, all the switching around of the main character was ac More...

Interesting concept : a division of the FBI where the clinically insane are employed to solve crimes using their unique perspectives. The main character has multiple personalities and a really whacked background; her partner is a sociopath. This is obviously the start of a series and I will give it one more book before I ditch it. My problem was that it goes way, way over the top and stretches the bounds of belief with what the insane employees are able to get away with and have covered up. The More...
