Paranormal Haven
Night’s Darkest Embrace. Jeanine Frost.
Being a half demon gives Mara the ability to see the veil between the demon realm and the human one. Now with her parents away on vacation it’s the perfect time to return to Nocturna.

Ever since she reached adulthood Mara has returned to Nacturna to exact revenge on the pureblood demon that took and killed her cousin when they were teens. If it hadn’t been for Rafel she would have been dragged into the purebloods realm also, never to be seen again.

Haunted by Your Touch by Jeaniene Frost, Sharie Kohler, and Shayla Black
Paranormal Romance- Oct. 26th, 2010
4 stars

Haunted by Your Touch is an anthology that includes paranormal stories from: Shayla Black’s Doomsday Brethren series, Sharie Kohler’s werewolf series, and an original novel by Jeanine Frost.

Jeaniene Frost's story is a departure from her vampire series. This story has a somewhat lighter tone than her vampire books. It involves a young woman named Mara. Mara is part demon and she is...more

Nothing spooky about this trio of paranormal romance novellas, while I was expecting ghostly themed romances, all the stories were instead 'mate' hookups. But since most of the pairs had a history, the mate bond didn't have to do all of the work. And even though these were short, all of the authors fit a decent amount of story and world building in their offerings.

Jeaniene Frost leaves her Night Huntress world behind (so no Cat and Bones) and introduces a new world in her tale "Night's Darkest...more

Night's Darkest Embrace - Jeaniene Frost
3.5 Stars. This story is a bit of a change for Frost (and her fans); as it is not a 'Cat and Bones' story. It takes place in a world called Nocturna, a Demon world where it is always night and time stands still. It is a bit reminiscent of being in a Fae world. No electricity, few modern conveniences, and many things from the mundane world may or may not work here.

Mara is a Partial Demon who periodically travels thru a portal to Nocturna to search for her c...more

Night's Darkest Embrace by Jeaniene Frost - 3.5/5
This book was like a compact urbanfantasy romance – half the size of a regular book, yet managed to fit in all the urbanfantasy requirements (kick butt heroine, swoon worthy hero, an interesting world and exciting action-filled plot). I really liked it and the only problems I had with it were stuff that could have been easily fixed if the book had been longer and had more description (more character development, more UST /build-up to the sexy time...more

This book is HOT! Three very seductive, steamy, suspenseful stories in one book had me riveted. You don't have to read the series by either of the 3 authors before getting started with this book. I have previously read Jeaniene Frost (both Night Huntress series) and Sharie Kohler (Moonchasers series) and have Shayla Black on my wish list, so I was THRILLED to see this anthology with all three of them. I got a sneak peek at RWA 2010 from Sharie Kohler herself.

This book has three paranormal romance novellas. Now, I'm generally more of an epic kind of girl so I always feel novellas end far too soon but I enjoyed these.

The first one is the tale of a part-demon girl who crosses between dimensions to find out what happened to her cousin. She suspects her cousin ran afoul of the Purebloods, who feed on Partials, and specifically suspects the Lord Rafael. It was a good story, nice mix of romance and action. The characters were well fleshed despite the brevi...more

I had very high hopes sailing into this one...it is not often that you get an anthology where you are a fan of ALL the authors in an anthology. Not to mention, two of the three stories are from series I follow. But I have to say I was disappointed, and can only say this was Ok.

I found all three stories a bit on the dull side, for reasons I just can't explain. I think part of the problem with the Jeaniene Frost entry was that I didn't like the female lead. The world and the set up were interestin...more

My friend Jeaniene Frost sent me this book signed. I'm very fortunate to know this smart and beautiful talented lady. In this book Jeaniene has went in a different direction from her Cat and Bones series. Jeaniene writes about Demons, Purebloods, and the Fallen. Has this got your attention yet. Our herione is named Mara. She is half Demon and she visits to a parallel world from our time that is called Nocturna. At Nocturna it never becomes day. Mara is on a mission, to find the Pureblood who too...more

A decent collection of short stories - the best one being Jeaniene Frost's without a doubt!

Night's Darkest Embrace - Jeaniene Frost (4/5 Stars)

An interesting universe that I would certainly enjoy reading more about in the future. Did anyone else notice that the back blurb of the book says "Raphael" yet the story itself has "Rafael?" Whoops! Either way, Night's Darkest Embrace was very well done - Rafael was sexy, Mara was snarky, and the chemisty HOT. My only complaint would be that Mara automat...more

Oh what can I say. I LOVED the short story from Jeaniene Frost. If she develops it into another series I will be there drooling for Raphael. In a way he does remind me a little bit of Bones. He's a bit arrogant with reason, he's strong, smart and sexy as hell. Plus he is in love with one woman only. He's a bit more willing to allow Mara to do her own thing and is less chauvinistic than Bones can be around Cat. AND with Jeaniene Frost you know you are going to get some sexy time in the book. Oh y...more

Haunted by Your Touch—an Anthology by Jeaniene Frost, Shayla Black and Sharie Kohler
It has only been recently that I have been able to really appreciate anthologies. In the past they have been an irksome expense endured to possess a missing story from a beloved author to fill-in gaps in an ongoing series. I did not truly appreciate them until I began to have crossovers; new series I found and loved that happened to have shorts in anthologies I already owned. It was like finding gold buried on my...more

Normally I am not a big fan of short stories so I usually give 2 or 3 stars by default, because they are simply too short for any real plot and character development. I’d usually skip certain stories in a compilation just so I could get to my favourite authors and/or read about a favourite character in a side story. However, the difference with this compilation is that it actually only contains 3 shorts. This means that there’s a lot more room/pages to tell a story than many other shorts that I’...more

Another Anthology so here's the breakdown:

Night’s Darkest Embrace by Jeaniene Frost
A very pleasant romance with a good dose of adventure. Several plot turns were visible from miles away, but for a romantic novella I don't mind when that happens. I do wonder if Frost's longer stories suffer from the same flaw though. Still I think I might try other books by Frost in the future.

Mated by Shayla Black

I am a big fan of Jeaniene Frost. Her Cat & Bones series is one of my favorites. So her name on the cover was a good enough reason for me to try the anthology "Haunted by Your Touch."

Her contribution, "Night's Darkest Embrace," is a departure from her usual vampire fare. This novella features a partial demon, Mara. She journeys to the demon realm of Nocturna to avenge the death of her cousin. But while she searches for answers, she crosses paths with Rafael, the leader of Nocturna. She has...more

I've recently began reading anthologies so that I'm exposed to different authors. This is the first anthology that I've read on purpose. I liked all of these stories to some degree.

Night's Darkest Embrace
This story by Jeannine Frost is my favorite of the three. I was hesitant to read this story because I have a thing against demons story lines but this one surprised me. I liked that they were fated to be. I like the surprise twist in the story. I didn't like the age difference. It was a wee bit...more

I'm not impressed with this book.

The first of the three stories "Night's Darkest Embrace" by Jeaniene Frost was the best of the three, but I found that I've read a novella that had the same storyline albeit different settings and by that I mean "Pack" it was a story featured in another anthology and in the mammoth book of paranormal romance. Girl saved by boy, he knew from te start she was his mate, she's attracted to him, he saves her life again, and they live happily ever after... don't get me...more

This book contains 3 small stories about 150 pages each.
1. This story is written by Jeanine Frost, 4 stars.
I love Ms. Frost writting style. She makes her characters so interesting and her story grabbed me from begginig to end. With a couple surprises and twists mixed in with the action and romance, I have to say I loved it.
2.This story is written by Shayla Black, 3 stars.

I only read the story by Jeaniene Frost. This is the first story of her's that was not about Bones and company. I was not sure if I would like it or not. I have read books from authors in the past where I only liked characters in that series. I could not stand anything else they wrote. That is not the case here. I loved this story. It did have a few twists and turns. Also has good character development, especially considering that this story is only 156 pages. Many times, I do not like short sto...more

I went into this book as a skeptic. I am so comfortable in the Night Huntress world as a reader, that I was wishing that this was a C&B short. That lasted about two seconds once I started reading. Fallen angels, demons and a world in another dimension. I was so pleased with the experience that at the end of the story, I realized that I hadn't thought about Cat and Bones at all and became completed engrossed in the world of Nocturna.

Well, that was all fine and good but there were still two mo...more

I received this book as an ARC.

Haunted by Your Touch is a collection of three stories from sizzling paranormal romance authors.

The first is Night's Darkest Embrace by Jeaniene Frost. Set in a world of dimension jumping demons it's rife with emotion, mainly of the tragic and vengeance kind. Mara is a quarter demon, strong enough to cross over to Nocturna, a wild west/Victorian era feeling dimension of demons. When she was a teen she and her cousin ran afoul of some Full Blood demons, who feed o...more

Night's Darkest Embrace - Jeaniene Frost

I really enjoyed this one -- it wasn't her "usual" (that is, it seemed to have nothing to do with the Night Huntress series, at least not that I recognized), but it was still quite good.

What worked for me:
*Wings. Oh mama, I love me some wings *sigh*
*I liked the world building -- it was thorough enough that you got the basic gist of things without bogging the story down with superfluous details that made you want to throw the book at the wall.
*Hot sex and b...more

LOVED Jeaniene's Demon Story!! It was captivating and fun to read...with just enough sultry to keep her name good in the Romance department!! Having never read a demon story, I loved the world she wove, giving it an almost steampunk western feel to the world. Surprises hid behind every page!

Shayla Black's Doomsday Brethren story was okay. It was mainly about witches battling evil and trying to save the young love interest of one of the Brethren. Whiches just aren't my thing, so overall this was...more

NIGHT'S DARKEST EMBRACE by Jeaniene Frost
I bought this because of Ms. Frost. I completely enjoyed her story, it's different from Kat and Bones. Mara leave the human realm to go to Nocturna to avenge her cousins death from years ago. She see Raphael and realizes she still likes him. She also has her doubts about his involvement in her cousins death. He claims he wasn't involved. Mara thinks he was. You'll have to read it to find out.

Night's Darkest Embrace by Jeanine Frost: Purebloods prey on mixed bloods, Fallen Angels prey on Purebloods. Important to identify who's who, otherwise revenge is awfully difficult. A bit too convoluted but nice potential.

Mated by Shayla Black: Wizards vs. Doomsday Brethren. Expectant mother can't get father to commit because his calling is too dangerous. Magic thrown around indiscriminately, evil wizard. Annoying characters.

Darkest Temptation by Sherie Kohler; Newly bitten female, theoretically...more
