I liked TRY ME better than BITE ME. TRY ME has a completely different dynamic than BITE ME - the Special Crimes Unit loses some of its prominence in the story as Val spends half of her time on a leave of absence, and early on in the book she breaks up with her irritating former partner/love interest, Dan. I hated Dan, so seeing Shade step forward to take his place was a huge positive in my book.

I really like how Val is dealing with her life. Yes, her mother threw her out of the house, but she bounced back, got a job and found a place to live. This time around Val is still dealing with Dan and his crap. I really wish that Dan would put his big boy boxers on and get over himself. He is attracted to Val, but also disgusted by her and Lola. After rereading the first one, I was excited to get to this one. I liked where the story was going and found that the continuing storyline from the first to be fun to follow. I read the author's note at the end of the book and I was glad she was intrigued with Shade and didn't keep him as a throw away character. I thought he was a fantastic addition and was glad to see he got more page time in this book.

As if Val's world hadn't been complicated before, now all of a sudden things look as if they couldn't get any worse. I was able to get all three copies of the Demon Underground series through Netgalley as a package deal, Bite Me, Try Me, and Fang Me. So, basically I'm reviewing the series thus far. I believe it is an on going series, but I have yet to read the third, so I don't know for sure if there is a finale. I highly doubt it.

I was so conflicted when it came to the boys in this book. On the one hand I really found the boys in this book to be gigantic boogers. Dan was an entire jerkface and Shade was just shady. Shade constantly said that he wouldn't force Val into doing anything that she wasn't comfortable with, yet he would do something like run around buck-naked. It took me a while to get into the story because I didn't read the first book. At first, I also had difficulty with the very colloquial style of writing, but after I got used to it, it was fine. It reflected the first person narrative told by a young adult, after all.
The novel was a positive surprise. I read a lot of paranormal books but I've never heard of this author so I was excited to give the novel a try (It did beg to Try Me. ;))

Try Me is the second installment in the Demon Underground series and whereas in the first one we see a young Val fighting for her place in the world, here we see a more mature, responsible Val living her new life and starting to accept her true nature as a demon.
Ok, not really. Val is always the same snarky smartass, but in this book her story takes a twist and we can learn more about Lola and the Demon Underground in general.

Try Me is the second book in The Demon Underground series. Val’s charter in Bite Me was great, but she blew me away in Try me. She’s so much stronger and her character has more depth. This book, like the first one, wasn't terrible or outstanding. There are some good things going on, including semi-involved parents (quite an achievement, considering YA's tendency to kill off parental figures!) and a strong female protagonist.
The main not-so-good thing for me is the writing. While it's not awful, it continues to come across as forced and stilted. When describing characters' expressions, it's simply "[Insert character here] looked sad". No elaboration, just ...more

Val Shapiro is 1/8th Succubus Demon, she has incredible strength, speed, as well as her other senses being enhanced. Oh...and the occasional man being uncontrollably filled with lust around her. All of these bonuses to her life make her the perfect vampire slayer / Special Crimes Unit operative / member of the Demon Underground / and Vampire Mediator.

This book was okay. Not nearly as good as the first book in the series, but still good. I basically read them back to back, and this one just sort of pales in comparison. And oddly, the kindle version has no way of differentiating Fangs speech from regular text (unlike the first book, which had a bold font).

I am totally loving this series. I read the first book in this series, Bite Me, and immediately picked up book 2, I was so hooked on it, I knew I needed to read them all right away.
I am definitely enjoying Blue's writing style, and just like book 1, this one pulled me in right away and kept me interested through the entire book, I just couldn't read fast enough.
