Mary Connealy paints a vivid picture in Wrangler in Petticoats that the reader can't take their eyes off of--all through the night! I was drawn to the story like Sally was drawn to Logan's paintings (although I was far less reluctant than Sally, might I add). Connealy knows how to write action and romance in a way that makes the reader laugh, sigh, and continue turning pages almost as fast as Sally can draw her gun!

I was drawn to Logan as soon as his character was introduced. It was interesting

Recommendation: Read it but not first!

I like Mary Connealy's writing. I really do but I had a hard time with this one. I have read all of the Montana Marriages series, as well as, the Lasso in Texas series. I feel that makes me a capable judge of this new series, Sophie's Daughters. We first meet Sophie's girls in "Petticoat Ranch" and again in "Calico Canyon." This book, the second in the series, mainly focuses on Sally with a good bit of Mandy's problems

Who would have thought a gun toting, fast draw female and a paint slinger artist would make such a great story?

The story barrels out with an immediate cliffhanger-literally- as Sally dangles for her life. And as she tumbles into Logan’s life, neither will ever be the same.

I loved the interaction between characters. Their internal monologue filled with snarky quips and punctuated dialogue. The pace of the novel is quick and to the point. Both of Sally’s and Logan’s obsessions with their chosen p

There is no doubt in my mind that Mary Connealy is a gifted, creative storyteller. I have enjoyed the plots of all of her books and her style is smooth and easy to follow. She knows how to bring the reader into the story and feel a connection to the characters. The idea of having a rough and tough cowgirl fall in love with an artsy painter makes for a fun, humorous and interesting plotline. The reason I only give this book three stars is because I am a bit irritated with the portrayal in a few o ...more

Wrangler in Petticoats, the second book in the Sophie's Daughters series, is non stop action and romance- the book equivalent to a summer popcorn movie. Revisiting these characters was as easy as watching my favorite actors on the big screen. And I had a grin on my face the whole time!

The feisty McClellan girls are back (as are their friends Luther and Buff). This installment focuses on Sally, a rough-ridin', chaps-wearin' wrangler with a secret girlie streak. Sally miraculously survives a dry g

Another excellent read from the expert on cowboys and comedy!
While traveling to Montana to help her pregnant sister, Sally McClellan is attacked and falls off a cliff. Artist Logan McKenzie rescues her, taking her home to Wise Sister, a Shoshone woman who's as practical and savvy as Sally. A conflict of values ensues, with Sally wanting to hunt the elk that Logan wants to portray on canvas. Meanwhile, back at Mandy's ranch, her baby's on the way, her lazy husband has hired a slimeball bodyguard

How does Mary Connealy do it? Each of her books is so good that I wonder how she can possible top it. But she always does! Wrangler in Petticoats is another enjoyable romantic adventure, this one set in the wilds of Montana. The opening scene is an edge-of-your-seat shoot-'em-up in classic Connealy style. In this novel she pairs a tough Texas tomboy with a passionate artist. Adding sweet touches of femininity to her heroine and perfectly layered masculine bravado to her hero, Connealy renders a ...more

It's hard to rate this one, I'm thinking 3.5 stars. Even though I have mixed feelings, it definitely has readability going for it. This is just going to have to be a review I have to come back and tweak later, because I seriously don't know how to feel about it.

I'm starting to become very tired of the "swoony" kisses in these romances, and in Christian Romance in general. Above all else, it's unrealistic. I find it incredibly hard to believe that if someone, practically a stranger,

Have I ever told you that I love Mary Connealy books?
I hadn't read a book by her in what seemed like forever (about three months). So after such a long way, this book was excellent!
It had the wonderful humor, breathless romance, heart-stopping action, and strong (though not as profound as I'd prefer) faith. Not to mention the incredibly strong and swoon-worthy men that make you wish you could trade places with the heroine for, like, eternity.
I didn't cry but I definitely laughed.

Enjoyed a second reading of this series with my boys.

This is the story of Sally when she goes to Montana to spend time with Mandy when she is going to have her third baby. One the way, the party Sally rides with is attacked. After falling off a mountain, Sally is rescued by Logan, an artist who is out among his favorite spots in the world to paint. He is shocked to see a girl falling through the trees from the sky. He's happy to see that she survives the fall and takes her home to his friend Wis

“Wrangler in Petticoats” by Mary Connealy is one of those rare books that still captured my attention from the very get go even with a second reading, this was. This is the second book in her Sophie's Daughters series and focuses on the third oldest McClellan, Sally with some more of Mandy thrown in with how her life is going.

Sally McClellan is a woman who wants to wear what she wants, do the work that her pa does, and knows she is a bit different. Her heart though carries a secret, one that nob

We've all heard of the cliffhanger ending but we're talking Mary Connealy here, the queen of surprise and humor, so the cliffhanger is at the beginning of the book! Our heroine, Sally goes over the edge (literally) and so things can only go up from there. Sassy Sally and sensitive Logan mix like oil and water so the tension between these two is thick as molasses and makes this my favorite of Ms. Mary Connealy's far.

How can anyone possibly go wrong with reading Mary Connealy books? It would be baffling to think that someone WOULDN'T like her amazing, funny, sweet and lovable books! From the laughter, to sweet cowboys, to a touch of suspense in each one, her books are GLOURIOUSLY WOWmazing. And, each new addition to her series collections seem to get better and better with each one.

I loved the characters in this book even more than the ones in Doctors in Petticoats (though we saw Sarah in that one as well,a

This is another new author for me – though I have heard a lot about her work. The story started off strong, with the ambush of ?s party and her near-death experience. While the whole book isn’t an edge-of-your-seat read, it still had its tense parts! After being rescued by an artist that is extremely passionate for his craft, she’s taken back to his home to recuperate from a near-death experience, unaware that the ambushers are on her trail to silence her for good.

Great story plot. I enjoyed Sal

Well I did it again. After reading the last book in this series first, I then moved on to the 2nd in the series. Guess that leaves the first for last. It didn't effect the reading too much, but I do highly suggest reading the Montana and Texas trilogies before reading these books of the Sophie's daughters trilogy. There is a lot of background to be had.

Sally is the tomboy of the group. As such she has a penchant for going around in boys clothes. But that's not important, what is important is tha

I usually LOVE LOVE LOVE Mary Connealy's books but this was a bit of a let down for me. This is the second book in the Sophie's Daughters series and really more of a fill in or in-between book to get us to Mandy & Tom's story.

My problem with the book is the couple themselves. Sally is the tomboy of the family, the rough and tumble, take no prisoners cowgirl who prefers jeans to calico and guns to ribbons and lace. Logan, while physically he is handsome and extremely fit, is the CLASSIC beta

Well, this guy is an odd hero(Logan) for this time period for sure....but there were artists and female wranglers in the 1880s, so how great an idea for a book!

Sally is on her way to be with her sister Mandy whose 3rd baby is due. They've not seen each other in about 3 years since Mandy married her no-account husband. Without giving out a spoiler, Sally ends up in Logan's life, like it or not. He's a no-account who thinks 'quick draw' means 'sketch a drawing quickly,' not 'save your hide with a

WRANGLER IN PETTICOATS by Mary Connealy is an amazing inspirational historical romance set in 1882 Montana territory. It is the second in the Sophie's Daughter's series but can be read as a stand alone. It is well written with details and depth. It has romance, intrigue, faith, love, mayhem, murder, treachery, humor, sacrifice, finding ones true love, ones self and inner peace. The hero, Logan, is a painter, strong, handsome, a loner, and true to his self. The heroine, Sally, is strong willed, tou ...more

Sally McClellan is on her way to visit her sister Mandy, who’s about to deliver her third child. It’s a long way from Texas to Montana in the 1800s, and there are plenty of ways for travel to go amiss. Indeed, Sally’s party is ambushed by dry gulchers, and Sally, dressed as a man, is shot from her horse and falls over a cliff.

She pretty much lands beside frontier artist Logan McKenzie, who had been painting down the slope, and who carts her back to his cabin and the Indian woman, Wise Sister, wh

love these books!

They are well written, fun to read, with loveable characters...true romance novels without the blatantly obvious sex scenes or hackneyed use of metaphors for the male genitalia. Gotta love that! I have read nearly all of this author's books in the last few months while I've been snowed in ( winter over yet?!) and it has been an awesome way to pass the time! Starting Sharpshooter in Petticoats today!

Wrangler in Petticoats is a bit gruesome for romantic historical fiction but I enjoyed this story! Set near Yellowstone Park in the 1800s, I imagine this book tells the truth about how rough the country really was. Women had to tough to survive. I enjoy reading Mary Connealy's books and this was no exception.

I made the mistake of reading this book third instead of second in the series. I don't think this one is as good as the first, and truth be told, it gets annoying when after two weeks together the main character pretty much knows she'll never find happiness again if she isn't with the man she ends up marrying. Really? Because it seems to happen a lot with the various characters in this author's books that they just knew they were meant for someone after one moment of eye contact, or got married ...more
