This book begins and ends with its claims that the Mexican nationals who entered the United States during the bracero program negatively affected the Mexican American communities by spreading disease and crime. Despite this offensive contention, the book appears to be in sympathy with the plight of the farm labor and opposed to the bracero program along similar lines as Ernesto Galarza. This was originally created as a dissertation at Harvard in 1957.
