I loved the comedy and reality of this short, easy attention-keeping book. It is still fun to read though I have many times before. It is a very cute, funny story.

this book is about a girl named Jillian. Everything has changed for Jillian ever since her mother got remarried and moved from Pennsylvania to New York City. Not only does Jillian have an evil stepsister, she has to share a room with her! Jillian got a break when a neighbour asked her to cat sit for her. Her neighbour's house is full of interesing things and very soon, Jillian found herself in a little adventure.

I book-talked this to sixth graders and they were all really intrigued by the hook of "this boy in a window across the street who may or may not have been kidnapped." The drawings on the cover got some giggles, too. Predictable yet cute story.

Possibly the best book ever. I read it when I was about 8.
Many years later, I still laugh so hard every time the cheese man comes to mind.
Funny at its best <3

I read this book because I liked the cover, but it was not worth it. The only thing it has going for it is that it is set in New York.

Mom & daughter move to NY City with stepdad & stepsister. Great plot, really deals with what blended families go through.

The reason I picked up this book was because the idea of looking out your apartment window into others' windows attracted me. It turned out okay. Three stars for some funny or original ideas, but I didn't like the part about the divorced parents and step-siblings.
