I am really surprised. The cover looks wholesome to me, and then when I opened it Bam! there goes the hot stuff. Jess Fink really knows her thing when it comes to creating very sexy comic panels. Chester 5000 XYV is a comic book about Victorian romance that blurs the line between art and pornography. Well, don't judge just yet. If you read the book further on to the core you'll see how magnificently the artwork has been done. A catchy and entertaining book.

A Victorian themed smut comic with no dialogue, and nicely stylized art work. The art often plays with elongated and exaggerated perspectives, which made it more interesting to follow for the entire duration of the story.

Outside of artist's style and the interesting idea of moving the story along like a silent film, I'm not sure I was particularly thrilled by this. I don't really enjoy stories that center this heavily on sex. It's a simple personal preference, nothing more to it. Stories told th

Victorian Robot Porn! The story of a wife, her asshole husband, and the robot he built to have sex with her. This is told entirely without words and it worked so well for me that I didn't even notice the lack of dialogue until someone pointed it out. The characters' expressions told me everything I needed to know. Except for the brunette, that is; nothing could explain why she's attracted to the inventor after she's seen him treat his wife with such violence, but I guess that's where we shrug an ...more

This took me 15 minutes to read, which was a little disappointing, given that I spent as many dollars on it, but it was entertaining. There are no words, only pictures, which was a welcome change of pace from the normal comics I read. The drawings were fun and the nakedness was amusing. I mean, what woman hasn't dreamed of having hot sex with a robot?

This is the first graphic novel I've read that didn't have any words, and also the first that's specifically erotic. It was beautifully drawn and very sweet while being explicit, which is a nice blend of capturing love and surprising in an erotic book. It's a bit weird (like, if a robot and a human having sex squicks you out, stay clear...though the cover makes it pretty clear it's their love story so it's not like you weren't warned) but then again, so am I :)

I really like Jess Fink's work for

Discovered this yesterday after reading about it in a newspaper article - went straight to comixology and picked it up. I ended up "reading" (there are no words in the whole book) the whole thing in a single sitting. What a pleasure. Jess Fink's art is crisp, saucy and totally disarming.
But make no mistake - this book is super filthy. You has been warned!

Whoa, this is some hot stuff! "Chester 5000 XYV" is a spicy stew of Victorian romance, steampunk sci-fi, and straight-up people-(and-robots)-fucking-all-over-the-place pornography; I thought it was great.

Jess Fink's creativity is boundless, whether she's diagramming robotic appendages or drawing acrobatic sexual positions. Her art is soft and beautifully rendered, which is a must when you're inking some of the sexiest panels ever conceived. Even more remarkable, however, is Fink's ability to inf

This book is wordless, and very lovely and careful. It is delicate and explicit and sweet all in in the same instant, and is so god damn sexy. A comic about a robot lover in Victorian times. It might be steampunk, except instead of stupid stove pipe hats and goggles, it is imaginative and arousing.

What? 4 stars for porn?

Sooo.... last night I stumble upon my Facebook and see Zoe Archer (one of my favorite author) share the link of Jessica Fink's website. With "NSFW" word, of course I can't resist the temptation to click the link, despite it is already 4 a.m and I plan to go to gym with my BF. Hooboy, really NSFW indeed! Chester 5000 XVY, written and drawing by Jess Fink is an erotic steampunk graphic novel that will make your smutty heart singing (har, har). The story is about Priscilla, a woman who lived in Vic ...more

There is a certain amount of finger-wagging going on when something is labelled "porn". One assumes a degree of naughtiness with a large dose of bad attitude to be at play, so to speak, when the term is applied. Opposite to porn would be "erotic" which seems to be - lately anyway - the serious, for-your-consideration side of the same coin. CHESTER 5000 fits comfortably in both camps without any pretensions to one or the other.

A plot description is readily available in previous reviews of this s

The funny thing is that this book came out at almost the same time as Dave McKean's Celluloid. Both of these are erotic comic novels with no captions or dialogue (or hardly any, in the case of Jess Fink's Chester 5000-XYV). Both feature a strong female protagonist giving and receiving sexual pleasure from a variety of partners. Both are in hardcover, though McKean's contains lavish full color artwork and therefore costs more than twice as much as Jess Fink's smaller, black and white book ($35 vs ...more

I've never read a comic that was basically pornography before, but this was a great place to start. There's a story, but there are pretty much pictures of vaginas on every page. Which was awesome.

This takes place during the industrial revolution, when a lady marries a man and greatly enjoys having intercourse with him. The man is frightened by her fervor for lovemaking, and builds her a special "intercourse robot" to keep her entertained so she'll stop bothering him. But when the woman falls in

I absolutely loved it, and not just for the sexy bits (which are really sexy.) Jess Fink manages to use even the borders in her comic, by having them shift from inorganic to organic depending on the kind of scene and the energy in it. Because it is an unscripted comic it can be a little hard to follow sometimes, but eventually you undrestand because of the beautiful way the art tells the story.

If you want to read something lovely, pretty, and totally hot, you should read Chester5000XYV.

I didn't know what I was getting into when I first looked at the cover but WOW this is a great little erotic comic. The fact that there is no words makes it even better, the story line is wonderful and very easy to follow.
Read this 'awhile' ago, don't know why GR is suggesting it now?
Have nothing to say about it.
Adult-ish content, or maybe 'little boyish' content?

Had grabbed some publicity for this at a conference a long time ago because the cover art was cool. Came up on sale on Comixology a few weeks ago so I thought, why not?

More explicit than I had expected, but actually kind of a sweet story. And well told considering there's no actual text. Certainly won't be something everyone would like, but it's well done. Certainly no more explicit than a lot of romance novels, except that people are traditionally much more comfortable with descriptions than i

I wish I could give this book one billion stars. I LOVED Chester 5000-XYV, and my only regret is that I didn't read it sooner.

The story was fantastic, the characters were real, the sex was hot, the artwork is gorgeous -- phenomenal, really. Jess Fink forever!

Hot stuff! What do you expect if you build for your wife a fully functional sex robot to take care of her needs because you are too busy building robots?

I love the art work, though the ebook version renders differently depending on the device used - e-ink Kindles tend to put too much white space around the page and allow one to zoom in to pan and scan, while my 7" tablet has less white space, higher resolution, but no zoom.
