I traveled for 7 weeks through Italy this past summer (2008) and visited the following cities: Perugia, most of the Umbria region, Assisi, Spello, Spoleto, Orvieto, Verona, Lake Como, La Spezia, Rome, Cinque Terre, Milan, Florence, Pisa, and Siena.
Great when used in combination with the rough guide. This one was best for planning both the overall trip (lodging, etc.) and day by day for attractions, walks, etc. Rough guide gave more detailed information about each individual site, etc. but was more difficult to use as an overview.
I used this back in 2001 for our Italy trip. We flew on Sept 11 and were in the air at the time of the American attacks. Didn't find out until the next morning which was weird.
Will be super helpful in April for the big trip!
Excellent Guide to Italy!!
Out of date, but lots of good information
My advice was be to buy regional or city guides instead. Material in this is so brief to be almost useless.
irish man.. irish wedding.. and the coasts of italy.. need i say more?
good and very useful, but there a few errors of omission, etc.
Very helpful for Cori and my travels around Italy!
Well...I read parts of it...
