I didn't know who Rachel Zolf was before I heard her read a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it's best to approach this kind of poetry this way: wholly unprepared. So I'd sat through a couple of pretty interesting readings by other poets already, and then suddenly: If the Sabbath is a form of constraint / If jihād is the first word learned ... / If the truth does not lie in silence More...
