I recently read Just Add Magic by Cindy Callaghan. Kelly had just found a bunch of hidden recipes in her attic! She hopes that her two friends, Darbie O'Brien and Hanna will help her mix up a secret cooking club with recipes that are for their eyes only. But when the friends get two creepy warnings in fifteen minuets, they have to beware of the law of returns. This book was very suspenseful because when they made a recipe they always ran into the law of returns. The book sometimes had a p...more

It all starts when Kelly finds an old encyclopedia while she’s cleaning out her attic. Except it’s not an encyclopedia—it’s got handwritten recipes pasted over the pages of the printed book. Kelly loves to cook, and she enlists her two best friends to be part of a cooking club in her family’s kitchen. But when the trio decides to mix up recipes from the book, their concoctions lead to consequences both good and bad.

Cooking always has just a little bit of mystery, and Cindy Callaghan’s Just Add M...more

Just Add Magic was a delightful debut by Cindy Callaghan. Kelly Quinn was a sweet and likable main character and reading about her adventures was a lot of fun.

When Kelly discovers an old recipe book in her attic she's beyond excited. It's Kelly's dream to grow up and be a famous chef. I loved reading about all the different recipes Kelly made and most of them sounded delicious. It definitely made me in the mood to bake! But when Kelly and her friends start cooking things out of the secret recip...more

I have to say Just Add Magic is a fantastically cute and well-written book for young girls .. and even the older girls too!

Kelly Quinn is a typical 12-year-old, wanna-be chef extraordinaire who, with her two BFF's, Darbie and Hannah, forms a 'Secret Cooking Club' after she finds a very old, very mysterious and possibly magic recipe...more

What an fun and engaging story! Looking back at seventh grade, it would have been nice to add some magic and spice things up in Home Ec. Class! Three best friends, one bothersome younger brother, the neighbors and the craziness of parents, plus a bit of magical cooking, adds up to one very enjoyable book!

I was excited to get this as a Giveaway. Seventh grader Kelly and her BFFs Darbie and Hannah start up a cooking club after Kelly discovers some recipes pasted into an old encyclopedia in her attic. However, these recipes have strange effects on those who add the spices and those that consume them. Could something magical be happening?
Kelly and her friends seem like girls I'd like to know.
