Reread June 3rd 2015!

I loved this one as much as I loved the previous two Dark Secrets collections.

Anna O'Neill Kirkpatrick has come to Wisteria to visit her great Uncle at his request, on the grounds that he wished to tell her something about the O'Neill family, only to find that he had died several days before. Instead she finds herself in the company of her crazy great Aunt Iris, who according to the O'Neill family is either psychic or psychotic. Anna doesn't yet believe she's psychic. Howeve

If there's anything I've learned from this series, it's that the bad guy is always the person you're supposed to suspect the least. But after 5 stories? You kind of figure out that the nicest character is most likely going to try to murder the MC at some point.

This book was crazy. There were so many secrets and it was mysterious and suspenseful. Such a thriller. It was just as good as the other Elizabeth Chandler books.
Good story, interesting and quiet spooky :P
There are different reasons for reading books, sometimes to simply appreciate the beauty of the writing, sometimes to learn something, sometimes to open your mind to new ideas... there are tons of reasons. My reason for reading this one was pretty simple, I needed an escape, all I was doing for weeks was revising and needed a book that I could read for a couple of minutes a day and feel relief, escape.

I wanted fluff. Complete and utter fluff. Nothing that would make me think too hard but also, n

I absolutely love the romance in this book. I love how you don't know it Zack is using Anna or actually trying to help her up until the end. I thought it was interesting how instead of Anna's crazy aunt decided to help Anna instead of her daughter that ended up being even more crazy than her. This book had a lot of thought in the after world and in spirits people supposedly leave behind when they die. Aunt Iris had this ability to talk with dead people. But since it was a small town she lived in ...more

I’ve read a majority of Elizabeth Chandler’s work, and I truly love her writing style and her characters. So I was very, very excited to read this installment in the Dark Secrets series. But to be honest, it wasn’t anything extraordinary. I feel as though it was a rehash of the previous Dark Secrets novels. I knew who the killer was long before it was revealed, and that ruined the ending of the story for me.

Elizabeth Chandler still has her distinct writing style, and her unique way of building

The Back Door Of Midnight by Elizabeth Chandler
I have read all the books in this series and I love them all. This book is the fifth in the series. I loved The Back Door Of Midnight. It was a good book because it was a little different than the other books in the series. The plot is kind of the same but it doesn't take place in the same town.
I loved how Anna was independent and unwilling to trust the people who were trying to help her. Also how she trusted those who were trying to hurt her, but

If I could I would give this book another 1/2 star. I wasn't too sure if I was going to like this book until about chapter six, but I ended up really liking it.

Chandler weaves a story with interesting characters. Right up until the end, I did not know what all the secrets were. I can usually figure out what is going to happen at the end of the book, but Chandler doesn't give away her secrets until she is ready to.

The Back Door of Midnight

When Anna gets a letter from her uncle telling her to come stay with him for the summer, and talk about her birth family, she thinks it's a good idea. But when she gets there and finds a supposedly psychic woman as her aunt, and that her uncle is burned she starts to wonder. Maybe this small town has secrets of its own because of two unsolved murders, and crazy dreams, it can't be just her, can it? The Back Door of Midnight by Elizabeth Candler is a murder mystery about

A mystery involving a crazy aunt and a murdered uncle with a closet full of family skeletons. Highly suspenseful with a likeable main character. However, the explanations of "out of body" experiences were out of place. I think it could have been an even better book with one more edit to tighten up the plot.

I've read every Dark Secrets book and loved them. This one was no exception. The plot, the characters, the details, everything was perfect. I was riveted from the very beginning. And I never guessed who the killer was until it was right in front of my face! Such a good book.

I love reading Dark Secrets because it makes you really think and guess who the killer is. And it ends up as somebody totally unexpected that you wouldn't even guess. if you did, good for you. lol but that's what suspense is all about right?

The book I am reading is very intriguing. It talks about an eighteen-year-old girl that comes to visit her uncle William. They have a very strong bond because he took in her biological mother when her parents kicked her out. They even took care of her when her mother died in a robbery. Anna wants to visit her uncle but when she gets to Wisteria, her “psychic” crazy aunt tells her that her uncle died in a fire. Anna is shocked to hear that her uncle had died. She had been having s

If The Backdoor of Midnight was to be given a genre by myself, It would be categorized into the mystery, yet suspenseful genre. The book begins with the perfect hook of a young adult, Anna O'Neill, who is apart of a well-known family of psychics who grew up on Scarborough Road, in a small town Wisteria. Anna had been dreaming that her Uncle Will had died in a fire set off by a group of teenagers in the back of his pickup truck. "I hear a confusion of voices, people talking and laughing. I really liked this book. Anna, the main character, was really intriguing and not in the least bit annoying. In the beginning i hated Zack but later on I started to like him bit by bit. Erika I absolutely hated the whole way through, not once did I ever like her at all. Aunt Iris was never really that crazy I found. I was very shocked by Marcy and what turn her character had taken. I feel like this book really wanted everyone to be somehow connected to one another even though at times it wasn't ...more

I finished reading The Back Door of Midnight last night and I absolutely loved it. It took me 2 nights to read the entire book!! I think I have a slight addiction... SLIGHT. I picked up the book, planning on reading for 20 minutes- and hours later I was still captivated. I tried to put it down and sleep after awhile but I was restless because I wanted to know what would happen next soo bad! It was early morning before I actually went to sleep.

When Anna O'Neill receives a letter from her Uncle Will, requesting that she visit, she doesn't think much of it. She expects to spend the summer before college getting to know her only remaining family better, but instead, upon her arrival in Wisteria, she finds out that Uncle Will has been murdered. The police have no real leads, and her possibly psychic or just crazy Aunt Iris is no help at all. Anna can't just let it be, especially when she finds out that her uncle's murder may be connected ...more

This is the kind of story I really like. It had such an awesome mixture of paranormal, mystery, suspense, and romance in it. It held my attention from the very first page. I've always been a fan of Elizabeth Chandler's Dark Secrets stories, and this was a great addition to the list.

Anna was one of my favorite characters of Chandler's so far. She was so smart and resourceful. She's on her own throughout the story, and when she arrives at her aunt and uncle's house, she really just takes charge a

Okay I can say that this is not my favorite story written by Elizabeth Chandler, even though I still loved it!! I dont kno how to completely explain how I felt about this book. But I dont feel that it was as original as her other books. I kept having moments where I thought of one of her other books, as if different moments were repeats from another book. I saw much of 'Kissed By an Angle' and 'Dont Tell' in this story. Not that I am complaining since I absolutely loved both of those books but I ...more
The last book in the Dark Secrets series. A series that was mainly a hit to me, with one exception.

Luckily this story was good. Mysterious murders, psychics and more!

Anna arrives at Wisteria to find out her Uncle died, and her Aunt being totally crazy. She is shocked but determined to find out the truth, especially since she had some dreams. Dreams that continue and even become out of body experiences.

Iris was really scary for most of the book, I also thought she was the one to kill Uncle Willi

"I read the first book in Chandler's Dark Secrets series, Legacy of Lies, in 2007 during the last half of my 8th grade year. I fell in love and went in search online for the titles of the others. My search quickly turned up the next three books in the series, which I read. There was also mention of a fifth book in the series, The Back Door of Midnight. I looked all over the place onl

I love Elizabeth Chandler. LOVE her. Her two Dark Secrets novels Don’t Tell and No Time to Die are two of my absolute favorite, and they are the books that really got me into reading many, many years ago. The mystery, the characters, the setting, and the romance are dead on in those books, and I have never had a complaint, so I was sure I would love The Back Door of Midnight. While I do like it, I don’t love it as I had hoped.

In typical Elizabeth Chandler Dark Secrets fashion, a teenage girl ret

The Back Door of Midnight, by Elizabeth Chandler, is about a teenager, Anna O’Neill. When Anna was a little girl she lived with her aunt and uncle after her mother was killed in a house robbery. Soon after the robbery she was adopted and moved to live with her new mother and siblings. Anna had still visited her Uncle Will and Aunt Iris in Wisteria every now and then. Although she hadn’t seen them in a wile when she got a letter in the mail from her Uncle Will. “Dear Anna, Would you visit us this ...more
