Then the private yacht she’s blissfully napping on is “commandeered” by some man who says his name is Max Zamora, and that he works for the government.
It sounds crazy, but Max is telling the truth — his cover’s been blown, he’s on the run, and now he’s confronted by a very angry — and beautiful — woman. He’s seen Lola before — barely clothed on covers of fashion magazines. But she’s more beautiful in person. From the top of her pert blonde head to the tips of her little painted toes, Max finds her sexy, curvy… and a pain in the butt. And that’s before she blows up the ship!
Now, the unlikely pair is stranded in the middle of the ocean, it’s getting very hot — not just from the sun — and Lola is about to reveal it all…

Take one top-secret, deny everything, ‘this operation doesn’t exist’ operative: Max Zamora. With his cover blown, recently tortured, and on the run from the drug lord whose son he accidentally killed, Max is desperate and deadly.
Take one private yacht, where former lingerie supermodel Lola Carlyle and her tiny dog Baby Doll are ‘resting’ after Lola swizzled too many drinks, weighed down by the worries her ex-fiancÃ© has created by smuttily reaping a huge profit publishing nude photos of her on the net. Lola does not appreciate this same yacht being `commandeered’ by Max in the name of the government.
In fact, she resists her `kidnapping’ to the point where Max is forced to tie her up with her ripped skirt, and threatens to drop-kick her dog over the side. And that’s before she accidentally sets fire to the boat, wrecks the GPS, the steering and just about every other thing the boat needs to operate, effectively stranding them in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle. Needless to say Max is not impressed. Well, neither is Lola.
It grabbed my attention immediately, unlike her other, slower reads. I also liked the way Gibson handled the bulimia. I don’t think the topic was glossed over at all, and it’s true – most of us don’t naturally look like Barbie. It’s also interesting how some people (like Lola’s slimy ex-fiance) preferred Lola to look like a waif, even when she nearly died trying to maintain that body.
Gibson’s greatest strengths in my estimation are her humor and her frank style. In this regard, Lola is trademark Gibson. Lola and Max are under fire from the elements and the greedy drug guys, but Gibson keeps the tone humorous, and there is often an element of absurdity thrown in. The dialogue is convincing and charming – even though it’s also crude. I had to laugh when Max tried to find the right words to tell Lola that she’s great in bed. The words he chooses (as the lesser of two evils) are not exactly your standard Prince Charming fare.
But Max’s character didn’t suit. Firstly, I found Ms Gibson’s SEAL different from Ms Brockmann’s SEAL. Yes, Max was tough, a loner, bent on a mission and made himself pretty clear as to what he wanted and didn’t want in life. But I found it too convenient that he gave up his job and wanted children – a turn around from his earlier testimonial. I think if Gibson had them spend less pages on the yacht, more in depth emotional entanglement, that particular about face might have been plausible.
It is a nice, light ready and a fun way to pass the day. But don’t expect any emotional tangle and the characters won’t stay with you once you’ve turned the last page.

I like a good fluffy romance. It doesn't have to be particularly deep. But I'd like it to make sense, and I'd like it to not perpetuate gender stereotypes so much that I want to throw it against a wall. This fails.

Look, it's ok to start with some stereotypes. But the characters should be able to rise above them a bit. Here, there are repeated opportunities, all of which are missed. For example, the dude is trying to fish. He's using the wrong lure. Supermodel turns out to have had a grandfather who ran a sport fishing boat, so she corrects him, and catches a fish before he does. Awesome. Nice way to bring him down a notch and make him see her like a person. But the author couldn't leave it there. No, he has to then catch a bigger fish than she did. Because he's a man. A manly man. And men are better fishers than women, even when it's established that he's less experienced.

Also, the plot never goes anywhere. Or rather, it goes a bunch of random places. He gets beat up by the drug lords he's trying to bring down, hesteals her boat with her on it, she accidently blows up the controls trying to defend herself. They drift for awhile, giving them time to get to know each other. Great. They land on an island, then discover it's a drug cache. Awesome. They steal the drug runner's boat and get away. Hurray. Have a big showdown with the drug lord and declare victory.

But no, that doesn't happen. They get back to the mainland. There's a little bit where he's decided it's unprofessional to call her and she can't find him, which is abandoned almost immediately. They break into her ex's house and steal some embarrassing photos the ex put on the internet. Nothing really happens with this either. She takes him to her family ruin. Nothing happens there. She's an ex-bulimic who never actually goes into crisis (or has teeth problems), so it's useless characterization. He gets called on another mission, she hands him an ultimatum and walks out when he chooses the job over her, he goes on the job and we don't see what happens, then he shows up and declares that he wants her more than the job and completely undoes all of the characterization from the whole book. Also, we're told, not shown. WTF?

And the drug lords? Never show up again. Despite the fact that much is made of them, despite the fact that her disappearance and reappearance make the news and should make it really easy for them to find her. Major plot, completely dropped.

Basically, this was awful. And because I'm an awful person, I put it back on the shelf for the next unwary reader. Sorry, next reader.

Lola, Lola, Lola.. For a woman who's supposed to have seen and experienced a lot in her 30 years, you sure are dumb. When you fight and rebel against the directives of a man whose entire career was based on surviving the impossible, it does not give you character nor does it prove that you're an independent woman with a backbone, my dear. No, what it does is make the reader pray that Max would honor his words when he promised to punt you and your annoying little dog off the boat.

As for you, Max, I'd like you to know how disappointed I am in your ability to utilize all your years of training when stuck with a blubbering idiot with a nice pair of breasts. Even I, a simple civilian with no survival training other than watching Lost, Bear Grylls, and that movie about that plane that crashed and the survivors were forced to resort to cannibalism.. Wait, what was I saying? Oh, right -- Even I know that you're not supposed to use your last flare gun when there are no ships in sight just because a supermodel is upset and wants you to fire it. But you know what? Even though you were thinking with the wrong head, I forgave you because I was slightly worried that the other vessel was actually an enemy ship and was relieved when they didn't find you because you were still weakened from being tortured by them. What I did find unforgivable was when Lola shoved her hand down your pants and demanded you make love to her when four heavily armed members of a drug cartel were only a shout away, and you actually did it! When the only weapon you had was a fishing knife! And you were supposed to be incognito! I know it takes two and all that, but it's been established very early on that Lola is the stereotypical happy go lucky bimbo and since you were relegated to the extremely unfortunate role of her protector, the fault lies with you.
What happened to being this super competent and badass commando/spy dude? Because lemme tell ya something, that was really fucking stupid of you. You know who else are badass commando/spy dudes but are actually competent at what they do and don't let anything compromise their women's lives or their objective? Lee Nightingale, Hawk Delgado, and their boys, that's who. (less)

I enjoy the writing style of Rachel Gibson and will re-read most of the books that I have read of hers. This one included.

I've now read all of Rachel Gibsons' backlist. This one was enjoyable and a bit different from her hockey series. In this case the heroine is famous - she's a well known model and the hero is a secret agent type. Their first meeting is absolutely terrifying for her - he (all beaten up and bleeding) commandeers the yacht she's sleeping on, not knowing she's there and when she walks in on him proceeds to rip of her skirt and hogties her with the pieces.

Rachel Gibson'ı gerçekten seviyorum.
Biten 2 hatta İlişki Durumu: Karmaşık'ı da sayarsak 3 serisinden sonra böyle kısa sürede yeni bir kitabına kavuşmak çok mutlu etmişti. Nitekim beklentilerim de karşılandı. Tesadüfler Adası'nı çok sevdim.
Devlet adına gizli işler yapan Max'in, ünlü model Lola içindeyken el koyduğu gemiyle kötü adamların elinden kaçmasıyla başlıyor olaylar. Ve işler bundan sonra hareketleniyor. Atışmalar, sataşmalar, deniz de mahsur kalmalar. Kısaca çok eğlenceli bir tutsaklık a...more

This book was a pleasant surprise! I was expecting it to be more of a 'fluff' or 'ditzy chick' type of book, but it actually had a very good story line! I enjoyed the action-adventure aspect of the story, the fact that a lot of the setting was based in the Caribbean on a yacht, and the icing on the cake (so to speak) was the main male character, Max Zamora.

Letzte Woche will ich in die Mittagspause gehen und was sehe ich da? Ich habe kein Buch mitgenommen. Aaaahhhhhh. Also auf auf in die firmeninterne Bibliothek und schnell ein Buch ausleihen. Da ich noch diverse Rezensionsexemplare habe, habe ich mich für ein dünnes Buch entschieden, welches sich leicht lesen lässt und entsprechend nicht viel Zeit benötigt.

Es ist also dieses hier geworden. Nach Abschluss des Buches muss ich allerdings gestehen, dass ich absolut keine Ahnung habe, was das Cover mit dem Inhalt des Buches zu tun hat. Immerhin finde ich den deutschen Titel schöner als den Originaltitel (Lola Carlyle reveals all).

Lola ist ein ehemaliges Dessousmodel, die nach einer privaten Katastrophe Abstand auf einer Insel der Bahamas sucht. Nach einer feuchtfröhlichen Feier auf einer Jacht übernachtet sie dort im alkoholbedingten Koma, als der Geheimagent Max Zamora auf der Flucht vor der Drogenmafia das Boot und den blinden Passagier samt Schoßhund Baby Doll requiriert. Wie es das Genre so will, mögen unsere beiden Protagonisten sich am Anfang nicht sehr, was in diesem Fall aber auch verständlich ist. Für Lola ist die Sache eindeutig. Max ist ein Krimineller, der sie und Hund entführt hat. Er wird sie vergewaltigen und dann im Meer versenken. Max hingegen findet Lolas Anwesenheit mehr als nervig. Er versucht einfach nur, sein Leben zu retten und dann taucht Lola auf, die aufmüpfig ist, ihn beschießt und dann Schuld ist, dass das Boot manövrierunfähig ist.

Der Schreibstil von Frau Gibson ist wieder mal locker, spritzig, zwischendurch auch recht derb für diese Art von Büchern. Max ist ein Kind aus einfachen bis ärmlichen Familienverhältnissen, der seit 18 Jahren als Soldat durch die Gegend zieht. Das spiegelt sich in seiner Sprache auch wieder.

Inhaltlich bewegen wir uns hier im üblichen Liebesroman-Verfahren. War ich aber bei „Was sich liebt, das küsst sich“ total begeistert, ist dieses hier kaum mehr als nette Unterhaltung.

Ich kann nicht mal groß meckern, es gab eigentlich nichts, was mir wirklich missfallen hat, aber irgendwie fand ich es nicht so toll.

This was a light fun, sweet read. I liked Lola, but I loved Max! I mean half Cuban and half Swedish and all testosterone, what is not to love? Nothing about the rout was new, as Max is on the run after a failed job and he ends up kidnapping...err...commandeering the boat that Lola and her mini Pincher Baby Doll was sleeping on. Why? Because I did. I just loved this story [I'll say this a few more times before this review is over]. I think this is my favorite Rachel Gibson. I only have two more to read.. so can safely say, this is the BOMB!

A cute, light-hearted romance with a touch of suspense. I think the dog, Baby Doll, really made the story for me. Not my favorite by Rachel Gibson but I'm glad I read it.

Lola Carlyle Reveals All is a decent story but it was soooooooo all over the place. The beginning in the Bahamas and the boat were well organized and thought out and the second half was as if the publisher said "hmmmmm I wonder what happened after they were rescued and can we force a sequel?"......

If you like action, drama and saucy romance this is definitely the book for you. From the minute I started reading this, I was captivated. Throughout the book, jokes will make you laugh out loud just like they did for me. I find that all of the books from Little Black Dress publishing are amazing and this one was no exception. Complete fluff. It kind of ended in a "HFN" (happy, for now), as I really could not get behind Lola and Max staying together forever. At some point he would be restless and resentful and her amazing double D's would fail to sidetrack him from his boredom.
The plot was a little thin, although I respect Ms. Gibson for having done some obvious research into tactical ops. The sex scenes were decent but that's really the only chemistry there was between the characters, IMO.

I'd say that this was a strong 3+ book but not RG's best one. It was a little bit unclear if she was going for romantic comedy, contemporary romance or romantic suspense and I guess therefore it didn't grip me. Compared to Julie James' FBI series this book didn't stand a chance It was a fun read and I like RG but I wouldn't really recommend this one if any of these books are still on your TBR:

I haven't read a book from Rachel Gibson in a long time so I was really excited to get into 'Lola Carlyle Reveals All'. I've had my eye on it for a while but hadn't had the chance to pursue it until now.

Max was barely able to escape with his life and now he has to deal with a supermodel and her yippie dog. To make a bad day even worse she melted the shit out of the navigation panel when she shot it with a flare gun. Now they are stuck at sea, with a drug cartel after Max. The chances of them being rescued alive are slim to none…

Review:
This is actually a re-read for me. I don’t remember this book being as funny as it was this time through. I’d have to say the re-read was better than the original run through. Max is a sexy ex-Navy SEAL who now works for the part of the government that does not exist. He’s a real man’s man who is like MacGyver. Give him some duct tape and a few random items and he will try to make something of use with them. He doesn’t think love is for him and doesn’t have to try so hard to remain detached from his “lady friends”, that is until Lola. Lola is surprisingly funny and sassy! She doesn’t take shit from the big bad Max Zamora and holds her own in life or death situations. With Lola you get a glimpse of a recovering bulimic, which sheds some light on the incredibly demanding fashion industry and the media’s idea of what a woman should look like. I for one am glad that Rachel Gibson went there and put out how incredibly unrealistic media’s and fashions idea of what a woman’s body should look like and the lengths some woman will go to too meet it. Gibson is saying it’s ok to have curves!

I couldn't remember why I didn't like this book as much as I usually like Ms Gibson's so I read it again. Now I remember: 1) they're stranded in the middle of the ocean for at least four days and both of the main characters think about how wonderful the other one smells. Come on!! This was a good read but I didn't enjoy it as much as the other Rachel Gibson books. It is still worth reading. It's good knowing that even the beautiful people have their own problems.

I tried to give Rachel Gibson a second chance and so I read this book. The story definitely had an out of this world premise --- an underwear model commandeered by an undercover government agent who get stranded in the middle of an ocean. I felt this was better than the other Rachel Gibson book I read, "It Must Be Love" but still not at par with the contemporary romance novels I usually like to read. Hot! Hot! Hot!!! Not an intelligent read, not brilliant but it was VERY ENTERTAINING and I couldn't stop reading. I would compare to Fifty Shades of Grey. It's a good story and a stretch believable but it's FUN! A palm twitcher. Hide it from your YA. Wish there was a lock on books. A PW lock so my YA can't download it to her device - someone develop that please!

I read this book on vacation, thought it was OK, and now can't remember much of it at all.

Hm. There's a dog. And a boat. Karen Robards did stuff like this in the 80s--spy man accidentally kidnaps cute girl and then they're on the lam together--and I really enjoyed the way the suspense lent urgency to the romantic chemistry. This one didn't really manage that.

It's funny, not overly believable and a very enjoyable read in under a day. No it's not high literature and doesn't aim to be, but any book with a pivotal sex scene occurring within earshot of a bunch of armed Columbian drug runners can't be all bad!

For a grood read when you don't need to overly tax the grey stuff!
