I got called into Principal Miller's office again. She handed me a notebook. This notebook. She told me keeping a journal is an excellent way to express oneself. So I have to write in this stupid thing and turn it in at the end of each month.

Little does she know what she's in for. With everything that's been going on--Amy's band camp pregnancy, my parents' divorce, a secre...more

Let me start off by saying I love The Secret Life of an American Teenager, the TV show. Since I love the show, I figured I would love the book too. I liked the book, but to be honest it felt like I was watching a re-run of the show and I'm not a huge fan of re-runs... I don't even re-read books (not even the ones I LOVE) ! When I know what's going to happen and there aren't any kind of surprises in it for me, I get bored and tend to stop reading... which is kind of what I did with this book. I r...more

I decided to read the book a while ago because i've seen the show and i figured why not. I found that when i read this book, there was a couple of things you couldn't see in the show. However,i did feel a little board-- it was pretty much the same thing as the show just in ashleys piont of view.I did like though that it you,the reader got to know what she was thinking and how she felt; They don't really say how she's thinking on the show much unless she is writing or talking to someone so i found...more

Little does she know what she's in for. With everything that's been going on—Amy's band camp pregnancy, my parents' divorce, a secret wedding—it's practically one-stop shopping for all your Grant High gossip needs.

Surprised to say it's a high 2. While reading this book so many thoughts came to mind, I really should have written them down.
First off for my own records I'd just like to say someone sent me this book, of course they didn't force me to read it that of course was my choice. I'll admit that I don't completely regret that choice but I also can't think of anything positive to say about it, other than the writing wasn't bad.
I can't stand the show The Secret Life of the American Teenager (yes I writ...more

I got this book with little hope that it would be good. I watch the show despite the fact it is an obvious train wreck. They are trying to follow way to many people at the same time. I actually really liked this book and enjoyed reading it. It told the same story, but from one point of view instead of jumping all over the place like the show does. She is witty and smart and I love a lot of her comments. :) This book might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I seriously enjoyed it.

I am a secret watcher of The Secret Life of the American Teenager. (Aw dang it, I guess the secret's out now.) However, the show seriously does suck. I am so embarrassed that I watch it, but it's like a train wreck you just can't look away from.

So of course I wanted to read this book, the fictional diary of the fictional Ashley. And I've just got to say - if only Ashley narrated the show, it would be a million times better! All the repetitive and stupid dialogue was erased and all that was left...more

Read this because I watched the TV series, "Secrets of the American Teenager". Really enjoyed it. I could visualize Ashley's expressions as I read this book. Fun read.

Best novelty book ever! It is so much more well-written than the show that I just want Ashley to narrate all the insane happenings from now on. She's the best.

This was a very good book. Watching the first few seasons of the show kind of ruined the experience for me though.

Hilarious! Definitely shows why she's one of my favorite characters. Hope there's a sequel soon...

This is the first season of secret life from Ashley's perspective. There are little details and rants to make it interesting, but it covers all the main points which if you watch the show, you already knew what happened. It's a nice side story, but I wouldn't bother reading it unless you're a hardcore fan or Ashley is your favorite character.

"The Secret Life of the American Teenager" is somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me, so I thought I would give this a try.

All I can say is, it was better than the actual television show.
