Since we're onto the circus arc and I have no clue what's going to happen next, I'm back to reviewing this. I can see why everyone was so disappointed that the circus arc wasn't adapted, because wow, this is amazing so far! Obligatory praise of Ciel looking gorgeous on the front cover here. And the inside cover. And, um, every panel.
The balance in this arc between humour and relaxed scenes, and drama and exposition is perfect. It's a nice change of pace from the last arc (did someone say curry?)...more

Ciel is sent on a mission to uncover the mystery of missing children in Black Butler, Vol. 6 . The children coincidentally disappear around the same time that the traveling Noah's Ark Circus arrives in town, so Ciel and Sebastian must go undercover to solve the case.
The mystery and humor was nicely balanced in this volume. I enjoyed Ciel's humbling training a little too much. I like to see him brought down a few notches because he always has a stick up his butt.

The circus is awesome!! Snakeman and Joker are my favorites. Mosty I love the part where Sebastian is obsessing over the tiger and he eats Sebatians head!! hehe so cute.
Black and Smile joins the circus, to smile's utter disappiontment. Poor Ciel, branded for life like a common cow.
The grim reaper at the circus raises suspision, and it is the reaper that took Grelle away earlier in the series. Interesting... and he has to share his room with Sebastian. Ha poor reaper is ab...more

Mmmmmmm! Ciel is looking good on this cover!
This volume takes place mostly at the circus. Sebastian's love of cats strikes and the butler and master are roped into the troupe while investigating the disappearance of some children. In the middle of this mess, they bump into Will, so they know that they are onto something. But this turn of events comes with a few hitches. Will Will and Sebastian be able to share the same tent without killing one another? Will Ciel be able to keep his identity a se...more

I have always been attracted to circuses, so a circus + Sebastian + the grim reaper definitely deserves a 5 star rating. Sebastian is so natural as a member of the circus. And poor Ciel, it was so funny to watch him forced to be independent, not knowing how to cook, perform or dress! And I was not expecting the grim reaper in the same tent as Sebastian, nice surprise!

In this particular volume, Ciel and Sebastian are investigating the disappearances of multiple children in England. They end up joining the Noah's Ark Circus, where they think the children could be located...and so far, they aren't. I love how the author makes this series so dark and mysterious while managing to interpret quite a bit of humor into the pages. There are a countless amount of times where I've just been sitting there cracking up while my eyes were scanning through the book. The only...more
While I enjoyed the last few volumes of Black Butler and looked forward to reading on, I can't help but be disappointed with the sixth volume. I didn't enjoy the new story arc at all (centering around the circus that's new in town) and really can't wait for the arc to finish or get better. The cliffhanger ending promised that volume seven might get interesting and I really hope it does! I read this volume in the bookstore and it made me sleepy as hell because it bored me so much. So yeah, disapp...more
The start of the Circus arc! It is very much concentrated around the relationship between Ciel and Sebastian, as well as exploring the inner workings of the Circus and the people who work there. It's also nice to see Ciel work by himself and without Sebastian's assistance, even for a little while. We also see the return of a certain glasses-wearing character and small glimpses into Ciel's past. I really wished I owned volume seven because this one ended on a rather tense cliffhanger!

This was a great volume. I loved the circus, though I'm not certain if that was because it was cool itself or because I just finished The Night Circus and was simply trilled with the idea of a circus. Still, this circus isn't much like Le Cirque des Rêves. But it does has it's own quirks, and there are definitely some secrets behind the first-string cast. It's definitely entertaining to see Ciel in a situation where things are not handed to him....more

The story in this one, I found, wasn't as great as the others. It didn't have the humor nor the certain touch of mysteriousness to it that the others did. It lacked the "draw" that the other books lured me into. I enjoyed the story, it had a great beginning to the new mystery, but it lagged on more than the others and I couldn't quite get into it as easily.

Ciel and Sebastian run away to join the circus! Okay, they go undercover as acrobats to investigate disappearing children at the request of the Queen. As acrobats, it is very clear that Ciel isn't hiding any secret physical skills, which I love. His power is all in his devious little brain and his ability to stack the deck with a demonic butler, why would he need to walk a tightrope? Other than for our amusement, of course.

Beast no me ha...more

The circus arc is, so far, one of the funniest and most enjoyable. Vol. 6 is only the first part, and it feels heavier on humor and fun than the mystery, but that's mostly okay by me. I love the new characters, Sebastian and the tiger, seeing Ciel out of his element, and the surprise reappearance of a certain character. Not to mention watching Sebastian rule at circus acts, and Ciel's little outfit (SMILE)!
I love circus stories, so add a darkness to it, and I'm hooked! I love this story of the missing children and I'm looking forward to the next volume- we experience a cliffhanger at the end of this volume that is quite healthy...I need more! Not much backstory between Ciel and Sebastian but the other storylines are getting so interesting, I'm not dying to find out yet.
i really liked this volume of black butler series. i was quite surprised when ciel was given the name "SMILE"! i mean come on giving that name to a boy who has never laughed for nearly 2 yrs now is quite ridiculous! and the fact that William was to share the room with Sebastian was quite funny!oh i completely forgot about him as usual he was fab! and a tiger biting his head was so... but i never thought that he would be able to perform so well in a circus. well that's Sebastian for you!

I'm in love with the manga black butler, it's one of my all time favorites. I understand it's not for everyone, but I enjoy reading it, and re-reading it in some cases, it's a refreshing read and it's always fun. Albeit, sometimes very dark and very creepy, as you get along you get a more indepth feel of the work, but it's a great piece. LOVE black butler!
Hurrah circuses! Always one of my favourite story settings. Mostly humour with a bit of suspense mixed in. I honestly have no idea what's up with the missing children so yay for a competent mystery? I'm going to guess the circus head, I reserve the right to pretend I said nothing if I'm wrong. 3 stars

Ciel and Sebastien infiltrate Noah's Circus, but find...!? This tankoubon is a good mix of comedy and DUN DUN DUN moments, and ends on a "cliffhanger." ... unless you accidentally spoil yourself on wikipedia like me. :(

Yay! Ciel and his butler join the circus! Sure, they're looking for some missing children who might not even still be alive, but THEY JOINED THE CIRCUS. How much fun is that?
Okay, there really is no way to say this without sounding like a creep, so I'm just going to say it... DAMN Ciel looks sexy as HELL on the cover XD Haha, thank you Japan for making us all creepers :-p
I really liked the circus theme of this volume (and no surprise, the circus crew is a bunch of sexy bitches too).
