If Morgan didn't think she was traumatized enough as it was, she's even more upset with having to deal with the reality of the previous book's events. The boy she loved tried to kill her in order to save her from his mother's evil intentions. Her biological mother had an affair with someone that was decidedly not her mate Angus. Add onto this some blossoming feelings for the mysterious Hunter & it's no wonder that Morgan is feeling very overwhelmed.

The first 2-3 books in this series are addictive, a fresh "modern-teen" POV in the tired genre of witches/kids with supernatural powers finding themselves (and the wonder of Wicca) among families/communities who "don't get it".
After #3, it goes downhill. There is no psychological development of the main characters (and the secondary characters are quite shallowly described and hard to distinguish throughout the series; even the more promising and believable ones, B More...

Today's review is on Awakening by Cate Tiernan
Awakening is the 5th book in the Sweep series, and as the last I found I really enjoyed it. Perhaps I am getting soft in my old age, but I did find myself smiling some and crying just a bit too.
Cal and Selene have fled town leaving Morgan with not only a hole in her heart, but a hole in her life. She tells her family simply that she and Cal had gotten into a fight and that she broke up with him. She then realizes that the b More...

The coven leader for Cirrus is gone, and everything seems to have been torn apart for poor Morgon who was literally just starting to learn who she was. The emotions are tragic and yet cliche of that which belong to a heartbroken teenage girl. But in many respects this is a good thing because of how it is shown, giving it this much deeper feel of reality. However there still seems to be some mystery behind Hunter and Sky. What I didn't expect was for there to be some mystery behind David from pra

These books move so quickly. Pretty good so far. In comparison to some other similar-ish teen series (The Immortals come to mind), this series gives our main girl some brains. So often, the main character makes mistakes. Which is great, which is what growing up is all about. However, often they are BAD mistakes, with disastrous consequences and often, she makes the same types of mistakes and assumptions repeatedly. Here, Morgan has suspicions where any logical girl might, and she acts on them, a

I absolutely adore these books. The plot line in them is so interesting and unique that you cannot help but to devour them. I've never read another series like the Sweep series. Awakening just made me love it even more. Following Morgan through her tantalizing love life is just driving me crazy. There is no way to predict the plot twists Tiernan puts into her stories. And the fact that the entire thing is based upon the Wicca religion is brilliant. I love learning about it with Morgan as she goe

Video of me ranting about this book? It can be found HERE. Full, written review is further down below...
This is going to be a pretty damn short review, because I didn't have that much material to gripe/gush about with this book. I felt that it was more filler but still gave us more information regarding the over series plotline. This is a direct continuation from Dark Magick and after being betrayed by Cal, Morgan has to come to grips with the reality of the situation of exactly who More...

Suddenly I was crying, unable to hold it back anymore. "I hate this," I sobbed. "I hate it if having magick means I have to be part of this. I never asked for this. I'm tired and I hurt and I won't want to hurt anymore."
That's the premise for all of Morgan's torturing throughout this book. You go on such a roller coaster ride of emotions with her that you literally feel them all, as she's displaying them. Her first love, the love she thought was her soul mate, and More...

This series has a way of lingering after I put down each book, making me feel as though I'm living in it's world rather than my own, and that's a pleasant effect. I love this series. As you read each book, you grow more with the character. I can relate with the estrangement Morgan encounters when losing someone close to you, and the feelings are well interpreted in these books. Cate Tiernan is truly gifted. If your a fan of Lisa Jane Smith books you'll love this series!

Morgan has escaped an attempt on her life, but now she is confused about who to trust. And there is definitely some evil still happening around town. Is someone still after her or is it something else all together?
I can't help loving these little books. The magic is fun but there are some serious messages here too. Tiernan gets the messages across without beating them over your head. I think this is a great series for teens, I can't wait to see what happens next.

Read this in 3 hours at the bookstore yesterday. Fun. That was all i did. Read. Thats what most of what ive been doing for the past month has been. Im really only reading this for the story because sometimes it strikes me how rediculous all of this is... i know its not meant to be realistic but still books like this put such a different image out there for pagans. but like all bad movies that were once books i move past taht.

I still have issues with this series. I have a love/hate relationship going. lol Certain aspects are brilliant and engaging, then I turn the page and feel a bit let down. Hunter, though, keeps me coming back. I will indeed finish this series regardless.

Morgan is heartbroken when Cal tries to kill her and then disappears with his mother. Hunter has approched the Cirrus coven about taking over the leadership of that coven now that Cal has left. Morgan is also struggling with feelings for Hunter that she cannot explain. When Alyce and David at Practical Magick tell her that they may have to close the shop because the person holding their loan is telling them they have to pay it off at once. When all of a sudden the fortunes of the store change, H

I liked this whole series. This point of view of Wicca fascinated me. I absolutely love Hunter! This is a good series if you want a long series of suspense, exploration of Wicca, and some fluff-y type romance.

This 5th book is the best one of the sage until now! OK. I need to read the other ones. But here, we finally have more action and more of Hunter whom we know better there.
I am completely in love with Hunter and can't wait to read the other ones!

Was a tad disgusted when the main character's heart falls for another guy in the simplicity of a few chapters. However, overall Cate Tiernan never stops impressing me with her work.

This is a fun, fast pased series. I actually learned some about Wicca as a religion (taken loosely of course) instead of just the hocus pocus stuff that is usually what most of the books and movies tell about. The characters were fun and captivating. I was left wanting more and more.

This is an amazing series. Each book is under 200 pages and the story really keeps you interested.
I really enjoyed the character development as well as the storyline. One of the longest series that I have read to date.

5th book in the Sweep series has Morgan recovering from book 4. Could another friend be not what he seems? Decent addition to the series but not the best.

Very nice book. I like Hunter, and I think he fits way better together with Morgan. The ending is very sad with what happens to Morgan, but also very beautiful with the Morganite.

Wow! I thought after Dark Magic the books couldn't get any better but it obviously has. Awakening is filled with suspense and mystery and surprising twist, such a great book to read. Morgan's possible relationship with Hunter reminds me so strongly of Night World's Mary-Lynette and Ash. It is full of information about Wicca, and magic.
