This book reminded me of Origins in that while I enjoyed this book, it just didn't grab me like the others did. I don't know what it is exactly, but I just didn't enjoy this as much as I would a Morgan narrated story.

Alisa's still having problems with her father & step-mom to be Hillary- with the wedding & the baby on the way, neither of them seem to be paying any attention to her. When Alisa finally reaches her breaking point, she decides to run away to the family she never met: he More...

I think out of the side series in the wicca series this is perhaps my favorite one. The character has this huge sense of innocence about her that you can't help but be drawn to her. I loved the way that I felt I could really relate to her as I was reading through the novel because it meant that I was able to connect with the book and udnerstand it from a whole new perspective. What I liked about the book was this huge sense of reality to it. A teenage girl whose Fathers girlfriend is having a ba More...

Today's review is on Reckoning by Cate Tiernan

Reckoning is the 13th book in the Sweep series and surprisingly was a really good book. This installment focused on Alisa and her mothers family.

As the birth of Alisa's half-brother or half-sister draws nearer Alisa finds herself feeling more and more unnoticed in her own home. Things only get worse when she is asked to give up her bedroom for the baby and move to the "glorified closet" at the end of the hall.

This was my first read in the Sweep series; I was pleasantly surprised that despite being #13 in the series, I was easily able to pick up the story. In other words, it can stand on its own. Alisa has recently discovered that she is half-witch. She is accepted in her circle but her best friend is wary of this knowledge. Her dad's girlfriend is pregnant and getting ready to turn Alisa's room into a nursery. She runs away to a relative on her mom's side, hoping to get more information about the More...

Reckoning is the 13th book in the Sweep series. This one is told solely from Alisa's pov. She is still coming to terms with being a witch and runs off to Massachusetts to meet and get to know her late mother's family. There, she helps uncover the reason behind the strange hauntings at her grandmother's house.

I do enjoy getting to know some of the back story with some of the characters from this series and it's interesting seeing how Alisa works through what she learns. I hope a cert More...

Another great book by Cate Tiernan. A continuation of the Sweep series, this book concentrates on Alisa and her struggle to accept and adapt to the fact that she is a half-blood witch. After a fight with her dad and soon to be step-mom who is pregnant and young enough to be Alisa's sister, Alisa runs off to seek out her deceased mother's brother Sam. While there she discovers the secrets to her magic and finds acceptance and love from relatives she never knew she had.

The last two books have switched point of view from Morgan to a lesser character, Alisa Soto. A former member of Kithic who was terrified of Morgan's power. Now she has come into her own and rejoined Kithic. This is her coming of age when she runs to her mother's witch family for help. I never liked Alisa in previous books but she definitely grew on me. I enjoyed this story and think she will be featured again since her epic is hardly finished.

In this book Alisa runs away from home to meet her mother's family. Yep, they are all witches. At first it is a bit odd and some relatives are happier to see her than others. She also meets a charming young witch, unfortunately he is already dating her cousin. She may also find the source of her seemingly uncontrollable magic and help her family in the long run.

I really enjoyed this book. We find out more about Alisa and her family. The change of location was nice too. I only have tw More...

I used to love this series when I was in middle school and into Wicca. They're good books for younger teens, whether or not they are interested in Wicca; it's part of the plot, but not the biggest part.

For interested swappers: The condition of the pages is perfect; the outer covers are slightly worn and have library stickers on them: a YA and identification sticker on the spine, and barcode on the back.

This one, I think didn't have a plot, or at least I didn't get it. tee hee! I think Alisa and Charlie are muirn beatha dan! which means soul mate(s) I really think that but they just don't realize it..I mean they kissed! I kinda don't really like Brigid..she kind of sounds (don't know if I can say this but Alisa says it in the book)....bitchy, honestly.

These books aren't amazing, but they're good enough to keep me reading. I'm curious to see how all the threads get tied up at the end of the series. I like the brief interludes at the head of the chapters that are from the Book of Shadows or correspondence from other people - their identity is usually left a mystery until the end of the book (unless you figure it out first - a fun challenge.)

Probably one of my favorites - I loved seeing Alisa's story. Did it need to be in the series? Eh, could have been a stand alone, separate book. But I loved that this took you Salem and that we got a chance to see some of the other witch's side of things.

Missing? The car ride back home with Hunter. Hello, outtakes please??

Reckoning
A wonderful story which stands apart from the Morgan/Hunter main storyline, but one that ultimately leaves the reader wanting an extra chapter. After a dozen books concentrating on Morgan, the Sweep series gets a jolt of new energy in this story of Alissa, whose journey to Gloucester and discovery of her family heritage is exceptionally well told. The author has crafted a well-told tale, with great characters and a sly sense of humor. As the story reaches its conclusion, yet we do More...

very good even thought it wasn't about Morgan or Hunter. I am glad that Alisa finally met her mother side of the family. My heart was racing as I turned the pages as Alisa met with her family and found out about her pwoer. i am also glad that she made some-what up with her new stepmother. i still think it was shitting of Hilary to move Alisa out of her bedroom, so her pecious baby can had the room closer to her.

This story focuses almost exclusively on Alisa, which is a nice break from Morgan's story.
Alisa finds out more and more about her past in this book. She discovers her mothers Book of Shadows and finds a bunch of letters from her moms brother Sam. After a particularly rough run at things and discovering she has an uncle that she never knew before, she runs away from home to her uncle Sam's in Gloucester. Here she meets and gets to know her family and her families deep, hidden secrets. More...

This one was by far my favorite one. Alisa is a really great character, I just wish the later books talked about her more. I like how her family drama finally wraps up and she seems more at peace in the end of the book. It really has an ending, and a good one. Sometimes Morgan's drama is just a bit much for me! :)

By far my favorite of the Sweep series.

I started getting mad at Morgan around book eight, so I'm glad the books started shifting around to other characters perspectives. Reckoning in from the perspective of Alisa, who after a fight with her dad and step mom, goes off to find her birth mothers family.

I loved this book because I have always been intrigued by Alisa, so it was great to see her become more accepting of what was going on around her.

We have another book that isn't from Morgan's perspective. I wasn't too sure what to think of this one as the others weren't as good. I have feel bad for Alisa for the past few books, so by the end of this book I was happy for her. Alisa has had to deal with a lot lately, the secrets that she has found out has rocked her. Some of her decisions haven't been the best, but they are hers. I think that learning more about her mother and that side of her family will help settle things down for he More...

This was a really good series. It made me want to continue reading onto the next book in the series. The author of this book had a really nice writing style. It's one of those books that created an image in my head. This book is basically about a girl named Morgan who found that that she was a witch. There's danger and obstacles that she needs to conquer and overcome. Along the way, there were people that were her friends that became her foe. And in the end, there was a spell that could kill and More...
