A nice Christmas story, written in 1922, from an author who it appears wrote several books that, save for a few, have pretty much disappeared into obscurity.

The story follows a Jewish girl in Bethlehem around the time of the birth of Jesus. I will admit I became distracted when the girl went suddenly blind from an unnamed disease she caught from her pet lamb (possibly Rift Valley fever??)

The ending of the story was very sweet though, and this is a nice read for Christmas time, and this particula

Oh my jaded heart, left in puddles. The little Jewish girl who was so happy and a joy to all made blind. Such a pity that everyone had to blame everything that happened on sin, but hey people in 2013 do something similar I guess.
