Is it going to be as good as all the rest of them?

I think it will turn out better than all the other mountain man books so far.

So far i really like this book. It is one of my favorite mountain man books so far. Right now smoke and sally are getting ready to bid for a champion hereford bull. I think it will turn out good. Except for quenton trying to kill him. And mabye out bidding him because hes rich.

Smoke Jensen's friend and hand, Pearlie, is in jail for murder. He'd killed a man who was about to kill him with a shotgun. Self defense. The problem was the dead man was the son of the most powerful rancher in town and the fellow was bent on hanging him, after a "fair" trial of course.

Smoke had already had a run-in with the rancher aftr outbidding him on a champion bull. Cal, Sally, and he race to the town to mount a defense.

The rancher has hired a deadly killer to take care of Smoke.
