What I LOVED about this book:
1. The humor & antics
2. NO love triangles
3. No female angst
4. No drama to keep the 3 couples apart
5. The couples were able to get to know each other in real situations with out something messing it up
6. The couples didn't try to fight the attraction and/or push each other away
7. MOST IMPORTANTLY this book made me LAUGH and LAUGH and LAUGH and no crying whatsoever was involved

I couldn't put this book down, nor did I want to. Even when I tried to put it down for...more

If you are looking for a fun happy read look no further!

Grace, Meg and Bianca (all 24) have been best friends for 4 years after meeting at College. They even live together. They are all unique with different personality’s. . Their relationship was tight and you felt the love they have for each other, more like sisters than friends. They are also freakin hilarious! They were successful in their professional lives but not in their love life’s. After another tragic date the girls save Grace from t...more

this is what happens when 13 year olds are allowed to drink! It's a bit juvenille, well, it's infantile, but it's all in fun. THis is definitely a YA book. Very young.

It reminded me a little of Hanna Montana meets Sex and the City. If you like inuendo and blue balls, this might do it for you. lots of tension and near misses. Way too many perfect coincidences for my taste.

The first half was so painful for me. but I kept reading based on the reviews. The most redeeming part of this book is the bar...more

I absolutely LOVED this book. There was nothing not to love. One of the best books I've read so far!
Oh My God, How much I've laughed and laughed and laugh is something! I literally had a tummy ache and tears rolling down my face by the amount I laughed while reading this brilliant book!
I can thank Jenn M enough for recommending this book to me! Boy was is bloody brilliant!
What I loved about the book was there was no irritating drama! No weird love triangles between the 3girls and the 3guys! Love...more

I read this when it was still fanfiction and loved it, I remember wishing I could buy it so I could own the book. I was so disappointed when I went back to read it again one day and found she had removed it, so I kept an eye out for it being added again and was so excited when I saw that it was getting published. I got my copy in the post a few days ago and was so exited! Anyway, I've read the book again and can honestly say I think it's one of them books you just keep going back to read again a...more

4.5 BIG STARS!!!
I could not wipe off the goofy grin on my face while I read this. No big drama or emotional turmoil just fun, sassy dialog and witty, likable characters. Not the steamiest, but still very sexy and fresh.

Big thanks to the other Kellie (who not only writes great reviews, but also spells her name the cool way). Her fantastic review encouraged me to read this.

((I'm not tech savvy but if I was I would insert a cute gif of a dancing puppy or basket of kittens here))

3.5 STARS Only because I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time.

Grace, Meg and Bianca are three best friends and roommates. They are smart, funny, beautiful and in the middle of the bet so they cannot date. Than they meet three ideal guys. Michael, Ryan and Jack are also three best friends and they are intelligent, very sexy and totally adorable. Would be girls able to resist the guys in order to win expensive shoes?

Boycotts & Barflies is very funny and enjoyable story. It is great read...more

Fun and Snarky!

This novel had me by my strings! It was loads of laughs, humorous and downright awesome!

Let the games begin!

Grace,Meg,and Bianca, met in college and have known each other for four years and now are the best of friends, they're so close you could consider them sisters. I loved them to pieces! Their characters were snarky, full of enthusiasm and so much fun. The novel starts off with the girls going on lame dates and not finding the right man who aren't what the girls would call "D...more

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!

OMG this book is just a breath of fresh air! It is shoulder shaking, laugh out loud fun and it's sexy.

Yes it's pretty unbelievably lucky that all three friends manage to hook up with three also best friends but the circumstances and the boycott just make this bloody hilarious without losing any of the romance and smouldering sexiness too. This would make an absolutely great film. Each person within this book just comes alive off the pages, Jack and his amazing abi...more

I don't know how I missed writing a review for this. Well, I think I do...I was at work when I finished it and I probably ran out of time during the day and then didn't remember when I got home. Anywho....

I originally read this several years ago in another form. LOVED it then! So, when I saw that I could get it in printed form, I was all kinds of happy. Reading through it this time made me just as giggly and swoony as the first time. I'd like a Michael Andris for myself. Usually I go for the alp...more

Wow, this book is really amazing. It's funny, entertaining and most definitely "exquisite".
Victoria Michaels, you are a very talented writer...

The book as a whole was good but if you pick it apart, you will find some things that don't work. But its funny and everything you want in a book that will distract you for a few hours. It was light read that's ad me up until 1:11 in the morning. For those reason alone it deserves its five star rating. I'm sorry if you hated the book but try not picking it apart and going with the humor in it, and trust me you will enjoy it. Not all books need to picked apart and I love books that can make you l...more

The writing and plot were absolutely dreadful. I felt as if I was reading a junior high schooler's novel and there was no bond between the story and author. It seemed as if she just threw up her thoughts on paper and didn't put time and care into making it presentable. The plot was ridiculously impossible, and I literally laughed at the absurdity of how perfect everything seemed to work out. No wonder this book is fiction; it could literally never happen in reality. Not even close. With that all...more

What can I say about Boycotts & Barflies? You all might know how I’m pretty obsessed with Victoria Michaels and both her books; but this one I could not stop reading even AFTER I finished it. Yep that’s right…I would not be able to go to sleep without reading one of my favorite scenes and then by the time I knew it, I was already halfway through the whole thing! No book has made me do that, keep me up late because I couldn’t stop thinking about it and making me hang out with the gang again....more

I really enjoyed the book at the beginning. It got me grinning and laughing like an idiot at times. It had humor, cheesiness, enough romance and a good plot to make it a entertaining book. However, the more I read it, the more I questioned my opinions of the book.
Let's talk about the storyline. There were too many coincidences in the way they all met. I mean the chance of you and your two best girlfriends meet and fall in love with three gorgeous and absolutely flawless guys who also happen t...more

Boycotts & Barflies is a contemporary romance/comedy romance written by Victoria Michaels.

I was really impressed with this book. It was fun and witty. The writing was well done and the characters were all very likable. The friendships between Grace, Bianca and Meg were a terrific read. I laughed so many times at their shenanigans! The friendly pranks they played on one another and the healthy camaraderie was a delight! I also really liked the friendship between Michael, Ryan and Jack. They...more

Do people give this book 5 stars because they don't want to hurt someone's feelings? Either that, or all of the readers are 14 and this is the life they dream about. The entire premise is based on which girl can avoid a date/sex with some guy they met less than a month ago. No...really. That's the big bet. The prize is a pair of shoes. A nice pair of shoes, but shoes nonetheless. Really? The down times (between all the sexual angst and frat boy hijinks) are spent sharing intimate details (usuall...more

This was really bad. Really, really bad. With the high rating, I thought it might be a cute book I could flip through easily. Wrong.

First off, this is badly written. I kept thinking this must have been some kind of fanfic that got published because somebody was being nice the day this landed on their desk. Everything was just so sappy and unrealistic.

Did the characters even have any faults? Every person is described as perfect: chiseled abs, amazing body, the opposite sex constantly hitting on...more

"Keep your penis covered, Michael. Do we understand each other?"

Grace warned before she slowly removed her hand from her face.

"I promise. As long as you keep your breasts covered, we should be fine."

3.5 STARS

I was hopelessly in love with this story! I'm just hoping that guys like Michael still exists in the world and doesn't have his head around sex always when it comes to a relationship.

Totally unlike me. but I took 4 days to read this book.

Anyways ....

It wasn't a complete bore, but it wasn't the most heart stopping either. With little to no drama it mostly made me laugh.

I'm not too sure where the climax of this book was, and so my emotions on a hold were either funny or flat.

I honestly believe that all of them failed the boycott before the end came, because as far as I can see, they were all dating, which was the number one rule of the boycott anyway.

Personally, I hate third p...more

3.8 Stars. This is a feel good love story about 3 girls, 3 guys, and a very nice pair of shoes.

WARNING: THIS BOOK WILL CAUSE LAUGH LINES. I cracked up throughout this entire novel. Boycotts and Barflies is Chick Lit at its best. If you want a feel-good, laugh out loud romantic comedy then this is your pick hands down.

I've barely given one star to a book.
But I just can't help for this one.

The reason why I started reading this book is because, you know in Goodreads there is a section 'People who like this book also like...' (the column on the right side. See that? Nah.) When I finished Wallbanger and had written the review, I peeked at the right column, saw this book, clicked the title and WHOAAA..!! Its rating is four point something. This must be good!

The first pages were really okay. Funny and hilarious....more

I know, like, 50 Koreans and 3 of them are named Grace Park. Seriously. So when I read the summary of this book, I got super excited. An Asian-American lead! In a book that has nothing to do with Kim Jong-Il, the Korean War, or karate! Well, you know what they say about people who assume.

No, no, there's no mention of the Dear Leader, the war, or ninjas -- but there's no mention of any Asians either. Grace Park could easily be Grace Smith and the author wouldn't have to change anything in the sto...more

4.5! Loved everything about this book, save the HEA bedroom scene which was anticlimactic given that the entire damned book led up to this moment. This act. This love. It was, just, PG-ish and left me bereft. It was like the author just couldn't bring themselves to make it realistic. It was meh.

It's a shame because otherwise it was one of the more refreshing reads, despite the premise which doesn't pass the reality test and yet I adored. Every. Minute. Every. Single. Character. Every. Hysterical...more

Boycotts and Barflies follows the relationships between three best friends as they make a bet to refrain from dating and sex. The girls end up meeting three men who put their willpower to win the bet to the test. I had a really hard time getting into the overly perfect set up with the characters. Each friend magically happens to have a run in with one of the men and they develop crushes. Even if I could get behind the unlikelihood of their meetings, it's the intense feelings each couple has so q...more

I was lucky enough to receive this book as part of a first-reads contest and thought it was really kind that the author signed it. I wanted to love this book, especially after reading the description. I'm a HUGE chick-lit fan and enjoy 95% of the books I do read.

However, while reading Boycotts & Barflies, I felt like I was a reading a slightly-less smutty romance novel, not chick-lit. The whole thing was just so cheesy...I was waiting for the phrase sheath to be used. About a third of the w...more

When i first decided to read this, i was unsure of how I would respond to it. I love a good love story. This book did NOT let me down. I loved the characters of Grace, Michael and Bianca. I think the characters of Ryan and Jack weren't given enough time. They didnt grow on me. I liked them but they just didn't do it. Meg, well she was a little too miserable and that clashed with her being peppy. Sometimes i liked her though. Not enough. The bets were awesome. Michael finding loopholes was freak...more

I absolutely love this book. One of the reasons for that is that I read it long before it was published. Another reason is that it's just fantastic. It might seem a bit contrived, but I found the story fun, the characters spicy, and the romance hot! While I was sad that a couple things didn't make the cut into the novel, Victoria Michaels (or, as I know her, VJGM) clearly took an editor's eye to the work to polish it for the final printing. You might not think three female best friends and roomm...more
