Although the story of Jonah could be fascinating, this novel did not bring it to life as I would have hoped. More showing and less telling would have improved the book a great deal. I wanted to go inside Jonah's heart and mind to understand how he felt as the various events of his life transpired, but all we got was the facts with an occasional passage of info dump to connect them together.
