The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus #1)
by
Rick Riordan
Jason has a problem. He doesn’t remember anything before waking up in a bus full of kids on a field trip. Apparently he has a girlfriend named Piper and a best friend named Leo. They’re all students at a boarding school for “bad kids.” What did Jason do to end up here? And where is here, exactly?

Probably SPOILER ALERT, but nothing you couldn't have figured out in the first few pages.
According to Goodreads, 97% of people liked it. But the 3% will rise!
Prepare yourself for the first yet negative review of this book.
I was so excited for this book to come out. But then I read it, and was very disappointed. Just to clarify, I LOVED the original Percy Jackson series. They were amazing. This, however, was not.

Tears literally came to my eyes when I finished this book. I just loved it so much I wanted to cry. Riordan dives right into the story. There were a lot of questions of who everyone's parents were so Piper's godly parent surprised me but it I thought it was pretty cool. Jason's turned out to be what I expected but with a spin. And Leo's was pretty predictable but there is something very unique about him....

I will come up with an epic review for this soon. But now I need to do the homework I neglected while I was reading it …teehee!!!
- I find it amusing that this is my 2nd most popular review ... and that I haven't even reviewed it yet. (Oops, I read it almost half a year ago, so I should probably get on that. *headsmack*)
... *AN ETERNITY LATER* ...
Well, I was sad that I had nothing to review, but then I remembered that I never reviewed this and had been meaning to do so for ages. I should be readi...more

Oh my godsh. The title's finally been announced. I am now counting down the days, like Mockingjay- 179 days (as of 4/15/10).
Godsh (Oh, have I not explained "godsh?" It's a mix between gods and gosh. I use it in times when I talk about CHB. XD), I am so freaking excited. I think this is going to be about the new prophecy, and I think that Percy and Annabeth will die, die die die.
Just kidding. They're gonna grow up together and make lil half-blood babies- Wait, wrong people. Forget I ever said th...more

Has anybody thought of the fact that Percy has an empathy link with Grover? So Grover could, in theory, contact Percy when the latter's still an amnesiac. I wonder if Riordan's thought of this...

Medusa, hydras, cyclops, Hercules, winged shoes, magical trickery--what's not to love about Greek myths? Being a mythology geek, I was naturally drawn to the 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' series that focused on the modern demi-god children of the Olympian gods. While interesting conceptually and done well, it wasn't particularly remarkable storytelling. Riordan's new series, however, looks to surpass the old, seizing the golden apple. It's classic coming-of-age disguised as adventure novel,...more

First off let me start by saying that reading the dedication part of this book made me
Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.
New prophecy. New characters. New adventure. Same, EPIC world!!!
Meet our new demigods; Jason, Piper and Leo.
Jason is the mystery in this trio, see he doesn't remember anything, not even who he is. A God has stolen his memories.
Piper has a secret, a terrible one that will only cause pain and suffering, but what other choice does she have?
Leo,...more

I've read a little of this book, on previews and at Barnes and Noble, and I must say I'm rather disappointed. Is it just me, or is it when authors start a new series after an extremely successful one it sucks? Maybe I set my hopes to high, but it's such a letdown to be expecting a well woven story and getting a, 'And then they did this, then they went and did this, but this happened.'. Maybe Riordan was on when he was writing but it was rather weird. I had expected Riordan to really blow us away...more
Last weekend I drew a 12yr old girl named Ashley(I'm a caricature/portrait artist, for those who don't know). When you have a person in your chair, and they are staring back at you, you feel obligated to have a conversation. Over time you just get bored asking the same question over and over......and over. "what grade are you in?" "What do you do up there in Detroit?" "Is this your first visit to unnamed water park?" ect.
One thing I like to ask kids is "What is your favorite subject?" Nine times...more

Fantastic!
I'm expected a lot in this book, 'cause now Percy Jackson won't be the main character anymore. I thought three new demigods will like the " copycat" of Annabeth, Grover, and Percy. But they have totally new character. This book is a lot more humor than Percy Jackson series.
In this book, it continued the prophecy of " The Last Olympian". Oh , I read and I gasped, then read again. Rick Riordan's writing is better than. The one who told the story are the three new demigods, Jason, Piper,...more

OMG!!!!! I cant wait for this book to come out! It is going to be awesome!!! I heard that Percy isn't going to be the main character though. :'( He's still in the book, so that's still fantastic.
I think the main character is either going to be some one really new or Nico.....

Eek! I didn't realize Rick Riordan was writing another Camp Half-Blood series until my friend posted a link to the preview of this book. Wow! Sounds a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!!
It's Camp Half-Blood once again, and it's got Percy Jackson in it! (Okay, well, just the last to words of Chapter two that I know of.) Now it's got a boy named Jason who seems - excuse me sounding like a boy-crazy girl - totally hot (and, if I use my usual vocabulary, interesting).

So I finished this book in 8 hours of solid reading. Yes, even 400-something pages of Greek mythology take that long.
And the first thing which I should mention is that this book, and some others which have come before it and all those which will follow, have nothing going for them except for plot. Absolutely nothing. (Well, unless you count occasional hilarious one-liners on the side. I guess I should.)
Of course, we can't discuss this book without discussing the original Percy Jackson and the...more

"Seven Half-Bloods shall answer the call.
To storm or fire, the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath.
And foes bear arms to the doors of death."
Percy Jackson’s nerve-racking adventures ended with this cheery prophecy. The resourceful demigod had just fought The Second Olympian War and emerged victorious. When his friend and now, new oracle, Rachel Dare made the aforementioned divination, Percy hoped that it wasn’t something that he would have to deal with in this lifetime. His...more

*REVIEW FOR LOST HERO*
After getting lost in a whole paranormal faze of reading, I needed something light, humorous, but still serious/adventure kind of book. It so happens that just a few days ago, The Lost Hero came out, adding another series to the Camp Half Blood stories, including the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Some might complain that some books need to end- for this particular book, I thought that too, until I actually read it. Now I'm thinking that Rick Riordan was right to c...more

AAAAHHHHHH!! I HATED THIS BOOK!!!! Well no. Don't get me wrong. i Loved it but i was glaring at it the whole time i read it. I loved all the references to the Percy Jackson books and i LOVE how Riordan didn't completely drop that in the new series. Let me just say that all the new information about mythology is a bit overwhelming. I mean, it wasn't confusing but it was a lot! (553 pages of it!!) Like the Red Pyramid, the first book of The Kane Chronicles, this book has a potential to be amazing like the Percy Jackson series. I really hope it is good!! I read the first two chapters and now I seriously can't wait!! Two books by Rick Riordan in ONE year?! Talk about awesome! :)

The title of this book I like. The cover is good too.
But moving on, Riordan is definitely getting better at the cliffhangers. Gosh I don't know if I like it or not. Wait a minute, I do know-I don't like it. I don't enjoy having to wait but now that The Son of Neptune is out I don't feel as bad as I would've.
Jason is quite a strange character since he already knows all these things about monsters and gods (by there Roman names) but somehow he doesn't know his last name. Than we have Piper and L...more

That’s it! I’m tired of all this playing with my emotions. No more series…unless it’s totally awesome. UHHGR!!! As you might be able to tell I’m a little upset about how this ended. How can authors just leave you hanging like that!?!

I loved this book and hated the wait for the second one!
Jason was an amazing character and I really got to feel him and see from his point of view ((Not because it switched between point of views.))
Piper was SUPER awesome with her being her, of course.
Leo was the funniest character in the book! I loved that he took out breath mints instead of a weapon! LoL!

So. I want to start by saying I was a HUGE fan of the Percy Jackson series (duh) and also that I was a little wary about buying this book. I mean, it's not about PERCY anymore. And although I ended up enjoying it immensly, I was right to be wary.
The third-person narrative wasn't nearly as fascinating as Percy's first-person speech. Moreover, out of the three narrators, I only found Leo interesting. Piper was irritating and Jason was just bland. With the exception of Leo, there was not NEARLY as...more
