After a week of so-so…and some truly disappointing reads, am thoroughly glad to say ‘Percy Jackson and The Battle of The Labyrinth’ lived up to my expectations and was a truly fine read!
Half-boy, half-God Percy Jackson starts off another school year by fighting off a pair of ‘Empousai’ and blowing up the school…again. He also runs into Rachel Elizabeth Dare, the mysterious mortal girl who can see through the mist.
It’s time to head back to camp Half-Blood, because trouble More...

Why did I wait so long to read these? I have no good explanation and if you ask me I'll just give you the shifty eyes and mumble something incoherent because I don't have a good reason. What counts though is that I am reading them now right? On the upside I don't have to agonize for the long wait for new books to come out, but still... if I had just known!
So as expected Percy's summer is going to be filled with another quest and yet another colossal problem that brings him closer to More...

Already I can't wait to start reading The Last Olympian, just have to wait for nine other people to read it first at the library. That's no time at all right? I'm trying to reassure myself.
This is my favorite of the series so far. It was slightly less funny in this ones but its totally made up for by all the action and gods and characters. I mean gosh, there are a lot more gods, monsters, and heroes than I gave mythology credit for.

I can't tell whether this is my favorite of the existing Percy Jackson stories. After a while, it has become just a story that I must read because it's in the series and there is no way that I can stop now! But it is definitely highly entertaining and I especially appreciate the fact that Riordan manages to make the young characters grow up convincingly as modern teens. I have a fascination with mazes and labyrinths so anything with this setting tends to make me happy, although I did not quit

I could not wait for the 91 people who are ahead of me in the queue at the library. I bought this book, and I am going to buy the others in the series as well. I think I'll want to reread these stories.
I really powered through the last couple books in this series. This time around, I wanted to slow down a bit. So, I alternated between this book and a collection of Greek mythology. I was happy I did because in The Battle of the Labyrinth Percy, Annabeth, Tyson, and Grover have More...

The Battle of the Labyrinth was a huge disappointment to me. It did not get good until halfway through. The first half of the book was action-packed like the first three books of the series, but the action was, for lack of a better term, dumb. At the start of the series, Percy Jackson was twelve. Throughout The Battle of the Labyrinth, he was fourteen. The book was written as if there was no mental development or personal growth during those two years. Percy behaves as if he had learned no

I really loved this fourth installment in the Percy Jackson series! It was interesting and informative (something I always appreciate from Riordan - not only the mythology research he must have done, but current research about the country and landmarks).
I definitely felt like Percy was growing up in this book and felt the flavor of the book matched that - a little more detailed and a little less clear on those 'black-and-white' lines. Things are still building for the "finale" More...

. . . that I can enjoy a book series as much as Harry Potter!
I really love Percy Jackson and the Olympians, probably even more than the kids. As I have said before, they are even better read-a-louds, to my elementary age children, than the Potter series. The dialogue is rich (work on your many voices) and just about any page is a great stopping point because there are so many cliff hanging action moments. Nothing is ever slow in this series.

If you've read my reviews of the other books in this series then you know of my disappointment with it. I suppose if you could hear me I'd open my review of this addition to the series this way....
sigh.
In one of the reviews I read of one of the volumes in this series by someone who gave it 5 stars the reviewer opened by observing that they knew little about Greek myth...but like the story.
Okay, I'll try to take "that attitude". Allow me though first More...

*Just finished re-reading it! I love these books. :] So much. And the last two especially are wicked intense. Hehe.
*original review: AMAZING!!! I LOVED IT!!! I'm always glad to see a series that can keep itself going without the author running out of ideas. Like the three books that come before it, The Battle of the Labyrinth is exciting, funny, and overall very enjoyable. I also love its strong characters. Fans of the series will NOT be disappointed :D

The book "The Battle of the Labyrinth" is a true-to-heart keeper. The book is action-packed non-stopping from finish to end, the first few pages containg demon cheerleaders, and the last part of the book fighting a battle with the evil god Kronos.
The series (there are 4 books in total) is about a boy named Percy who is a trouble-finder, because he does not like to start trouble but always finds away to get himself into it, that is told by his mother he is a Demigod, More...

we have enjoyed reading 1, 2, and 3, so this should be just as good. The action started from word one. We love reading the titles of the chapters just as a fun way to see if we can even guess the adventure.

So this is not just a review of the Battle of the Labyrinth but a review of the series overall so far.
In general, I don't like how these books are written so casually... and first person in general feels "cheat-y" .. but then it's also good for giving us observations without giving things away.. if only percy weren't so dense at times. hahah.
but I like how everything is so carefully knit together; kind of like an easier version of a detective novel, where the mo More...

The fourth and so far the best book in the series, Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth is definitely up to the brim with surprises.
It starts with fourteen-soon-to-be-dreaded-sixteen Percy being taken by his mom to the orientation of his new school. Little does he know that soon he will be attacked by a couple of cheerleaders, and not because they think he's handsome. Meanwhile his best friend Annabeth is keeping an eye on Percy's arch enemy Luke and his ever growing evil ar More...

Although there were a few interesting character additions in this book, I continue to feel that the series suffers from poor character development. I can live with the plot holes and narrative shortcomings, but the weak character development really hurts these books. In the Harry Potter series, when a major character died, it was a big deal because of the emotional attachment the reader has formed with the character. An even better example is the moment when Gandalf appears to die at the hand

In this book, things heat up for everyone. Annabeth's internal conflict about Luke and Percy become more salient. Luke's transition into a dark person is complete . . . or is it? And campers at camp-halfblood really have to fight for their camp and their life. Annabeth gets to lead the Quest this time. The story has a lot of twists and turns.
There is one issue that bothers me about the books. I feel like Percy is not aging. His dialogue continues to feel 12-years-old to me at time More...

The New York Times Bestselling series continues in this fourth installment. As the Titan Lord Kronos’ army grows stronger, Percy Jackson and friends must travel in to the sinister Labyrinth to find Daedalus, who may be their last chance to stop the forces of evil. Along the way, they will face terrifying empousae, the monster Kampe, the Hundred-Handed Briares, and a giant hellhound names Mrs. O’Leary.

Percy does it again...the monsters follow him to his new school and it goes up if flames! But, this time, it is the new school where Mr. Blofis, his mom's new boyfriend is a teacher. He 'escapes' to Camp Half-Blood and Percy and his friends realize that evil Lord Kronos is at is again, marshalling his forces to overtake the world. A new quest is about to begin for Annabeth, Grover, Tyson and Percy. This time, however, Annabeth lead the quest through the labyrinth to thwart the attempt by Kronos.

Since my youngest loves this series, I've been reading the books as she finishes them, as much to have grist for discussion as for the pleasure of a good story. This series has a strong appeal for tweens in our neighborhood. Like the Harry Potter and other similar series it employs a protagonist starting in pre-adolescence and into adolescence who has difficulties in life and finds he is not a 'normal' person, but imbued with special powers and talents. To maximize enjoyment and understanding

I definitely liked this, but it was also definitely my least favorite book in the series. I'm not exactly disappointed or anything, though. Things that needed to happen happened, I'm just not much interested in battles, you know? The other books were more fun. I'm not sure that's even a fault; the tone of this installment is darker, and the reader's experience echoes that of the characters; they're in a dark labyrinth that goes on forever and they don't really know what they're doing. I felt tha

Have you ever wondered what the life of a half-god would be? You would not want to have the life of Percy Jackson because he does not spend his summer in a good way. In the fourth book in the Percy Jackson series the fate of Camp half-blood lies in the hands of Percy and his half-god friends to save it from being destroyed.
On the day Percy had his high school orientation he got attacked by demons and returns to Camp Half-Blood and finds out that the camp is not safe anymore. The evil Tit More...

This series continues to get better with each book as the world grows and the characters develop.
In the Battle of the Labyrinth, Percy and Annabeth continue to search for and fight the rising power of Kronos and Luke who are continuing to threaten the camp and the Gods. An entrance to a great labyrinth is found inside the borders of the camp and Annabeth leads the quest to enter it to search for their enemies.
Nico makes a comeback and we learn a little more about his for More...

The fourth book was full again of suspense and tons of climax!
I was really amazed with the labyrinth! All those monsters hunting them down as they continue their quest to find Daedalus. I also love the touch of humor that the author splatter in the novel, summoning the dead by a happy meal, the camp head drinking diet coke... haha!
It was Grover's perseverance that made me wow. His perseverance to find the Pan! Again its conclusion made another big explosion in this novel More...

I really wish I could love these books as much as everyone else does but I'm just not... getting it. I really enjoyed the first book but after that they just became a bit dull and repetitive. This might be a weird complaint to make a about a book but there is just so many names. You look down at the page and it feels like 90% of the words are just names. Lots and lots of characters and I find I can't really connect with any of them. The story is interesting enough and I do love the concept; I ju

Another amazing (pun intendend) quest for Percy Jackson and his friends.
Intellegently constructed, the forth book in the Olympus series tackles the myth of Daedalus's workshop and the Labyrinth. Percy, Annebeth, Tyson, and Grover are on a desperate search for Daedalus to convince him not to help Luke use the Labyrinth to find a way into Camp Half Blood to start the war on Olympus.

I had a dream that I got bored and picked this book up from nowhere and just started reading it! But I'm not going to give a speech about it like Martian Luther King Jr. and become famous!
