E. Foxton is the pseudonym of the Unitarian poet Sarah Hammond Palfrey. These devotional poems were written at a time when many Unitarian poets, including Walt Whitman, were consciously writing new liturgical poetry. As such, Unitarian Universalists and Unitarians may be interested in Palfrey's work, both as a matter of historical record and, if christian Unitarian Universalists, as devotional texts. The poems are both intensely personal and seriously theological work.
