Meeeeh. I misunderstood and thought it might be a YA book. (For a change.)

It was really childish, although Drake did her best to move to the Harry Potter 'groove.' (Can you tell that I didn't like that it was compared to the Harry Potter series on the cover?) The idea of the summer camp was cute and all, but crystals and different planes, etc. lost me a little bit. By the end I was just forcing my way through it. Again, maybe for a certain age group... And if you classify it as YA, it would have...more

I really wanted to like this, but I couldn't even finish it. I started reading it expecting magic and instead read 300-something pages about a kid going to summer camp. Maybe it got better after that, but I could not stay interested enough to find out.

Just pure entertainment - kids learning they have magic in them - some adults trying to teach them - evil ones with magic trying to kill them - fun types of magic and situations come into play - very easy to get sucked into the book where that is all you are thinking about -
