Is there anything sweeter than first love?

Don't ask Claire Keyes. The twenty-eight-year-old piano prodigy has never had a regular boyfriend, much less a real romance. Her music career has left little room for friends or family—which is just part of the reason she hasn't seen the family bakery or her two sisters in years.

But now Nicole is sick, and Jesse is AWOL.

Getting a sneak peek at the first book in a new series by one of my favorite authors is enough to make me do the happy dance (TMI?). I’ve been a big Susan Mallery fan since the first time I picked up one of her books. She seems to have the knack of making the unbelievable, believable. Her stories are sweet, smart, and sexy…and her latest “Sweet Talk” is certainly no exception.

For the first third of this book, I absolutely despised the heroin

Susan Mallery is usually a safe read for me as her books are usually pretty light and enjoyable. This one, I had so many issues with. While I liked Claire mostly, I found her to be a doormat. She will do put up with anything in order to gain the approval of her sisters, whom she hasn't seen much of over the years since childhood. Claire left home at the age of 6 as a piano playing prodigy. Claire's mother and grandmother traveled with her at times and when Claire went home, it was very apparent ...more

I was really disappointed with this book. Not only the author has put me under her spell with a previous series-first I've read by her, Delicious, but also the plot had so much more promise.

It tells the story of the clueless pianist Claire and the single father Wyatt.

I'm gonna be harsh about this book and the characters. Claire is a pianist, she's very very talented and is taken away from her home when she's like 6 years old to get her music lessons and is plunged into the world of orchestra. In

I wanted to like this book more. It had so much potential but the female characters in this book really made me angry. It was hard to connect with them. Claire was a complete doormat and after a while I wanted her to stand up for her self. Nicole was a mean girl and I hated her in the beginning but surprisingly even I started to warm up to her after a while. Jesse was so dense and after a while I gave up on her. While all of the family drama was going on, I couldn't find myself liking the idea o ...more

I quite liked this book, I don't normally read much contemporary romance, but I thought this was sweet and funny. What stopped me giving it more then 3 stars was that I found Jesse the younger sister extremely annoying and selfish I don't understand why she just didn't out right say what her problem was! I didn't mind so much Nicole, mainly because I found her sarcasm funny. Wyatt was a weak hero though, he was nice, but I didn't really feel the chemistry between him and Claire. This is the first in a series about the 3 Keyes sisters. Claire is the "middle" child, but only because she is the younger twin to her sister Nicole. Claire left home at 6 to become a famous pianist. Her sisters have never forgiven her for leaving and taking their mother with her. Although they are biologically related, they barely know each other. When younger sister Jesse calls and tells Claire that Nicole is having surgery and needs her, Claire returns home looking for the family she has alwa ...more

I just have to say that Susan Mallery is a really fun Author to read. This is another one of hers that I just found and turned out that I really liked. She has unconventional characters that interact in a way that will have you rolling.

Mallery captures the feelings of a family that is torn apart by their different paths in life and their misunderstandings of each orhers lives. Her characters come together in love, hate, envy, lust, disapointment and greed. She paints a picture in all of her boo

I'm so glad I decided to give a chance to Susan Mallery! I read her sheikh series this summer and I remember I've been bored with all those sheiks... so I was not sure about this author.

Instead this book was good, even a bit of fairy tales, with this 28-years old sister, still virgin and very naive about fact of life. But I enjoyed the story so much!

Another sweet story!

:)

Felt like if I wasn't delevoping such a huge dislike for Nicole, the sister, I could have liked this book more. Plus, I wished there was more of the h/h than there was, because I really liked them both.

I will say that I bought the bundle that is offered to get all three books. It's a great price for great books. There are three Keyes sisters, Claire, Nicole and Jesse. This one was Claire's story. She is a concert pianist who has been away from home since she was six. Her sister hates her for reasons beyond her control. But when she gets the call that her sister needs help she drops every thing to come home to help. She gets hit with severe hostility and her presence isn't wanted there by eithe ...more

This was a cute, lighthearted contemporary romance novel. I truly enjoyed this book and could not put it down. As a straight chick-lit novel I didn't have anything I would change about this book and it greatly exceeded my expectations. The story is easily set up as a trilogy with three Keyes sisters, this first one is about Claire, a very successful concert pianist who has recently experienced panic attacks. Her most recent one happens when she is performing and she decides to take a break from ...more

I actually read the second and third book in this series awhile ago, and for some reason this one was always checked out of the library. But I finally nabbed it!

It was a great intro to the series, I had to stop and try to remember all the characters, but Mallery introduced everyone nicely and I fell right back into the plot. Claire in this book was a little annoying. Have you ever known that person that was so selfless and perfect that it made you want to cringe? Well... Claire was that characte

I've been on hurricane evacuation for 3 weeks, home again for two, and read a bunch of books in the intervening time. I'm not sure I'm back on track to review again--but here goes.

The heroine was a child-prodigy pianist. She went out on tour at a shockingly early age and essentially hasn't been home since. And the sisters left behind resented it. Especially the heroine's twin. Now her twin sister is sick, and she has the chance to finally come home and re-connect. Except her twin's resentment ha

I really liked Claire in this book. I felt so bad for her whenever she turned around and someone else was accusing her of being an ice princess, or selfish, etc. I was glad when she finally started sticking up for herself and putting people in their places!

I'm not sure how I feel about Nicole. I'll read her book, but she did not cast herself in a flattering light. She seemed determined to play the victim, and blame everyone else for her problems. While other people were not innocent in her troub

I had heard that I should read a Susan Mallery book - so I did. I'm not too sure I want to try another any time soon, and will not finish this trilogy. WOW, two angry, b***** (am I allowed to say the "B" word?) sisters and a namby, pamby one who doesn't want to hurt any feelings so won't stand up for herself - people I just would NOT want to know. Claire was a child prodigy and was taken from home very young to play piano - she has become world famous and has returned home to care for one of her ...more

Having read the Buchanan series, I'm making another trip into Mallery's family sagas. Again, I have to say three cheers for flawed characters. Fun and light with just enough malevolence to keep it interesting. Claire was almost too helpless and stupid to be anywhere near likable.

The one I can't wait for is Jesse's story. The most flawed characters often have the best redemptions.

Had I liked Claire any more than I did, this would have been a four star read. As it is, 3.5 stars.

Even though I'm a Susan Mallery fan, other reviews of this book made me think I wouldn't like this one. Still, I gave it a go and I have to say... Some people are being far too harsh about this book. Was Nicole a bit of a bitch? Yeah. Was Claire incredibly naive at first? Definitely. Does Jesse need to learn to take responsibility for her own actions? Hell yeah.

The things is... All three sisters have really good and believable reasons for behaving the way they do. None of them—Save for Jesse, sh

Another fluffy easy read by Susan Mallery. I love the way she writes about not just a romance, she gives us a family and makes us care about all the people in it, makes us invested in the family's ups and downs.

This was Claire's story. And I LOVED Claire! She was so innocent and full of life and it bubbled over into all that she did.

I can't tell you how glad I am that Wyatt got his head on straight and didn't let Claire get away :)

Recommends it for: all fans of romance
This was a wonderful book. However I was a bit irked with the ending. Mostly because I want more groveling than was done and I had a few issues with some of the characters. But overall it was a wonderful read and I look forward to reading more from this author and within this series.

It's your better than average romance....the characters are developed and the storyline is interesting. This is my second Mallery book and I've noticed she has a great way of portraying children characters.
Take this one to the beach.
