Wednesday has been with Vincent, her dominant and former teacher, for eight years. His detached ownership of her feels more like understanding than love, but she has thrilled under his hands all the same. When Vincent decides it's time to end their formalized relationship, Wednesday is lost.

But another man watches from afar, determined to make her his own. This man, Daniel...more

This was a frustrating read for me. On the one hand, you've got moments like this:
But just before she came, the man fucking stopped.

She actually sobbed then. “Daniel, no! Please! Please don’t do this to me. You’ll kill me.”

“Kill you? ‘Here lies Wednesday, total drama queen.’ I’ll visit every week and leave butt plugs on your grave.”
Just about the only thing rarer than a negative pregnancy test in romance is humor and playfulness in BDSM scenes, and I loved that this book went there. It was a un...more

I skimmed the description of this one several times before I read it. For some reason, it really didn't appeal to me. And then when I read over the first chapter, it confirmed everything that I thought I wouldn't like: I really wasn't happy with what Vincent had done to her.

But then... Wow. She became an actual person. With a job and an apartment and feelings and everything.

Wednesday was really an intriguing character. I didn't realize how young she actually was and what that meant about the len...more

Well. This one was so easy to read, I read it in a day flat. And that's with eating and sleeping and ... other things, too. Well-written, with more of Joseph's signature three-dimensional characters and wonderfully believeable dialogue. I love it.

This particular title focusses a lot on the emotional aspects of an intensely loving and committed, monogamous D/s dynamic. As this is exactly the relationship I am in, I loved it, but it's not for those more ... hardcore inclined readers. It does have...more

What to say about Owning Wednesday. Honestly, hands down one of the best books I have read in a really long time. Her understanding and relaying the workings of a power exchange dynamic was refreshing. Yes there was sex but that is not typically the basis for power exchange. There were several little things that added to this story that if you remotely understand the concept then you fall in love with the meaning. Rituals, protocols, even play on occassion. Vincent is easy to hate but honestly p...more

Ms Joseph writes BDSM novels and novellas--power exchange in the best sense of the word--that are safe, sane, and consensual. Wednesday is a woman who needs the 24/7 Dom/sub relationship to give her life and her world the kinds of boundaries that her past has stolen from her. Vincent, her master, is a man who is really in love with her, but is so emotionally distant that he knows he needs to set her free. He and Daniel have an "arrangement" that Wednesday doesn't know about and one that could ru...more

Owning Wednesday by Annabel Joseph was one gut wrenching emotional read. One I loved from page one to the end. The dynamics of BDSM and D/s are not easily explained or understood. Yet as the pages turned and I was able to see all three characters and the deep insight to the very core of them insight dawned into a beautiful thing.

Vincent comes off as an overbearing and almost abusive Master. I almost worried that he was too much for Wednesday and that she needed to get out. I was wrong but wouldn...more

Owning Wednesday was a great read. I also appreciated that it was about a couple relationship instead of the usual bdsm multiplayer orgy. An intense relationship at that. The characters were so tightly engaged, the action felt even a little claustrophobic at times. I think that's what gave the story its exciting tension and edginess.

I prefer the tension that comes from Daniel's obsession with Wednesday, to the lack-of-communication tension that goes with the romance format. Romance plots don't d...more

Wednesday Carson has been with her dominant Vincent for the last five years. He has trained her to be a perfect submissive. She doesn’t question his commands and even anticipates his wants before he speaks. They have a trust and bond that doesn’t need frivolous romance or emotions to be real.

Vincent takes Wednesday out on a rare date for her birthday. He also decides to share her with a former student of his. Daniel Laurent is a dominant who has been on the...more

“Daniel,” she whispered into his palm, “I want to put on some stockings.”

This is the line I’ll always remember when thinking about this book. It’s sexual, submissive, manipulative, and darkly dangerous all wrapped into one. Owning Wednesday explores a dark, sensual power exchange between the dominant Daniel and submissive Wednesday. It studies the difference between owning and loving a person.

Daniel meets Wednesday when her previous dominant Vincent invites him to a threesome. Eventually Vince...more

Owning Wednesday by Annabel Joseph

This was a different kind of story for me and I kept going back and forth from liking it to not liking it. I finally settled on liking it because of the ending.

I believe what made this story more difficult for me were a couple of scenes where Wednesday was treated as a thing and not a person. The distinction of ‘owned’ versus ‘loved’ was really apparent to me in these and harder for me to understand. I was fine with the masochistic parts but the debasing names...more

4.5 or 5. I just finished it and I'm really not sure.

The book is a surprising twist from the beginning and the excerpt. It is a true romance, love story. In fact, there is a big surprise near the end that really makes the book much stronger and coalesces it into a whole. It contains some serious sadomasochism, but the handling of it and the explanations via the plot make it understandable and touching even if it is not one's particular preference/kink. Joseph makes both protagonists strong and a...more

For the 2nd time in my life, I didn't find myself rolling my eyes at a romance novel. Although I can't say I truly understand the psychology behind some BDSM practitioners, I figured as long as everyone seemed happy then it can't be that weird. And the characters in this book seemed happy for the most part. There wasn't anything dark or twisted, or ugly about what was going on, and I enjoyed that. So, thanks Annabel Joseph. I think you did a really good job telling this story. Please write a let...more

smart smut.great angsty arguments. vincent is a father figure and not big part of the story. the lines are blurred here. daniel is confused about loving her versus owning her...she is too. kink factor 4. really good editing and continuity.
I would have liked to see a deeper discussion of both their backgrounds and motivations
lots of great quotes;

"i'd like to have her alone"

" darling, who's in charge here?"
"you are."
"I am. aren't I?"

"listen, you crazy fuck"

daniel is a bit of a drama queen. but he...more

Wow, I ended up loving this one. I was a little annoyed the hinted "fucked up" little girl with Daddy issues. When the truth came out, I'm thinking, WTF. That's not really so fucked up. Then when we find out Wednesday is only 25 at one point, I'm just confused. I mean, seriously confused and a little disturbed.

Walk with me on this one. She actually met Daniel on her 24 birthday. But she's been with Victor for 5 years. 5 bloody years! That means he had her at 19. We know up front that Victor is i...more

***THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF OWNING WEDNESDAY***

This is definitely not your fluffy BDSM love story. Although I am not, nor have I ever been personally involved in a BDSM relationship, this is how I would imagine it would be.

There are so many things about this book, the characters-the lifestyle that I don't understand. The book was well written. Saying that the characters are complex would be a gross understatement. Wednesday, the submissive, had a very complicated upbringing-mo...more

I dont know what to say about this book i read it because i wanted to finish it. I didnt understand the relationship at all i kept getting the feeling Wednesday never really wanted to be controlled but her issues makes her believe she does. She fought it the whole time and i didnt understand why Wednesday and Daniel couldnt just have a normal relationship. i felt the BDSM took over there relationship most of the time althought Daniel said he wanted to be a normal couple. So i just have nothing t...more

I have to say that this book is the best BDSM book I've had the privilege of reading. Annabel Joseph knows how to use amazing descriptive words so that you become a part of the story. I was Wednesday and I loved the delicious torture.

If you haven't read Annabel's books...start here. But he warned it is full of BDSM with an amazing Happily Ever After. There were so many wonderful twists and turns. I'm just so glad that I closed the book feeling that Wednesday found what she had been looking for....more

This book is not for the faint of heart or those who want to dip their toe into the pool of BDSM. The complex relationships depicted here between Wednesday/Vincent and Wednesday/David give the reader a realistic sense of how a D/s relationship works.

Personally I hated Vincent's character until the end when motives were revealed giving insight to how he ticks. At times it's hard to tell if Daniel is really a top. Wednesday tends to top him from the bottom alot :)

All in all the book was a good re...more

This wasn't an exciting book, but it was a beautiful story about a loving D/s relationship. The writing was superb and the story felt very true to life. Although it is fairly easy to infer, I would have liked some more about how Wednesday felt after breaking up with Vincent. It wasn't clear to me how she viewed the relationship from the perspective of several months after it ended. I particularly enjoyed the author's point regarding ownership vs. love in D/s relationships. More than any other su...more

I really liked the writing style of this and will read more from this author. I'm struggling between 3* and 4*. The characters were lovely and this all was so emotional but I missed some details about their past and what are they like when they are not having sex....but wow those scenes were sexy and raw but this is what stuck on my mind not the characters' personalities.

I loved this book after looking for a sweet little BDSM story to pass the time I found this and loved every second ( I want a Daniel of my own lol)

Parts are a little rushed or maybe a little lacking but the rest of the good points make up for it.

Worth a read if you like alpha males and something a little naughty with out being to kinky.

Daniel is the most cute dom I ever saw in a book.
3/4 of the book is really nice, a good read. But the end.. I didn't like it, ways to much happy end and.. just too happy endish. If I had skipped the last two or three chapters I would like the book even more.
But the mix of story and sex is great, it is not senselese fucking, no there is story behind it. And I had problems to put the book down.
And I had the feeling that they are really humans, not some perfect human kind that does everything right...more

Oh I really liked this - and I totally fell in love with Daniel right from the first !

Wednesday is a lovely sub - amazingly so, even after 5 years of Vincent's domination; and no, I did NOT like Vincent.

A lovely fall-in-love-at-first sight Dom/sub story where the relationship feels real rather than proscribed!

There were parts of this I really enjoyed and parts I didn't. Didn't really feel I connected with any of the characters or the power exchange, it felt remote with too much sex - I started to flick through, and just odd. Can't quite say what I really felt about this but not one I will dwell over.

This is a fantastic read. It envolves a really intense relationship within the BDSM genre. Wednesday is a woman who battles with showing emotion and being loved. Daniel demands that she gives him a chance and let him love her, which makes Wednesday have to fight her feelings and her history.

Reading this book made me feel like a voyeur in a real couple's life rather than just an enjoyable story. It seemed like such a personal story and one that I couldn't put down. I loved this book and would like to thank Annabel Joseph for writing a truly fabulous story.

A little more of Wednesday's background would have been helpful. Author apparently thinks this is not that important, but I'm curious as to how one becomes a masochist.

Wow...this author's style of writing is so intense. Like you're right there experiencing every scene. Looking forward to reading more from her.
