One Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury is a tragic reminder of the events that happened on September 11 of 2001. Although this book is fictional, it is couldn’t be more accurate with this historical information within it. If I did not know any better, I may not have known it was not a true story. The attention that Kingsbury paid to detail is remarkable, and it really takes the book to a whole new level. While the characters may be fictitious, the content could not be rooted in the truth any mor...more

Overall, I loved this book! Karen Kingsbury is a Christian author and so that might not appeal to everyone. But in this novel I feel that she does a good job at showing how faith and Christianity helped one of the characters, Jake Bryan in his life. This novel starts out just before 9/11 and then takes us through the events and the months that followed through the eyes of 2 families. Identities are mistaken, though Karen Kingsbury uses this idea to help show the healing process that people have...more

One Tuesday Morning:

This is the first book I ever read by, Karen Kingsbury. I saw it at the store not long after 911, and because of that, wasn't sure I was up to reading anything about 911. Only because of the fireman on the cover, I bought it. My husband's a fireman.

Well, I was quickly drawn into the story. It was well written and a great read, keeping you turning the pages, wanting to see what happens next.

I finished the book, and thought it was really good; I couldn't get the brother, Clay,...more

This book, centered around the 9/11 attacks, is a very poignant novel with heavy Christian themes. Jake Bryan is a fireman who believes in God while his wife, Jamie, is a nonbeliever who doubts his faith. Despite this, the two are very much in love and together, dote on their bubbly four year old daughter, Sierra. They live in Staten Island. Meanwhile, Eric Michaels is an ambitious businessman who puts his job before his wife and seven year old son, Josh, occasionally missing important events, s...more

This book sat on my shelf for YEARS and I just never got around to it. Then I seen it on audible.com and bought it to listen to on audio.... now with tears in my eyes, I wonder what took me so long.

Jake Bryan was a God fearing man. He loved his wife Jamie, and his daughter Sierra with all of his heart. Jake was a fireman in New York City but made it a point to always be home to put his daughter to bed, and spend time with his wife.

Eric Micheal's was a business man through and through. When...more

The story covers two families affected by 9/11. Jake is a FDNY firefighter who is called into action in the south tower on 9/11. The other, Eric, is a businessman from California who just happens to be in the south tower on company business. Just before the tower collapses, Jake is heading up to the 64th floor and Eric is headed down from the 61st. The two meet in the stairwell and are struck by their uncanny resemblance to each other.

These two men, different as night and day, are both good men...more

The heartbreaking event of 9/11/2001 always brings a tear to my eyes. Shock, confusion, deep sorrow, and temporary joy start the beginning of another well-written series by this Karen Kingsbury. She brings to life a potential scenario of mistaken identity. In the south tower when firefighter Jake is on his way up the stairs and businessman Eric is headed down the stairs, a moment passes between the two as if looking into a mirror. Jake's helmet falls and the picture of Sierra, his daughter, beco...more

It is VERY rare that I give five stars.... I might read 2 books a year that come close to getting all five, but this one would get six if there was the option! Karen Kingsbury had me completely in her grip. A Christian author, Ms. Kingsbury's book "One Tuesday Morning" is sure to capture even a non-believer's attention, and hold it throughout the entire book. Set against the backdrop of 9/11, the story is fiction, but could very possibly have happened. In the wake of the 9/11 tragedy, and a case...more

This is the first book I've ever read by Karen Kingsbury, and it was a good one to start with. While it's not some of the best writing I've ever read, the story is EXCELLENT and absolutely captivating. It also was probably the most heart-wrenching thing I have read in a VERY long time. I can't remember the last book that literally had me choking back tears through a good portion of it!

I like that it's faith-based fiction. It's so cool to have characters who do what I do in times of crisis - pray...more

In the book, One Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury, i felt the way she told about the lives of people and their families before, during, and after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. This book tells the story of two men- Jake Bryan and Eric Michaels -who were in the South building of the Wourld Trade Center. It talks about Jake and Eric and their families before the accident, to learn how they were before that day. Then it goes through September 11 with you by times so you know where t...more

I've kind of struggled with what to say about this book. The writing is very heavily Christian; there's lots and lots of talk about God. I come from a strong Christian family where it is not strange to talk about God in our daily lives, but the writing in this book seemed unrealistic at times-a little over the top. However, this book is very touching. It brought back the horrible memories of 9/11...even though I wasn't directly touched by this tragedy. The scene between the two firefighters when...more

I love this book. Like love love it. When I rented this out from the library, I threw it onto the shelf as I do with all my books. I didn' t begin reading it till yesterday.

From the very first moment in the story, I felt like crying. The story was very touching. I had to close this book several times to prevent crying.

The story begins with Jake Bryan, a young man married to a young woman named Jamie along with a wonderful daughter, Sierra. Jake is a very holy Christian and also a firefighter as...more

One Tuesday Morning promised to be a very emotional, gut-renching read - and in that regard, it didn't disappoint. This was the first book by Karen Kingsbury I've read, and while the story itself compelled me to read to the end to find out how everything would be sorted out, I found myself continuously frustrated with the writing, the repetition of information that felt like I was being beaten over the head with, and the completely contrived and unbelievable plot line. I'm afraid the prose was t...more

I liked this book although I kind of wish I didn't' already know it was a case of mistaken identity. Don't worry this is not a spoiler alert you know this from the very beginning. I guess the book has gotten some criticism for not being historically accurate to the time line of events that day. That does not really bother me, its a fiction book so I expect some poetic license, also the author notes in the beginning tells you upfront that she changed a few things around from that day, so I don't...more

One Tuesday Morning is a story about 2 separate families in different areas of the country and how their lives were changed forever from the events of September 11, 2001. Jake and Jamie Bryan live in Staten Island with their four year old daughter, Sierra. They have been in love since childhood and married after college. Jake is a firefighter for the FDNY in Manhattan. Jake is a dedicated husband and father and has a strong Christian faith but Jamie has been questioning her faith since her paren...more

i learned that no matter the circumstance that god always has a plan for us even when we dont see it when we are going through the toughest things in our lives. that no matter what god know where we are and that is has never let us down. The hardest thing somethimes to do is to let god be god in your life. i also learned that you need to really have the peace of god.

I've heard people say that everyone has a twin running around on this Earth.

This is a story based on 9/11/2001. The second airplane has just crashed into the second Twin Tower. People are rushing to get down the stairs since the elevators are broken. During one point in time, while on firefighter was going up, another is coming down the stairs. They glance at each other only to see how much they look alike. A few hours later, the same person is found a truck a few miles from the Towers. The chie...more

It feels weird to call this "historical fiction", but that's the best I could come up with. Is it history if you were alive when it happened?

I loved almost everything about this book. Sept. 11 is such a recent part of our collective history that I was worried that it would be too hard to approach... either it would seem too harsh or too emotional. But I thought the author did a superb job and landed somewhere in the middle. It was fascinating to read the events of that day from other perspective...more

I wasn't very sure about this book. My first thought was that if it wasn't written with a lot of compassion then it would really do a great disservice to those that lost their lives on 9/11. However, the book came highly recommended from several people so I decided to try it.

I had mixed reactions to the book. The thing that really stuck out the most was that the plot simply wasn't believable. However, this is fiction so I pushed that thought aside. The writing was OK but didn't wow me. The chara...more

Oh my gosh - get some kleenex but so good! It's about Sept. 11th... about a fireman and a businessman. One lives. One doesn't. Fiction, but felt so real. A little tough to relive that morning, but a lot of it is about after that day.

Karen Kingsbury is one of my favorite authors, having said that I must also say that I think One Tuesday Morning is one of the most heart breaking novels I have ever read. The book is set around 911 and is about two entirely different families who have to learn to cope with the loss of the men they loved. They learn to deal with this by leaning on the family and friends that surround them. I believe that God has a plan for all of us and in this novel you begin to understand what his plan is for...more

This a a heartbreaking novel about September 11th at the Twin Towers.

One makes it out with amnesia, but will he find his way home. Jamie Bryan takes care of her husband Jake trying to help him remember. A family on the other side of the country is griefing their lose. Most of the time I really liked it, and there were times I couldn't put it down. However, by the time it ended, I was bit disenchanted from having to link three huge themes together. Each was good, but the impact of 9/11 eventually faded, overshadowed by the drama of the other themes. It just didn't mesh right. The romance was often cheesy, and I'm growing tired of people working their jaws and raking their hands through their hair.

I do recommend it because it's a wonderful memorial to the fire...more

I have become addicted to Karen Kingsbury's books! Can't get enough. One Tuesday Morning is a page turner. Like all of her books, it is fairly predictable, but Karen writes in such a way that she pulls you in to the drama and the characters. I had a hard time putting it down. The 9/11 retelling was very believable. I also love the spiritual dimension to her characters, whether strong believers, or individuals who are struggling with their beliefs. Unfortunately, I read the books out of order, so...more

This book is amazing! It really made me feel like I was going through what the characters were going through. As soon as I finished it I cried like a baby and then read the second and third very shortly after. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a moving story. The odd thing about this was that I read it over the summer without realizing that this year was the tenth anniversary of 9/11. When the eleventh rolled around and they were interviewing firemen and families of those who lost...more

Okay...I was really excited and eager to read this book but I found it very annoying. I'm Catholic, go to Church regularly and I pray, etc. But I don't push my religion on anyone else and I don't go around every 15 minutes telling people that I'm praying for them. That being said, it seemed liked every other paragraph was about praying to the Lord, or someone's struggle with faith and someone else trying to help someone else with their faith. It got to the point where I couldn't enjoy the book....more

Still trying to live through the loss of my husband, One Tuesday Morning swept me away on another tide of emotions. Karen Kingsbury crafted a beautiful love story of two families amid the horror of September 11, 2001. One family was from Staten Island, NY who had a very happy marriage and family and the other from Los Angelis, CA had a marriage and family heading quickly for breakup. One minute I found myself with teary eyes and then in the next smiling once again. Gut wrenching at times, this b...more

WOW...this is the first book I have ever read about 9/11 and a possible scenario. Really brought it all to reality of what a tragedy that day was to so many thousands of people and the thousands more that loved them. Karen's writing brings you there and you feel what the characters in the book are feeling as well as God moving in their lives and how He speaks through her fictional writing as well.....
In the story I wonder how it would have been if Eric and Jake were found to be twins. That would...more

This book is a realistic fiction about two very different families and how their lives were intertwined with the events of 9/11. It's a hard read at times because it takes you back to that day and it's so vivid and you're in tears seeing it from a person who was in the towers when it collapsed and also from a fire fighter's perspective that was in there trying to rescue people. Not only that but from their wives and what they had to deal with not knowing and talking to their children. This is a...more
