Ok I waitied ages to read this, the anticipation nearly killed me, it arrived one morning earlier this week and before I knew it I read the whole bloody thing...all that waiting and it was over in a couple of hours, and now I'm left with that post 'fantastic book' depression that I always get when I've read something that I'd like never to finish.

So I guess it's pretty obvious that I loved the third book in the Alex Kennedy story. I was epecting one thing and Ms Hart threw me a blinder and wrote something completly the opposite and far better than I could ever have anticipated. As always Ms HArt writes more than just a love story, each character comes with their ready made baggage which is something I've come to expect, Alex and Olivia are no differnt. This book takes places 3 to 4 years on from Tempted and Everything Changes, Alex is slightly different, perhapes a little more world weary? Olivia is a friend of a 'friend'. and has her own set of issues, the two hit it off and their relationship develops from there. With all it's ups and downs.

I love the way Ms Hart takes her characters outside the 'normal' realms of romance and enhances their personalities with various back stories, this is a story of finding yourself, who you are, and accepting what you find, it's also a story of acccepting love and taking chances even though some of the things you find out may take you away from what think you know and ultimatley trust. This story had it's fair share of surpries and not just little ones but ones of jaw dropping portentous, it also has it's fair share of sadness but lots of happiness too!

I would like to add here that Ms Hart writes what she sees and feels about the world around us and in particular injustice so she is not afraid to take her stories and characters out of the 'cosy cosy'. Naked is no different, same sex adoption, religious diffrences, racism and homophobia are all included and thumbs up to Ms Hart for not fudging about but telling it as it is.

This story had me in tears but it also made me feel happy, any fans of Megan Hart will not be disappointed.

It turns out that Alex needs a place to stay for a few months and Olivia has an apartment she can rent out to him while he is in town on business. Both are attracted to each other but Olivia is very hesitant to become involved in a relationship with a man who might swing both ways. Megan Hart's writing is so difficult for me to give a grade when reviewing. I think she is such a fabulous writer. Her characters are completely fleshed out and so human that it is hard not to be drawn in by them and have an emotional reaction. But at the same time sometimes the characters are so human, faults and all, that the very same thing that drew you in pushes you away. Am I making any sense at all?

Let's start with Alex. On the outside he seems so completely put together. All posh and circumstance, yet just past the surface the man is a mess. He thinks he knows what he wants, but I am not convinced that he does. Olivia's perception when it comes to relationships is very skewed and much of this is due to the fact that the only serious relationship she has had is with a gay man.

But despite all these obstacles it is obvious that these two when together are happy. They have baggage that they will have to work to overcome. I like that the author doesn't sugar coat things and faces the fact that for the relationship to be successful, Olivia and Alex will have to work for it. I really liked how Ms. Hart ties themes of acceptance throughout the book. She took religion, race and sexual orientation all without being preachy, and showed how these things can affect a person or people. I thought that was very well done of her and it gave the book quite a bit of depth.

I must admit the way the book was going I thought it was going to end badly. Fortunately, things were resolved in the end, but I felt that the ending was VERY abrupt. I wish that things could have been hammered out a little better and eventually this is what led me to lower the grade rating. I am not entirely convinced of the happy ever after.

I feel like I've waited forever to read Alex's story!!! I loved his character in Tempted, I fell in love with him, flaws and all, and I wanted to see him get his HEA. This was a great story all around by Ms. Hart, even though not as emotionally draining perhaps as I was expecting from her.

Nothing about this felt casual.
Just the opposite, in fact. It felt like it meant too much.
This night. This man.

I was so ecstatic when I finished Tempted and saw that the story continues and that we get Alex's story (one of the main characters in Tempted)in Naked,so there wasn't a question for me which book should I read next. Even though I liked his HEA Olivia, I was a bit disappointed, because the story wasn't from his point of view. In the end it felt that it was more her story than his.

Once again, this was a rather disturbing read.
To be honest, at one point (around page 70), I just felt this was too much baggage, too weird, for me to be able to relate to the heroine and to enjoy the story. I put it back on the virtual shelf and read something else before picking it up again.
Megan Hart's trademark is that she knows how to give depth to characters through an accumulation of small anecdotes and thus succeeds in creating unforgettable characters. Problem is sometimes they are not...more Once again, this was a rather disturbing read.

Megan Hart's trademark is that she knows how to give depth to characters through an accumulation of small anecdotes and thus succeeds in creating unforgettable characters. Problem is sometimes they are not so lovable. Alex was really sweet throughout the story, seemed really in love but remained so guarded and secretive that I cannot say I felt confident about their couple's future by the end of the book – though I was sure they loved each other. Then there's Olivia – I really liked the adopted black girl grown in a white environment, with divorced parents, the resulting hang-ups and overall the way she handles all kind of racist behaviors, from the mildest surprise to the blatant insults. What did not feel as convincing to me was her inner spiritual and religious quest which I felt was not linked at all to what's happening in her life at this moment – like if it was another totally independent subplot. And what I really truly hated was her inner submission in her relationship with her ex Patrick, or with Devon and Steven (spoiler), the gay couple who adopted her daughter a few years back and insisted constantly since then on Olivia having a relationship with her birth daughter though she absolutely did not feel like it (/spoiler): she realized late in the story how obedient she always had been to Patrick while this one never had her own interest in mind but only his own but then it takes her a while to get over it and finally have it all out and she only does so because Patrick (once again) led the verbal battle. Though she knew Alex had a bisexual history (to say the least), she waited for ages before putting the subject on the table and its solving was way to easy for me to believe the evil had been rooted and would not come back.
Too much angst, too much trauma and an heroine too passive in her relationships to others for me to like it.(less)

Naked started just fine.Or almost just fine.It was kinda shocking to see Alex being his gay self and not the bi he actually is.Then he says that he hasn't had sex with a woman since Anne and it shows once more his feelings about her.

3-1/2 Stars. Kept my interest, but had some "flow" problems from one scene to the next. This is the audiobook version, and although I generally like this reader, she strangely gave characters (that she didn't do the voices for) from some of Hart's other books, voices that wouldn't make you like or recognize anything like they were in their own books (huh?!?). And ... they WEREN'T attractive voices: They sounded like they were in "slow-mo." Bizarre!

What is fun about this book is a continuation of what happens in Alex’s life; where he is 3-4 years after the appearance in Tempted. OLIVIA IS FRIGGING AWESOME. One of my favorite romantic heroines of all time. She is someone I can relate to: no-nonsense, ethnically ambiguous, not quite religious, not quite not religious, intelligent, sexy, confident but insecure at the same time, and a woman who is very accepting of non-traditional expressions of masculinity. She is the perfect woman for Alex, who seems to be maybe a 2 or 3 on the Kinsey scale (it seems more like he just wants a warm place to put it, not necessarily identifying as bisexual). Yes, he loves Jamie in a sexually confused friendly way, but he loves Olivia more--and he wants to build a life with her as a faithful, doting husband. I LOVE THEM TOGETHER and that is saying a lot because I was "Team Alex and Jamie" after reading "Tempted."

Anyway, I don't like to write huge reviews, so I will keep this short. My only criticism of this book is that the ending was abrupt. I needed more resolution: How did Olivia's business endeavor pan out? How was the wedding? Did she wear a ballgown? A-line? Sheath? (I can totally see her in a sheath.) Where do they live? Where does Alex work? Is Alex a houseboy now? Stay at home dad? Did his scarf collection fit in their shared quarters? Did he try any other fragrances from the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab besides "Whip?" I wanted baby pictures and a five year plan, damnit. It was a happyish ever after ending for me. I suppose their big fight at the end came too closely to the resolution, so that made it a little shaky (just my opinion). I think that was Hart's point, though--both characters are aware that they are different. They are "other"--undefinable. It is in embracing each other's otherness that they finally find true happiness. I really did love this book! Alex seems happy, so I'm happy. Happy trees!!

Hart's writing is so strong that even with my teensy lack of satisfaction with the ending, this is still a five-star read. I wish more authors took the time to edit and process their books properly (not just indie or self published authors, even authors with major publishing houses sometimes seem like they were translated to English from Sanskrit using Google translate). /tangent.

Good book, buy it, Megan Hart is awesome. Love her. The end.(less)

This Erotic romance was one of the first that I read in this genre. Personally I wasn’t that impressed. I think there was too much photography of a pornographic nature. There was also too much fighting between the characters.

This Erotic romance was one of the first that I read in this genre. Personally I wasn’t that impressed. I think there was too much photography of a pornographic nature. There was also too much fighting between the characters.

Those were the things I didn’t like, now on to the things I did like about “Naked”. Olivia was a very interesting character. She is a photographer which explains the pornographic photos part. She is also very smart and talented in many different ways. She has a messed up family history and a best friend that tried to marry her just to hide the fact that he was gay. With all of Olivia’s emotional damage you would think that she would be a quivering mass of emotions, she is anything but.

When Alex and Olivia meet there is an instant attraction. Her best friend tells her to steer clear because he uses woman. But that doesn’t stop Olivia; especially not after witnessing Alex give an unknown man a blow job on Patrick’s (Olivia’s gay best friend) back deck. This is when she realizes that Patrick was right, Alex is dangerous but in the most desirable way possible.

From this point on the story gets hotter and hotter. Alex moves into Olivia’s downstairs apartment that is attached to her loft. This starts a kindling relationship that would make your mother blush! With lots of sex, and sex, and more sex this story is very warming during the coldest days of winter!

Now I don’t want to get to into how much the characters fighting annoyed me but I must warn you. Patrick is jealous of Olivia and Alex’s relationship and for three quarters of the book Patrick and Olivia are fighting. Some of the things said between them are very harsh and that’s when Olivia realizes their friendship can’t be salvaged. Now I would have been fine if the fighting hadn’t taken over the story and overrun the main point of the book. But because it made me forget that this was supposed to be a romance novel instead of a Jersey Shore episode, I must say that I would not read this book again and I am kind of upset that I wasted my time.

Now I am not giving up on Megan Hart’s books because she has a talent in writing and I would like to see what else she has to offer with her books. I already have “Switch” another book by her on my To Be Read list. I do look forward to reading more from her and all I can say is hopefully her other books are much better than “Naked”.

There is romance and lots of hot and steamy sex in “Naked” by Megan Hart but unfortunately for me the fighting outweighs the positive things that happened in this book. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone but feel free to read it if you want.

The thing I like about Megan Hart's writing (and by that I mean the characters and the overall story) is that it's real and complicated and messy. In other words, it's a lot like real life.

That being said, that's sometimes the thing I don't like about Megan Hart's books. :) None of her stories seem to have the tried-and-true HEA. I'm okay with that because, well, see above.

I read this after a conversation with a friend. I declared: "Erotic novels are boring. Gratuitous sex and no character development." I wasn't a fan of the Fifty Shade's novels; Anastasia really got on my nerves.

I’ve been meaning to try out one of Megan’s books for a while now. I think I decided to try one when Collide came out. I just loved the cover. Then, I read some reviews of her books over at Under the Covers. They sounded delightful. Though I usually like historical romance, I do enjoy some contemporary romance every now and then. I also don’t usually read erotic romance, but I’ve found that I can enjoy those just as much when they’re well written. Then, I read some reviews of her books over at Under the Covers. They sounded delightful. Though I usually like historical romance, I do enjoy some contemporary romance every now and then. I also don’t usually read erotic romance, but I’ve found that I can enjoy those just as much when they’re well written. It’s just funny to think about the fact that a year ago I would never have picked up this book. I’ve just opened up so much to romance that I really enjoy them. They’ve become my fun reads. When I get too bogged down by YA lit or other genres, I can pick up a romance book and devour it. That is exactly what I did with this audio book. I listened to the entire thing in one day.

Olivia is a great character from the beginning, but I really enjoyed witnessing her develop. She’s so cautious. She almost never gets involved with anyone after being burned by Patrick. Yet, she keeps Patrick in her life, allowing him to hurt her over and over. Patrick isn’t ignorant to how she feels about him, and he constantly uses those feelings to manipulate her. It was such a relief when she finally stood up to him. Her relationship with her mother is strained. That was another part of development that was nice to witness. Though there will probably always be issues between Olivia and her mother, at least they began working through them a little bit. I think Alex was a big help in that department, too.

Olivia’s relationship with Alex is captivating. It was difficult for me at times because I would never be one to hold back asking questions I wanted the answers to. Olivia spends half the relationship without asking a lot of questions that she should. I know it’s hard to find the line between asking questions and prying, but I would have been pushing a little for some answers. Though Alex claims he never lied to her, sometimes withholding information is just as bad. I still have to give him credit. He does answer truthfully when she asks him questions. I do like that they’re not perfect. Both Alex and Olivia make mistakes and have to work at their relationship. It’s so obvious they want to make it work and they’re willing to do what it takes. Most of the strain comes from Olivia’s previous experience with Patrick and from Alex’s reluctance to lay out his past for Olivia to see. I have to say Alex is the one to step up in the end. He’s exactly right. Olivia can’t punish him for what someone else did to her. And no matter what he’s done in his past, what really matters is that he loves her now and that she’s the one he wants to be with.

Something Alex says in the book really stuck with me the rest of the time. He and Olivia are messing around, and he’s talking to her about control. Having control can make you feel exciting and sexy, but sometimes losing it can make you feel all the same things. Either way, there has to be trust. And I just got to thinking about how in a relationship both parties have control of each other. There’s vulnerability, and where there is vulnerability there has to be trust. It made the title make so much more sense to me. For things to work, both Alex and Olivia have to lay everything on the table. They have to strip themselves of their secrets, feel naked and vulnerable, and trust that the other person will love them for who they are and will stay true to them. That’s what I got from it anyway. There’s a lot more to it, but I don’t need to make this review any longer. I’ll just throw in that I really enjoyed Lauren Fortgang’s voice acting. I absolutely loved her voice for Alex. It can be really difficult for women to pull off good voices for men, and I think she did a great job.(less)

Ok first off I read Tempted so long ago that I totally didn't make the connection.

But to the main part. Although I liked the book and the characters, i found the whole thing just way too convoluted for my liking. Dang-it! It's been a while since I read it. I just know that what started out as an intriguing premise become less surefooted once Alex declared his love. The ending was, i guess, supposed to be reality-based, open-ended, but it just lacked EMOTIONAL authenticity for me. But then, most of Megan Hart's do by the last page. A situation which is really maddening if you read a lot of her stuff.

I loved this book. Alex and Olivia were fun and sexy. There were two things that I hated about it, though. First, the big misunderstanding. It wasn't long & drawn out like in most books, but it made this book into a train wreck waiting to happen. Given Olivia's history (with Patrick) and who Alex was, you just KNEW something was going to rear its ugly head and ruin things for them... so you just had to sit & wait patiently page by page until somebody screwed up. And he now keeps her in his life, sort of like throwing crumbs to her every once in a while -- she never stopped loving him and he knows it. And uses it against her sometimes.

In a way, she was a perfect fit for Alex, who never really could figure out where he fit either. He's bi, for those who haven't read the books. Self-made millionaire who literally came from nothing, but he was "pretty" and charming. He realized he fit with her. And then she had to take a blind leap of faith to embrace that. And THEN it was heart-wrenching! I kept waiting for "it" to happen -- Alex to fuck it up royally -- and it happened, not because of something Alex did now, but something Alex did then and hadn't told her. But then Alex salvaged it somehow. She was so broken, but he salvaged it because he loved her so much. And yes, this was one where it ended on an up-note, but anything could happen after "the end" to fuck it all up. Ms. Hart's stories are really good and so layered, and the characters so well built, you just bleed for them. I bled for some of the characters in The Help, but I didn't feel so drained afterward! I think if I'm gonna read Megan Hart, I'll have to definitely do it in moderation. But this is one of those stories that will stick with you, too. It's not fluff to dismiss when you move to the next story.

with Sarah and Jack. Had I not read Stranger, I wouldn't have recognized it. I might not have recognized it if I hadn't read Stranger first, but I got it immediately, which was fun. :-)(less)

Megan Hart tackles real-world issues of race, sexuality, adoption, and religion in an open and honest manner that is quite refreshing. The single POV style means we don't get other characters' motivations, but it does mean we get to see more of the main character's personality. L’Alex che avevo conosciuto in Perfette geometrie era incompleto, imperfetto, ma sexy, affascinante e misterioso al punto tale che l’avevo preferito di gran lunga al protagonista maschile del romanzo. In questo, Alex rimane affascinante e senza dubbio è un personaggio mai banale e di non facile lettura, ma mi aspettavo decisamente di più dal romanzo e dalla coppia che si crea.

La trama mi convince poco: non c’è un sussulto, un cambio di passo, tutto avviene in maniera lineare, scontata; aspetti per tutto il romanzo che accada qualcosa che sconvolga la quiete, come la Hart sa fare molto bene, e invece niente. A conti fatti, anche le scene hot risultano ripetitive e senza troppo pathos, come se avesse ripetuto il compitino senza avere idea di dove andare a parare.
E poi i protagonisti, secondo me, sono caratterizzati non al meglio: Alex vive del fascino lasciato in eredità dal romanzo precedente, e qui non è caratterizzato al meglio; la sua confusione sessuale e la crisi d’identità non traspaiono in maniera efficace, sembra più che altro confuso, e così si perde quell’alone di mistero che invece era stato la forza del personaggio.
Anche Olivia non sono riuscita ad inquadrarla bene, non mi ha lasciato molto come personaggio femminile.
Indubbiamente la Hart ha inserito bene la tematica della diversità in tutte le sue sfaccettature (religiosa, razziale, sessuale), ma non ha saputo renderla al meglio sulla carta. E poi un personaggio odioso quanto Patrick è difficile da trovare… Era da borsettate in faccia ogni volta che apriva bocca!
E’ sempre un piacere invece rivedere i vecchi personaggi, come Elle e Dan, e vederli felici e sereni!
Lo stile della Hart mi piace sempre molto, ma forse all’inizio mi entusiasmava perché era un novità, ora forse noto più cose, sto più attenta, e alcuni particolari mi sembrano ripetersi in maniera non proprio positiva.
In conclusione, dal romanzo di Alex mi aspettavo molto di più.

I didn't know what to expect when I started reading Naked, but I had no idea that I would become so engrossed in the novel that I wouldn't put it down. Olivia and Alex...both multifaceted and realistic...are so good together. Ms. Hart tells the story in addicting glimpses that keep you flipping the pages for more. I found myself trying to place myself in Olivia's shoes...What would I do? How would I feel? I was so caught up in their story that it was almost like watching a Lifetime movie! Alex k...more
