I really liked this one. Which is so weird because I disliked Cait and Dash so much in the previous books. But I liked getting to know them on their own. In this book, Dash, the Lycan who fought William for Prisca in the last book, has managed to "accidentally" bite Cait during the full moon, thus marking her as his Lycan mate for life. Their journey to love leads him to his past where he finally finds out who he really is and where he really comes from. The fights and the banter between Cait an...more

First my usual reassurance. Yes this is actually book 4 but fear not! You can read this as a standalone with any problems, the facts that are important are there, and of course it's a good way to get surprised too. But if the OCD hits you bad, then go and read book 1 and work up to this one. Or just jump in and have fun.

Dashiel (Dash) Thorpe has never felt good in his own skin—is wolf skin that is. His mother died at childbirth and his father never accepted him, blaming Dash for his mother death. Though Dash is an Earl, he doesn’t take responsibility seriously and women are no more than a conquest for him to bed.

Catrin (Cait) Macleod is a witch with an amazing ability to read people’s futures. Only the gift can leave her daunted at times. She craves a quiet life, but a chance encounter with Dashiel sets her li...more

Caitrin Macleod has visions of the future. When she starts having visions of a gold wolf causing all sorts of trouble, she worries but has no clue it will involve her. Dashiel Thorpe's foolish act on a full moon will not only change his life - but Caitrin's as well.

The Taming of the Wolf is a an absolutely fun read, a stellar addition to the series. Caitrin and Dashiel play a game of flirtatious - push and pull, cat and mouse and it was interesting to see it play out. Caitrin first appeared in T...more

I wasn't overly fond of Cait in the other stories and I certainly didn't have a high opinion of Dash considering his role in the last book in this series so I was dubious when I started this one. But Dash surprised me and so did Cait. I expected to find them over stubborn and obtuse but they weren't. Yes, it took a little time for them to realize what they meant to each other and for Dash to win me over after his foolishness, but they weren't overly dramatic and I was surprised by how much I lov...more

Yep, I just finished The Taming of the Wolf by Lydia Dare. Ok, it's the second time reading this book and I have to say I really love it. I mean it was a lot of fun to re-read again. So, here is a glimpse of the book and what I thought of the story.

First off there's always trouble awaiting when the moon is full and a Lycan sitting in a study by himself. Caitrin Macleod couldn't sleep, so she wonders into the Duke's study looking for something to help her sl...more

What more can I say about this author and her books that I haven't said before? The books are amazing and the writing is spectacular! With each book, my love of the series just grows even more!

Like the title suggests, Dashiel must learn how to tame his beast side. Unfortunately, Caitrin finds herself mixed into the lesson against her will. It leaves consequences that will leave both of them with choices to make. They each have their own set of secrets they choose to keep, while Dash is trying to...more

Dashiel Thorpe is more than a man but views himself as a monster. If a reader met him in the previous book, The Wolf Next Door, then he'll be expected to be a bad guy. If a reader has not met him before, then this book will depict him as he really is - a misunderstood, unloved and tormented man who only wants to belong but is angry and afraid of the world all at the same time. Caitrin is an absolute doll. I always liked her character in the previous books because she is opinionated, feisty and d...more

The Taming of the Wolf by Lydia Dare
Paranormal Romance- Nov 1st, 2010

Lydia Dare continues her incredible and involving werewolf series in Taming the Wolf. I found this book lighthearted and quickly immersing. I have been looking forward to this story because it features 2 main characters that have been prominently and tantalizingly mentioned in her prior books. I was happy when my expectations were fulfilled! (While this is part of a series and many character return from her series this...more

'Taming The Wolf' is touted as a paranormal , Regency, historical, romance. I might question the historical part, although this book does have a good historical flavor. Generally speak I don't / won't read strictly romance novels - since my long ago years as a bookstore manager left me cold to 'Harlinquin-esqe' bodice ripper sort of books. Of course they did always sell well and we seemed to sell out of Barbara Cartland books very quickly.

Lydia Dare is actually a writing team - and they do a won...more

I wasn’t sure what to expect in this fourth book in the Westfield Brothers series, especially since we’re out of brothers to read about and the fact the hero of this book isn’t the nicest of men in The Wolf Next Door when we first meet him. He comes clean about his behavior in that story, but what happens next, of course, is left up in the air. All is revealed here, and what a wolf Dashiel Thorpe has turned out to be.

Dash has agreed to mentoring proposed by the Westfield brothers, the hope being...more

This is a fun book. It opens as witch Caitrin, staying at her friend's in Hampshire goes exploring the house on the night of a full moon, and encounters a rather handsome man. Inexplicably drawn to the man, they share a passionate kiss and then before she knows it the man is biting her!

Shocked by her encounter, Caitrin flees the house the very next day to return home to Scotland.

This is the fourth book in the Westfield Brothers series and it features Dash Thorpe and Caitrin McLeod. Dash is trying to learn to control his beast when he runs into Cait at the Westfield residence. He is unable to help himself and bites Cait on the neck, little does he know he has just mated to her in the Lycan way. Cait has vowed to stay away from all Lycans, especially after her friend just married Ben Westfield and he is trying to keep her away from her coven. The two are pushed together b...more

This book features minor characters introduced in the previous two books, Tall, Dark and Wolfish and The Wolf Next Door. I'd really enjoyed the trilogy featuring the Westfield brothers, but The Taming of the Wolf, while still good, was good in a different vein.

The major conflict, and what drew me to the series initially, was the fact that the potential lady loves for the Westfield brothers do not know their true natures. The Taming of the Wolf tossed this conflict out the window. Cait knows exa...more

Lord Dashiel Thorpe was introduced in Lydia Dare’s third ‘Westfield Brothers’ book, ‘The Wolf Next Door’. In that book, Dashiel ‘Dash’ Thorpe was a rogue Lycan trespassing on William Westfield’s territory by trying to marry his mate, Prisca Hawthorne. In ‘Taming of the Wolf’ Dash has lost the girl but decided to reclaim his life and humanity. He no longer wants to be a wild and dangerous Lycan – he wants to reform and learn how to control his ‘beast’. But on the night of this decision the beauti...more

Werewolves are afoot in Regency England!

Dashiel Thorpe, Earl of Brimsworth, has always believed that he was an aberration, an abomination, because he father never told him that there were others like him. When he discovers that he and the Westfield family have a common trait, he seeks their help in taming the wolf that besieges him every full moon.

Caitrin Macleod, a hereditary witch with an aversion to Lycans, is a guest at the Westfield estate. She knows what the Westfields are werewolves and d...more

THE TAMING OF THE WOLF by Lydia Dare is a delightful paranormal romance set in 1817 Scotland. It is the fourth in the Westfield Brothers trilogy and can be read as a stand alone. Although, this one is about Dashiel Thorpe. An outsider, who doesn't know how to be a Lycan or how to control it,so he gets into trouble. It is well written with depth, details, twists, turns, full of action and fast paced. It has romance, vulnerability, sensuality, love, family, wit, magic,Lycans, witches, living with ones self,...more

Dash is a Lycan - a werewolf - but he was raised to believe he was a monster. Not knowing the truth of his nature, he fought long and hard to repress the beast within, which includes sequestering himself at each month during the full moon. On one such night, Caitrin finds herself stumbling into Dash and the two are drawn to one another. They share a kiss and Dash bites (marks) her. After that, Caitrin quickly leaves. It isn’t until later that Dash finds out that he accidentally claimed Caitrin a...more
