An illuminating description of the fortress of Rhodes, and how it help up under two sieges. Rhodes Besieged: A New History corrects a couple of Nossov's errors-- artillery didn't have to cool down, and cannon balls don't stick in stone walls-- but otherwise this is a better book.

Very helpful guide to understanding the fortifications, terrain and hisotry of the island. Both pictures and diagrams were quite illuminating.
