Very interesting not only for the description of the battles for Rhodes, but because it explains why barbican, bulwark and bastions were made

An illuminating description of the fortress of Rhodes, and how it help up under two sieges. Rhodes Besieged: A New History corrects a couple of Nossov's errors-- artillery didn't have to cool down, and cannon balls don't stick in stone walls-- but otherwise this is a better book.

Very helpful guide to understanding the fortifications, terrain and hisotry of the island. Both pictures and diagrams were quite illuminating.
