This book was written around 1987, so it is an incomplete portrait of Garrison Keillor, although it is fine a a history of his high school and college years when he was starting to develop as a writer. The author then covers the Minnesota Public Radio years when Prairie Home Companion struggled to find its audience and eventually became the most popular show on public radio.
