Little llama llama is back, and this time he's getting impatient with his mother as she shops in the grocery store. The situation progresses until little llama is having a full-blown, pasta-flying, juice-spraying, cart-crashing, Cheezee Puff-tossing fit in the grocery store. Mama llama handles the ugly and potentially embarrassing situation with tremendous grace and patience (oh, that all moms were as calm as Mama llama), reminding little llama of how much he is loved, and leading him to quietly...more
This book was so cute and a fun and easy read. This book is about a llama and his mama going shopping for groceries and the baby llama is mad at his mama because he does not want to go. Through out the story the little llama is not behaving and throwing a fit but the mama disciplines him and asks him to work with her so they can make the best of the trip since she does not like it either. Because the book is simple it would be an easy read for a young child with some assistance. It would help kid...more
Llama Llama Mad at Momma is a picture book written by Anna Dewdney. The intended ages of this book are N birth through five years of age. This story is about a child who throws a fit and makes a big mess during his shopping trip with his mother. Momma Llama calmly helps him clean up the mess and lets him help her with the rest of the shopping. At the end of the story his momma gives him a treat for being good and he loves his momma. I rated this book a four because I like the story, the illustra...more
This book by Anna Dewdney is a fun book for the students. It is about a little llama who wants to play but mama llama makes him go to the store with her. The lines are all too long and she is taking to much time so little llama throws a fit in the store. Towards the end of this story mama tells him to stop and says that he should be happy because she is there with him. They work together to clean up the mess and then they are happy after this. Children would enjoy this story because it rhymes an...more
Llama llama mad at mama is story any children can associate with because of the roller coaster emotions young people can go through when they are drug to the local convenient store with their mothers. It starts off with mama llama loading up her son in the car to go grocery shopping. While at the Shop-o-Rama they pick up things like socks, pasta and paper towels. Llama thinks the shopping trip is taking to long and throws a fit. After his mother tells him his behavior is inappropriate and will n...more
Any child who hates to go shopping with mom, and any mom who hates to take her kids shopping will understand this book all too well. Dewdney knows how to write a good book in rhyme, and her illustrations are fabulous--who knew how expressive a llama's face could be. This one is as good as the original "Llama Llama Red Pajama" and I hope Dewdney has more adventures planned for Mama and Llama Llama!
Llama llama Mad at Mama is a children's book about a little Llama who is playing at home when his Mama needs to go to the store, he doesn't like the idea but he goes anyway. She has him try on clothes and makes him ride around for a long time. He gets so mad that he starts throwing stuff everywhere. She has him help pick everything up and lets him help with the shopping so its not so boring anymore. She lets him know that she doesn't like it either and that she is just glad to be with the one sh...more
SO cute. Mama drags Llama Llama to run errands at the Shop-O-Rama, when all he really wants to do is play. As we can imagine, this does not make Llama Llama a happy camper. But my favorite thing about this book (aside from the amazing rhyming scheme) is how Mama Llama handles his inevitable tantrum. Llama Llama throws a fit (and a good portion of the shopping cart) but Mama just coolly calms him down by saying how she doesn't like shopping either but she's just happy to spend time with him. How...more
This adventure with Llama and Mama is a great opener for children learning about becoming impatient and mad. Llama and Mama go to the store and Mama promises Llama a surprise when they are done. Llama is excited at first but then starts to become impatient as Mama is shopping for clothes, shoes, groceries, and other household items. Like many children, Llama sees lots of things that he wants and gets sensory overload. He throws sort of a fit in the store and yells at Mama. Mama CALMLY finds out...more
Excellent children book and especially for the younger audience, the illustration are excellent and they convey the emotions of Llama while he is shopping with his momma. It is a good storyline which children could relate to especially if they do not like shopping with their momma. It might be viewed as a learning tool for some children to learn how to tolerate shopping and it could even inspire them and teach them how to behave appropriately. Llama Llama learned his lesson and realized that sho...more

Does any child like to go shopping? Not Llama Llama! But Mama cant leave Llama at home, so off they go to Shop-O-Rama. Lots of aisles. Long lines. Mama is too busy to notice that Llama Llama is getting m-a-d! And before he knows it, hes having a full-out tantrum! Mama quickly calms him down, but she also realizes that they need to make shopping more fun for both of them. Parents and children are sure to recognize themselves in this fun-to-read follow-up to the popular Llama Llama Red Pajama.

This is a cute children’s book, and the rhymes are fun. Llama Llama makes great faces in the artwork that you can encourage kids to duplicate when reading to them. It does feature the main character having a temper tantrum and making a mess, but in the end Mama convinces Llama Llama to help her shop and they make the trip more fun together. They also clean up the mess that Llama Llama made together, so if you’re the type who thinks all kids’ books should have a moral it pretty much balances out....more
Llama Llama Mad at Mama is a picture book for primary readers. Llama Llama is a really cute story and could easily become a favorite. The story is about a Llama who wants to stay home and play with his toys on a Saturday morning, but has to go shopping with his mother. Mama llama promises Llama Llama a treat if he behaves himself during their visit to the Shop-O-Rama, but that does not change the fact that he does he is not happy about going shopping. I absolutely love this book. The plot is eas...more
I have a thing for kids books that rhyme and this one is an excellent rhyming book. It tells the story of Llama Llama and Mama Llama. This one in particular is about going to the store with Mama Llama. It talks about things from little llama's perspective, all while rhyming. The best line is one that is found in other Llama Llama books. "Enough of all this Llama drama!"

The repetitive and rhyming text calls attention the Early Literacy Phonological Awareness Skill, further developing this skill in a child 4-5 years old alliteration awareness. Reading a book such as Lllama Llama mad at Mama can be an instance of joint reference and can be a fun and playful experience because the richness of the sounds found in language can be explored when the caregiver and the child have a conversation about phonology. The practices of playing and talking can be encouraged duri...more
Llama Llama Mad at Mama is another great addition to Anna Dewdney's Llama series. In this book, Llama Llama and his Mama go shopping at the Shop-o-Rama. Llama Llama does not like shopping and wants to go home!
Layla enjoyed this book - much like all of the Llama books. The cadence that Dewdney creates leads to easy reading and listening. The pictures are large and colorful and we enjoy all of the funny faces Llama Llama makes!

This book is about children’s shopping experience written by very rhyming words, best recommend to the children around age from two to five. The book shows a message that it is okay for children to have mistakes if they accept the suggestions and finally correct them. The behaviors of llama llama mad at mama are also a miscommunication between them. The illustrations in this book seem like realism. The characters are drawn very detailed; the hairs are very clear and close to the real color. In a...more
I adore the Llama Llama books, and this one was as fun to read aloud as the others, but I can't NOT say something about the huge, nearly violent, meltdown Llama Llama has in the middle of a grocery store, with little reaction from Mama Llama! It was a point of conversation at story time with my 6 year old twins and my 4 year old, who all agreed that their own Mama Llama would have never tolerated such an insane tantrum. It was worse than any wimpy parenting I've seen on Caillou, and that's sayin...more
Every parent has had at least one horrible experience in the store where a bored toddler begins to throw a fit - yelling, screaming, pulling things off the shelf. As a parent myself, I'm sure I have never handled those moments as well as Mama Llama! "Llama llama mad at mama" helps parents communicate with little ones about emotions they feel when they are bored, mad and even the love they truly feel for their mamas.

Llama Llama Mad at Mama is another book in the Llama Llama series. Children love following dramatic and grouchy little Llama as he is forced to go grocery shopping with his llama mama. This ironic because it is usually at the supermarket that children choose to exhibit their bad behavior. Readers will love the rhymes and illustrations that match the wackiness of the story. This was a fun book to read aloud to my kindergarten practicum class. Young children love this series as they are great for...more
Oh, little Llama. What was your mother thinking interrupting your play time like that? My toddler doesn't need such reasonable reasons for being mad at her mama - she'll use any ol' excuse to mimic the angry llama face on the cover of this book. And I will try hard not to giggle.

Now, before I get into it I need to say that I did enjoy the first book - Llama Mama Red Pajamas - but this one seemed to be a stretch of a sequel to a book that touched on the little llama's need for Mama at bedtime.
Llama Llama Mad at Mama shows little llama having a major meltdown in the grocery store, throwing food from the cart and creating quite a scene. Mama insists on his helping her clean up the mess before continuing their shopping trip.

This is such a cute book about Llama going shopping. Kid's can relate to this because if they were anything like me, they probably do not like going shopping with their moms or dads. It makes a great read aloud because it is relatable, and gives kids a chance to share their own similar personal experiences. It also encourages being nice and respectful, and any reinforcement of this is excellent for kids. Also, it has greg pictures of course. This series is also fun and unique because it is from...more
I seriously love this book!! This book teaches kids that even if something like going to the grocery store might not be that fun but that doesn’t mean that they can through a fit. Not everything is fun and grown ups don’t even like to do it but they have to so the better they behave and listen the faster they could get out of the store and get back home to play.
This past weekend I got to read this book to my nephews and it’s one of their favorite books. They were laughing the whole time.

Another Llama Llama favorite! As parents we have all been there, the dreaded shopping trip and the full blown tantrums. Perfect way to mirror your own child's behavior and have them see it illustrated. Its hard to deal with public tantrums and when in heat of the moment its hard to keep your cool. Wonderful book to review the situation and talk about what happens in a calm and reflective manner, next time remind them about little Llama and the not so cool incident with mama. Once again Perfect!

I really loved this book because it reminded me so much of my
two year old son. This book is a picture book written by Anna
Dewdney, and I thought it was hilarious! The little llama has to
go on a shopping trip with his llama mama but he hates to shop.
The book takes you through his journey of being wildly upset that he
has to shop, to becoming a team with his mama to make the shopping
trip more fun! I loved the rhyming in it, too!
