Indie books, I've discovered, have a feel. This is a wonderful book, hopeful and sensitively written. There is something truly nourishing and magical about the sisters in this story and their growing relationship with the abuelas who watch over them. The story is also very atmospheric -- you do feel as if you have entered another country where the rules and rhythms of life are appealing, but different.
