Yay!

I had to get that off of my chest. After a dry spell where I was less than happy with most of the new books I have read, I was overjoyed to get my hands on a good one. And Devoured by Darkness is good, indeed.

First off, not to sound preachy, but I think Alexandra Ivy is a hidden jem. With the exception of a somewhat shaky first book, her Guardians of Eternity series is excellent. Really excellent. Yet for some reason, a lot of the time they tend to slip under the radar for a lot of readers,...more

Review:
Devoured of Darkness picks up where we left of Tane- a vampire assassin chasing Laylah, a jinn mongrel wanted by the Commission.

Little did Tane realize just what he is in for when he does catch up with Laylah. For as long as he could remember his job was to hunt down vampires-his brothers and take them out when they became addicted and fall into bloodlust.

Laylah spent most of her life in hiding from all sorts of demons threatening to turn her into the Commission plus she was hiding a secr...more

"They are the Guardians of Eternity, strong, skilled, seductive vampires chosen to protect—and to destroy. And they will risk anything to fulfill their duty, and satisfy their desires..."

This book was an excellent addition to the Guardians of Eternity series!

Tane the oh so sexy and dangerous Charon, hunter and killer of rouge vampires, who we last saw in Beyond the Darkness taking the opposite tunnel to chase down a jinn. Now we see him as he has caught up with the beautiful and elusive Laylah,...more

Devoured by Darkness starts where Beyond the Darkness ends in that Tane is chasing a half breed Jinn mongrel. This one was not as engaging as others in the series. I started off being pulled in, but then it turned into a book I needed to finish to move on to the next in the series.

Tane is a Charon, a vampire charged with killing vampires who have gone rogue. Dame he is one sexy vampire; wearing khaki shorts, a massive sword and nothing else.

Layla is a half breed mongrel...more

Laylah is half jinn and the law says that she should be executed for existing. Tane is a Charon, a vampire charged with killing other vampires who have gone rogue. He is sent after Laylah to bring her to the Commission but first he wants just a taste of the little half human, half demon who's scent stirs heated fantasies. But once Tane gets his hands on Laylah he just might not want to let her go. Laylah has been protecting a mysterious child for years and just now learns that there are...more

Trying to lead a pursuer away from her precious secret, Layla finally turns to face the 'leech' who has been on her tail for days. Tasked with capturing the woman who is an abomination due to her forbidden half-jinn heritage, vampire enforcer Tane inexplicably finds himself unable to carry out his duty to turn Layla over for execution. He's been trailing her, stalking her for days. He's a Charon, a rogue vampire hunter, and he's been tasked with finding the jinn halfbreed and bringing her before the Commission for elimination. Her kind is considered an abomination and against demon law. Somewhere in the middle of the hunt, however, her seductive scent has driven Tane to rethink a speedy capture and quick end to his duties. And when he runs her to ground and she whirls on him, he is both seductively attracted and...more

I really enjoy this series by Alexandra Ivy and although she does a great job in maintaining the magic created from the first book this one is not my favorite.
This is the story of Tane (the Charon) and Laylah (a Jinn Mongrel). The story picks up right from where the last one left off. This was a little difficult for me because much time has passed since I read the last book. I had to refer to the previous book to remind myself about a previous character-Caine. What happened to him in the previo...more

I absolutely loved Tane and Laylah's story...I loved Tane period. This is a fast pace, intense and moving read, with loads of sexual tension and loving. I love Levet and of course he saves the day more than once...goooo Levet.
I am so happy that I found this series, Alexandra has created a world that pulled me in right from the very first book.
I did miss characters from the other books, as Tane and Laylah were on the move for much of the story but they did visit the Annasso and his group a coupl...more

Great addition to the series. Not only did we get an amazing story with Tane and Laylah, but it set us up wonderfully for the next book and I think another future book with Caine and Cassandra???? Hope so! Anyway, I loved Tane's cockiness and how Laylah just melted away his heart without him even realizing it! The sexual energy between these two started from the fist moment they spoke to each other and you just knew that it would be "electric" when they finally consumated their attraction...and...more

This is the first book in this series that I've read and also the first one by this author. I loved it! It was one of the most enjoyable PR's that I have read in awhile. I am going to read more in this series.

Layla was chosen to protect a baby from evil, since she is half human and half Jinn, there are other creatures who are hunting for her. One of them is Tane, a vampire, who of course, is sexy, and he is also a unique vamp. When these two meet the sparks really fly,(lol)but they both have to...more

Ouah !!

I've hardly read anything over the past two weeks because everything I pick up leaves me utterly bored. Boy, am I glad that Alexandra Ivy is back with a vengeance with Devoured By Darkness. I truly needed this to return my reading mojo. I just love the world of the Guardians of Eternity. The characters are rich with too much stubborness, pride and lust. Then there is the adorable diminuative French gargoyle, Levet. What is a story without his humor? (smile). In this installment, the loner Tane h...more

The synopsis of Devoured by Darkness describes Tane perfectly: devastatingly strong, breathtakingly sensual. As a powerful Charon or vampire executioner Tane answers only to Styx, the powerful vampire King. Tane is both feared and hated by his kin and by choice leads an isolated existence. Tane is of Polynesian ancestry, he has honey gold eyes and black hair, he is one with nature, I found him extremely seductive and animalistic.

As a halfbreed demon and human Laylah has unique, but unpredictable...more

I'm so happy I saved this book until now. This story really brightened up my Christmas. I did not think I would enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed Salvatore and Harley's story but surprisingly I did. Eventhough we had met Tane, Charon of the Anasso in Darkness Unleashed (Jagr and Regan's story) I still could not picture him clearly in my minds eye. I felt that he was somewhat a trumped up Raven. I was completely wrong. The Charon was in effect the executioner of the Anasso but his main duty wa...more

Laylah is a mongrel – half Jinn/half gypsy – who is on the run from almost everyone in the demon world. After all, everyone knows Jinn half-breeds are evil and there is a standing order for anyone who captures her to turn her over to the council for judgment. There’s only one problem. Laylah is major part of a prophecy – on her actions rests the fate of the world.

Kane is a vampire charon – an assassin set after Laylah. He intends to either haul her in or kill her. She’s a job, nothing more. Then...more

Guardians of Eternity, Book 7

Paranormal action romance that starts pretty much at the end of book 5, Darkness Unleashed. At that point there are two tunnels and two sets of people being pursued. Salvatore took one branch and the results of that choice are detailed in book 6, Beyond The Darkness. Tane took the other branch and his adventures are covered in this book. That said... this has all the marks of a 'bridging' [one which sets up for future stories] book. It seemed to have less action than...more

Devoured by Darkness

This was my first experience with Alexandra Ivy's writing and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! Enjoyed the world that was created as well as the characters and I had a lot of laugh-out-loud moments as well. I thought the story was pretty interesting and although I missed a lot of back story as this was the seventh installment, I still liked the book and the romance in general. That being said, I did have some issues with the book that has caused me to change from a 4-star rating to a 3....more

I truly like Ivy's Guardians of Eternity series. I do. I like it. Do I LOVE them? Not quite. It's hard to compare with JR Ward's Blackdagger Brotherhood. The books are building up the storylines of several characters (that is one thing I love about this series) and there is an ongoing "bad guys" storyline that has been built up over the past 2 or 3 books.

In this book, the Charon vampire Tane chases after the Jinn half-breed Layla. Certainly nothing new and groundbreaking in their romance, but s...more

This is the 7th book in the Guardians of Eternity series and it was just as good as the previous books. This book picked up right where the last book left off with Tane (a Charon vampire) chasing after a half jinn named Laylah. Laylah is intent on leading Tane away from her past lair where she was held captive by the cur named Caine. Tane is curious as to why she is leading him away and he begins to suspect she is protecting a child.

When Laylah finds out that there are other Jinn in London she d...more

Tane is YUMMY! His story begins in the previous story, where he is chasing Layla thru the tunnels after she kills a cur. Her only reason for killing was self defense and her need to keep her secret. The child she is protecting may be the most dangerous being to enter this world. But Layla only sees an innocent child. Tane is drawn to Layla's vulnerability and spunk. I liked the two of them, the story is fast paced and enjoyable. Several of the previous couples make appearances in this story and...more

My Thoughts

This book takes up with some of the mysteries the last book left us. Tane is the sexy and dangerous Charon we met in the last book, and now he's on the trail of a forbidden mongrel. Laylah is a Jinn/human hybrid that has been in hiding her entire life. Now she has a new problem with an irresistible vampire that is duty bound to hand her over to the ruling powers of the demon world. What neither one of them expects is the undeniable attraction that the...more

Towards the end of Beyond the Darkness Tane is chasing a half breed Jinn mongrel. That is where this book picks up. Tane in all of his mostly naked sexiness is still chasing Laylah, the Jinn mongrel through the underground tunnels. I LOVE the fact that this man does not wear much more than khaki shorts and nothing else. Who needs shoes or a shirt? I’m still trying to figure out exactly where the sword and daggers fit on his attire. He realizes during his pursuit that she is not just running fro...more

Alexandra Ivy's clear, smooth writing style and the intensity of the characters in this book worked well together as the reader is taken on a journey with the mongrel Jinn, Laylah, and the tormented Charon, Tane, as they battle to save the world from the enslavement of dark forces.

The characters are compelling and emotionally driven, and the tension between them is palpable from the very beginning as Tane finds himself led around the world by the mongrel he was sent to capture and turn over to...more

Ini cerita tentang Tane, vampir charon (vampir pembunuh) yang sedang sibuk ngejar Jinn , bernama Laylah (aku ga suka namanya)....
Tane ini ga suka pake sepatu, gak suka pake baju, pakaiannya cuma celana pendek khaki doang....dengan rambut mohawk (reminds me of Rehvenge)....
Aduuh biasanya kan vampir keren2 bjunya, yg ini bener2 deh...minimalis...eh ternyata si Laylah juga suka dandan minimalis dengan rambut cepak, celana pendek dan tank top...hmpft..jadi,cocoklah mereka....

Laylah ini punya misi menc...more

I was very happy to read about Tane. So in this book the Charon Tane and the half demon Laylah are in the focus of the story. Tane is a Charon, a killer who is trained to kill rogue vampires. And Laylah is a half demon. Both are alone in this world and it’s a fact that melt them together. It’s a very nice story around them and the relationship between them is difficult at the beginning. But other than the storys before the woman isn’t very stubborn and didn’t want to accept the mated bond with t...more

I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt...more
