County prosecutor, Tricia Jamison is living in fear, a fear that her home will be the next target of a serial arsonist who is attacking her family. Noah Brust can’t forgive Tricia for failing to protect him on the stand a year earlier, but with each fire, he is thrown in Tricia’s path. They still feel the connection that drew them together before, can they overcome their personal struggles and forget or will they be burned by the passing of true love?

Tricia Jamison has a tough job and has seen things the average person won’t see in their lifetime. Tricia says this about her job, “Somehow she had to take joy in the small victories rather than focusing on the fact that domestic violence hadn’t ended and likely never would. She could help victims—one at a time—reclaim control of their lives.”

If only she could have that happen in her personal life. Tricia had done a great job at keeping people and her emotions under control--by shutting down rel

Shelves: suspense
I have had this book on my TBR pile for awhile and felt like a change. I enjoyed this book. I don't like heavy suspense but the Love Inspired Suspense line is just right for me. The book starts with a fire at Tricia's mother's place and we are then introduced to Noah who is still frustrated with Tricia for not protecting his father the previous year in a trial. There seems to be someone out to get Tricia's family and Noah is a fireman working to help find out who is responsible. Tricia has had s ...more

this story covered a couple of issues that brought back my past in memory so could relate with Tricia n Linda. Tricia n Noah's story was dealing with someone with a vendetta that hurt many people but the process to find this person takes time. The God factor was ok also n he gets the credit for the healing n restoration with people he places in our lives to support us.

I just finished reading it last night and I am happy to report that I enjoyed seeing how everything was going to play out. First off I really like these characters, we get to reconnect with Caleb Jamison and his girlfriend, Dani Richards from book #1, Deadly Exposure. Tricia Jamison (Caleb's sister) played a secondary role in that book and now she comes center stage as she and Caleb team up with firefighter Noah Brust to find the arsonist who is targeting her family. Can they find the connection ...more

Cara Putman's "Trial By Fire" is an engrossing, thought-provoking novel. Protagonists Tricia Jamison, a prosecutor, and Noah Brust, a firefighter, share a complicated history. They become reacquainted as a series of mysterious fires in Nebraska hit increasingly close to home. The external dangers they encounter, however, pale in comparison with the personal and internal turmoil they experience over the course of the book. I especially enjoyed Ms. Putman's tactful approach to certain issues of a ...more

I love reading Love Inspired Suspense and Cara Putman doesn't disappoint me with this latest offering.

If you read her first story in this series, you will recognize a few of the characters, but this book can also stand alone. Deputy county prosecutor Tricia Jamison is trying to move forward and help as many people as she can, but the domestic violence cases pile high.

When arsonist fires break out all over town, including the first at her mother's house, she knows she will have to get help from

This book was a gift from my daughter. She knows I can't pass up a Love Inspired Book! I really enjoyed this one. Someone kept setting fires to the property of the Jamison family. Couldn't wait to see who the person was and why he would he did it. Great read!

Average mystery although both the plot and the main characters seemed a little over-the-top. Just OK.

Note: This line of suspense/romance books from Steeple Hill are very simple, Christian and clean.
