I absolutely adored The Princes Trilogy by Elizabeth Hoyt, and was beyond happy to hear that one of the characters, Coral Smythe, who was introduced to us in The Raven Prince, was given her own short story in the novella, The Ice Princess. But don’t be fooled into thinking that this is a just a “wrapping up loose ends” story, because this actually had quite a bit of angst and detailed relationship building.
Coral, as you might recall if you’ve read The Raven Prince , is the madam of Aphrodite’s G More...

When I was reading The Raven Prince I found myself posting quotes from a prostitute named Coral Smythe.
"I can get you a night with an accomplished male whore or a virginal schoolboy." Coral's eyes widened. "Famous libertines or ragpickers off the street. One very special man or ten complete strangers. Dark men, red men, yellow men, men you've only dreamed of in the black of night, lonely in your bed, snug under your covers. Whatever you long for. Whatever you desire. Whatever you crave. A nice short story about the madam at the brothel featured in The Raven Prince. My only regret was that it wasn't a full length novel. I think Hoyt could have made this one shine as a full length story :)

3.5-4 stars. As is inevitably the case with most of these shorter novella-length stories, there wasn't enough character depth and development, even though the foundations and backgrounds for the main characters were built well. The characters were sketched well, but I would have appreciated a more fully drawn picture of them.
We met Coral Smythe in Hoyt's The Raven Prince, in which her cynicism and bold personality set her apart from the other secondary characters. I'm not a fan of mistress or co More...

This was a sweet little ebook. If you read The Raven Prince, then you probably had questions about Coral Smythe the newest madame over Aphrodite’s Grotto. This is her story. Stern Navy's captain, Isaac Wargate, has been coming in these last two years to round up his men at Coral's establishment. She has to fight her attraction of the tall blue-eyed Navy man, after all who can resist a man in uniform. After a strange twist of fate, Coral has agreed to 7 nights of utter sin with the captain, at th More...

I absolutely loved this series so this was a wonderful treat! I thought the author did a good job with the fallen women aspect since usually am not a huge fan of that story line but this time I really enjoyed it!
The more I read by this author the more I love her!

"You're so beautiful I am awe-struck. I want to lay beside you and simply watch you sleep. I want to hold you in my arms and make you tremble."

I enjoyed this novella. Had it been a full-length novel that allowed me to becoming better acquainted with the hero and heroine, I would have undoubtedly given it four stars.
Normally stories featuring heroine who are courtesans "cheat", in my opinion. Either the heroine is a virgin who is forced into becoming a courtesan and thus meets the hero or she is pretending to be a courtesan but is still quite the virgin or something of the sort. Coral Smyth, the "Aphrodite" of Aphrodite's Grotto, is ind More...

Coral Smythe is known throughout London's underworld as Aphrodite - the madam of London's infamous brothel Aphrodite's Grotto - but she hasn't sold her own body in two years.
She owes money to an unscrupulous man, and he plans to make her work it off on her back. One night he puts his plan in place by running a high-stakes card game with a week of sex with Coral as the prize.

I loved the Ice Princess. I actually loved it more than Hoyt's Princes trilogy, which I also majorly loved. That's a whole lot of love, practically a romance in itself.
The Ice Princess is an addition to the Princes Trilogy - a novella really - which tells the tale of Coral Smythe a mysterious and intriguing character who appears in the earlier books.
Coral is a prostitute. A high class prostitute, but a prostitute none the less. There is no But She's An Innocent Virgin Really ridiculousness here More...

Sweet, adorable story...
The Ice Princess is a wonderful, short romance.
Coral was forced into becoming a prostitute after her sister wasn't able to support them on a maid's job. After becoming the madame of a brothel, she refuses to sell her body anymore, and hasn't for two years. Until the man she owes a debt to for saving her brothel puts her up for sale for a seven day arrangement. I really admired Coral. Although s More...

My one complaint about this novella is that it’s too short. I would have loved to have read a full-length novel with these two characters.
Given the length of the book, the characters are developed remarkably well. I loved Captain Wargate’s disdain for Coral, and her profession generally, which is quickly replaced by cool concern when the owner of the brothel offers Coral as a prize in a card game- against her will. Wargate wins the game, and the rights to Coral for seven days, which she doesn’t More...

Great story! My one and BIG complain is that, at 70 pages (on my Nook, not sure how many pages it is in other ereaders), it was way too short. We were just starting to get to know and love the H/h when, before we know it, it’s 6 months later and HEA.
I’m glad to see that Coral let her defenses down to allow Isaac to win her heart..though truth be told, all the credit should really go to Isaac. Oh Isaac, he has all the makings of a the type of hero we can easily love. He was patient, kind, sweet, More...

This rates a C-. It was all right but I don't feel strongly about it. It's a short story/novella. My main objection is that I didn't buy the emotion--love--between them. Yes, they had a physical attraction, but this puritanical, moral man had no reason to love her. He didn't know her--at all. They played one game of checkers. That does not a relationship make. And she is a whore. She has been for years, and a madam. Evidently EH thinks because she's been abstinent for 2 years it wipes out the ye More...

This is part of the Princes Trilogy and includes the life of Coral whom we meet in The Raven Prince. Her character intrigued me from the moment she entered the story. She is a strong female who was dealt an unfortunate hand in life. She is forced to make a living in ways that uses her beauty to gain favors and allows her to care for herself and that of her older sister who once cared for her.

This is the story of Coral Smythe, a madam of the most famous brothel in London, Aphrodite's Grotto. She has spent her entire adulthood pleasing men and being left feeling cold. She's never been in love or felt any true pleasure for herself. It amuses her that the upright Captain Wargate, who comes to collect his men occasionally, seems to disparage and lust after her at the same time. However, when the new top shareholder of the brothel, a cruel man, offers Coral as the prize in a high stakes g More...

Elizabeth Hoyt has done it again, writing yet another compelling story. The Ice Princess is a novella sequel to her fabulous Princes Trilogy that features Coral Smythe, a secondary character from that series, as the heroine. In a less talented author's hands, I probably would not have enjoyed The Ice Princess half as much. Because of the brevity of the story, the time frame in which the events occur would admittedly be rather unbelievable in real life, but Ms. Hoyt has a More...

I haven't read the previous stories in this series but I had no problems following the overall plot. Coral Smythe is a madam and one night, she is offered up as a prize. Seven nights with Coral to the highest bidder. Captain Wargate hates hanging out at the brothel but he must look after his men and make sure they don't get into trouble. When he sees that Coral is being offered up as the grand prize, he steps in. Something about the madam draws him and the brief hint of fear on her face causes h More...

Coral Smythe, the heroine, is a madam who first appeared in the book The Raven Prince. Elizabeth Hoyt received many requests to write a story about Coral, which resulted in The Ice Princess.
The brothel, Aphrodite's Grotto, is owned by a cruel man named Jimmy Hyde. He offers Coral's services for one week to the winner of a card game. Fortunately for Coral, the game is won by an honorable man--Captain Isaac Wargate, a handsome widower who doesn't even wish to be in a brothel.

Can we say short? Can we say sweet? Yep. This sure is both. It left me wanting. I wanted MORE of this wonderful and heartwarming romance.
Without reading any of her ‘The Prince’s Trilogy’ series and always wanting to, I thought this eNovella (which was originally published in 2010 and is being offered this year as an eBook), would be a great intro to the series. I was right and I’m now looking forward to reading it.

I thought this was cleverly done, what with the title. This is the last of the Princes Trilogy, a series of romance novels where the narrative device is the retelling of British folklore that loosely parallels the events taking place in the actual romance. The first was the Raven Prince, then the Serpent Prince, then the Leopard Prince (probably my favorite one). The final part is actually a novella, and it's about a princess - the Ice Princess. A very cute way to wrap up a great trilogy by Ms. More...

I was really unsure on the rating to give this one, I suppose because it's a novella, not so developed as a full book. But I really enjoyed it. I couldn't help but feel for the heroine the way he pushed her to "make love" as opposed to "just sex", that she would fall in love with him with no hope of a relationship, she being a prostitute. It really was a sweet, wish this could really happen book, with a lovely HEA. It did actually make me cry because I felt for the heroine so much that he got he More...

This was my first experience with Elizabeth Hoyt, and it was just a little novella. I probably should have known better than to start off with a novella for a new author, but I did it anyway. And, I didn't like it.
I love reading romances. They are a great escape. I know they are cheesy and unrealistic and over the top, but I love them all the same. However, I like mine with heavy emphasis on the story and less emphasis on the sex. It wouldn't be a romance novel without it, but that shouldn't be More...

I feel like I've been subjected to an odd amount of books about prostitutes here lately. This book was as wonderfully written as all of Hoyt's books but the subject matter was not really to my liking. I had a real problem getting past the ick factor everytime they touched simply because she worked in a brothel. I know that it had been two years since she had entertained a customer but still, yuck. I can't claim not to have known what the book was about before reading, but I've been surprised bef More...

A bit like "Pretty Woman" with breeches and corsets, TIP brings readers the return of Coral Smythe, the prostitute-turned-madam featured in Hoyt's Princes series. My only real complaint with this novella is the length. I found the H to be one of the author's most compelling, and the character of Coral runs the gamut of human experience. It's sad the story wasn't given the chance to be fully developed into a full-length book, as it seems it has the potential to be a good one. Should Hoyt and her More...

Most of the time, novellas are just too short to fully develop characters, motivations, and plot twists. However, Elizabeth Hoyt has done a remarkably good job of just that in her novella “The Ice Princess.” She picks up the character of Coral Smythe, introduced in The Raven Prince, and fills in the gaps, so to speak. But even if one is unfamiliar with the previous book, the novella is sufficient to create a poignant love story between Coral and the stern but gentle Isaac, a sea captain with an More...
