This is the second novel in the Wings of Glory series, but could easily stand alone telling the story of the next brother in the Novak clan. When I read the first book in the series, A Distant Melody I fell completely in love with the writing of author Sarah Sundin and my feelings have not changed. This past spring brought a treasure with the discovery of adventure within the pages guided by Sarah. About the first book I said... This is a historical romance that has all of the elements that one'...more

Sarah Sundin has done it again. If you thought her debut novel, A Distant Melody, was good, you’ll love A Memory Between Us. It’s as good or even better. Sundin’s latest story is set in and above Europe at the height of WWII. Her gripping tale had my heart pounding as I turned the pages with a speed that rivaled the props on her hero’s B-17. And talk about a hero. Talented bomber pilot Major Jack Novak is an awesome mix of ability, bravery, and confidence—a little too much confidence at times, w...more

Major Jack Novak is featured in this book; he is the older brother to Walt, who was the main focus of Sarah’s first book in this series, A Distant Melody. I was thankful to have received a review copy of this book. I enjoyed that Sarah had Walt and Annie, which were the main characters from A Distant Melody, make an appearance in this book.

A Memory Between Us can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading A Distant Melody to get to know the Novak family up-close and personal. Unlik...more

I have a new book to add to my list of favorites and a new hero to add to my list of exemplary writers. The question is, which/who do I fuss over first? (Flipping coin...fumbling it onto floor...picking it up...flipping it again...book wins!)

When I reviewed her debut novel, "A Distant Melody," I noted that Ms. Sundin had set the bar so high, I was concerned she'd be able to match it with her second installment in the "Wings of Glory" series. I needn't have feared.

"A Memory Between Us" excels on...more

A Memory Between Us is a awesome book of the redemptive power of God! I loved the first book in this series and was absolutely amazed at this story.

A beautiful young nurse, Ruth Doherty with a no nonsense approach to life, and a no dating rule, finds herself in the sites of the great Jack Novak. He is convinced no matter what she says, he can make her fall in love with him. What he doesn't know, is that behind that frigid countenance is a young woman who is shattered and convinced she is so br...more

MY REVIEW:

Sarah Sundin has once again given us a wonderful WWII novel!

I enjoyed reading this 2nd book in the Wings Of Glory series that takes you back to the early 1940's. The storyline is thick and rich and the characters are raw with real-life emotion. You walk away with not only entertainment, but with new friends!

I greatly appreciate how A Memory Between Us is more than a relaxing read but also a spiritual challenge and encouragement with it's strong message of forgiveness and God's grace. E...more

I’m a little unsure as to what I should say about this book. I loved it so much, and there are so many great things about it that I can hardly choose just a few to talk about. But, I’ll start here: both Jack and Ruth are struggling with issues in their lives and their own character, which made them so real to me. One thing I’ve noticed about Sarah’s books is that her characters learn a lesson without the story seeming preachy or boring. She really does an excellent job with that, and the lessons...more

Amazing! Sarah Sundin has done it again.......she has created another story and made it come to life before the reader and captures the reader with the love and mercy that flows through out! I love an author like that. She pulled me instantly with the characters and the storyline, and held me til the last page. It was EXTREMELY hard to put this book down. I wanted to read through the whole book in one setting to see what finally would happen at the end!

A Memory Between Us continues the Novak br...more

A good second release in the series and while it would be helpful to have read the first one, it's not mandatory, as it can be easily read as a standalone. One again the author has done a fine job with getting the period just right, whether it's clothing, locale or military life. The characters are well developed with flawed personalities that they work on throughout the story. It's a shame from a past action for Ruth and pride for Jack. I have to admit that while I felt sorry for Ruth by the mi...more

A Memory Between Us finds Ruth Doherty and Jack Novak serving their country during World War 2. Both stationed in England, ace pilot Jack and conscientious nurse Ruth seem to have little in common. But when Jack is injured and becomes a patient in Ruth's ward, their futures begin to intertwine.

Ruth's tough outer shell conceals her need for friends and support. She can't seem to outrun her past and the shame that goes with it. Despite her challenges, her goal is to do her job well; her younger br...more

Book #2 in the series about the Novak brothers. I think this one was a little better than the first one (which I did enjoy). I liked Ruth and Jack and about halfway through I had trouble putting the book down. The only thing I had trouble with was (view spoiler)[ Ruth's stubborn insistence that GOD had to save her...it reminded me of the old joke about man caught in a rising flood. He is offered a rope, a boat and a helicopter, all of which he declines because "God will save him". He drowns, goe...more

A Memory Between Us is WWII era fiction at it's best. The romance, the setting, the dialog, and the little details the author included throughout the story had me firmly planted in the 1940s. I loved the realism of the combat, the scenes of pilots flying missions where some made it and some didn't, and the whole scenario regarding the nurses and their unpleasant pasts. The romantic tension between characters was breathtaking, too. This author really knows how to turn up the heat while at the sam...more

A Memory Between Us (Book 2, Wings of Glory) tells the story of a WWII US Air Force pilot, Major Jack Novak, Army nurse Lieutenant Ruth Doherty, and the journey that each takes to find love, forgiveness and self-worth in their relationship with God. I loved that this book followed their stories separately so that I could really get to know & fall in love with both characters. Though I haven't read the other books in the Wings of Glory series, I really enjoyed this one and feel that it is exc...more

There aren’t many historical novels that can pull off a great love story while entertaining the reader and giving them a taste of the era without overwhelming the reader.

I believe that A MEMORY BETWEEN US is one of those few books. I thought the information on WWII was interesting, but not overwhelming. It gave me just what I needed to know without making me skim. The love story was incredible. The chemistry between the characters while the memories of their past ripping at their relationship wa...more

I didn't like this book as much as I have others of hers. The characters were okay at best - they seemed like the sort of characters who are great in supporting roles, like they were in the first book, but can't really hold a narrative of their own. (view spoiler)[I was SUPER unimpressed with the slut shaming & victim blaming - which yeah, part of it was informed by the era, but not that much.

also: on another note... I'm not a fan of christian fiction books in general, depending on how expli

E não me arrependi nada!

Loved it! I thought it was a great book. I would have to say the best one out of the three. I wish she would make another set of books on what happened after each of these books. That would be nice to see:)

What I really like about these books other then that they take place during WW2. But that they have God in them. I really like that :) Even know I could see what was coming towards the end of the Book I felt so sorry for Jack and Ruth. You knew they were going to be together, but sometimes yo...more
