When she was 12, Mindy asked to go to the School like other gifted girls. Her parents sent her to another planet.

Today, Mindy’s back on Earth. She’s a mechanical genius with the Elite Hands of Justice, America’s premier superhero squad. She’s been having headaches, though, and not just because her longtime crush is flirting with a teammate. It’s not because she’s pushing t

Tekgrrl by A. J. Menden
Paranormal Romance May 26th, 2009
4 stars

Tekgrrl by A. J. Menden was a pure pleasure to read! Anyone who loves comic books come to life will enjoy this novel. This is the author’s second book following Phenomenal Girl 5. It helps to have read the first book but is really not necessary.

Tekkgrrl starts with Mindy, a human who was surgically enhanced by aliens to become the most intelligent person alive. But even though she has brains and beauty Mindy still feels inadequate b

The EHJ heroes are back after having saved the world from destruction and adverting the prophecy. They are settling back into a new routine with the Reincarnist at the helm, pointing the group back to their roots of just saving people, not worrying about publicity and fame. The new direction seems to be a good one for most of them.

Tekgrrl or Mindy as she is known in real life has decided to move on with her life and get over her childhood crush on a fellow hero. While watching him date a new he

All the glamazons in this superhero romance series are amazing. Phenomenal Girl 5 can fly and punch holes through walls. Tekgrrl is infused with alien intelligence and technology. Aphrodite is the goddess of beauty and love. And Selena embodies the power of granite (I think). Without a doubt they are all super strong, super women. But like every other human on the planet, they need a little love too. After all, even the Invisible Woman has Mr. Fantastic to keep her warm in bed at night.

I’ve stewed about this book for a few days after finishing it. Dorchester has discontinued their Shomi line, which is where this book would have been published if the line was still around. The few Shomis I’ve read I have thoroughly enjoyed. And that’s why I’ve had to stew over this one. Unfortunately, even if it were a Shomi, that wouldn’t help get it out of the woods.

The biggest problem for me with this book — and I know this isn’t going to make a whole lot of sense, but it can’t be helped, th

This is the sequel/companion to Menden’s previous Elite Hands of Justice book, PHENOMENAL GIRL 5, and follows the adventures of Mindy, aka Tekgrrl, as her life goes from weird to downright bizarre.

I find it immensely amusing that everything she wanted to happen in her life—Luke’s tender feelings, powers, romance—seemed to all happen at the same time, and not in a way she entirely wanted. Apparently, a new hairstyle, more mature attitude, and impending doom for mankind helped put her life in bett

I didn't quite enjoy this one as much as Phenomenal Girl 5, but it was still a great book anyways. In Tekgrrl, it's the same universe as Phenomenal Girl 5 but takes place shortly afterwards. The main character here is Mindy or Tekgrrl as she's known in the Elite Hands of Justice. The Elite Hands of Justice is a famous group of superhero's who are charged with saving the world. Tekgrrl has harbored an one sided love for a fellow superhero in the group since she was a kid. However, events from her ...more

This is book 2 in a superhero romance series. It's really good from the romance perspective, but the superhero part isn't as appealing to me. I do like the relationship twists this author takes - in both the first book and this one, I didn't see it coming.

This one is Mindy's, aka Tekgrrl, story. She's been hung up on Luke since her teens, but he's never returned the feeling. Just as she decides to move on, she manifests new powers and she starts to hear a voice in her head. Then Simon (a trouble

I confess - in the past I was an avid comic book reader, and this brought back all my fond memories of the comic book universe. The true romance didn't start until half way into the book, which was a nice change / misdirection. I enjoyed watching all of the characters grow as the book progressed. It reminded me of Jinx by Jennifer Estep. If you enjoyed this book, other titles you might like include Carrie Vaugh's After the Golden Age and the Dirk and Steele novels by Majorie Liu (this series alw ...more

Finished this a month or so ago and forgot to change its Goodreads status. I enjoyed it and I don't think it was automatically necessary to have read the book that came before it, Phenomenal Girl 5, to appreciate this one. The plot of this book and the hero didn't turn out the way I expected, which is why it felt like urban fantasy as much as a standard paranormal romance. But it did have an HEA.

It was much better than I was expecting. I had to re-think (re-visualize) one of the characters since in my mind I saw him as a balding, glasses-wearing fifty-something man. In the story he was much younger and buff.
