I won this.

When I first looked at the cover and the title.. I expected something less about sex. But the whole damn novella was full of it. And yeah, I'm calling it a novella. Be glad I don't call it simply "it".

Yet another story where I can't get how people give it a good rating. It was, basically, much sex.

Who’s afraid of The Big Bad Wolf! The Big Bad Wolf! I remember chanting that reading the story of little red riding hood! On her way to Grandma’s! Alison Paige's latest release Little Red and The Wolf was my first read of an Urban Fairy Tale, but my second read on Alison's. Having read Tame Horses Wild Hearts a few months ago I new that I had found a new author that I could follow and not be disappointed. I enjoy her writing style for one and appreciate her ability to give the reader just enough back story to understand the essence of the characters without overwhelming us to endless flashbacks. I enjoy her writing style for one and appreciate her ability to give the reader just enough back story to understand the essence of the characters without overwhelming us to endless flashbacks. I for one am appreciative. In the story of "Little Red" or Maizie she is an independent woman, so much so that she has found herself in quite a financial hole.
Maizie has her own bakery business but she struggles to turn a profit when she is so in debt. Trying to keep her Grandmother in a good home, keep her cottage, her business and still have money to feed herself is really starting to weigh on her. Having been raised the last 21 years by her Gran since her parents death she refuses no matter what to sell the cottage or land surrounding it no matter how much the sneaky Anthony Chadwick tries to per se her. In the mist of all her own financial drama Maizie runs into Gray Lupo a.k.a. Gran's Silver Wolf. All her life she has told Maizie some far fetched, haunting and extraordinary stories about the her silver wolf putting a fear into Maize to stick to certain trails and not to venture into the wolf sanctuary neighboring Gran's land. Attracted to the older man Maize feels it in her bones that there is something very dangerous and very secretive going on with Gray. Little does Maize know the truth about the big bad wolf who she has grown up to next door. Gray Lupo is a very powerful man, nearing 76 years old he looks mid forties, those werewolf genes will do wonders for your complexion. Bitten by his wife, a werewolf he has accepted his role as alpha of their pack with a heavy heart at times. Continually his young nephew threatens to challenge him, his sister in law tried to seduce him and now the pack is after Maize. Like Gray didn't have enough on his mind trying to fight his attraction and the magnetic pull towards Maize you can feel Gray's heart breaking inside. He feels that he must avoid her at all costs, after all her parents killed his wife all those years ago and he has avoided what he knows is true in his heart. Maize is his one true mate.What happens next rocks Gray's world, Maize is attacked and bitten by someone in his pack. Maize who I loved from the first few pages has a quite panic about her when she first discovers that she is actually turning. Into a wolf! She can't believe it, but overcome by the painful transitions only leads to her acclimating to her new form.... wolf. A beautiful red wolf who can't stop chasing her tail. Alison really added a brilliant amount of humor in some of the most dramatic of situations as the characters try to work through all their challenges. If Maize thought this was her only problem, she was sadly mistaken. Not only is she a wolf, but Gray is pushing her away and she doesn't know why, only to learn the heard way that he blames her and her parents for the murder of his wife. Not wanting to face the past and truth Gray isn't there for Maize when she needs him most. To make matters worse, Maize believes that someone is trying to pose as her dead father to try and get her Grandmother to sell her cottage and property. Throughout the story you not only are able to make an emotional connection with Gray and Maize but some of the pack as well as Gran. All the character's no matter how small their role add wonderful and entertaining elements of humor and suspense to the storyline. Making for a very captivating and addictive read. Alison Paige has created an indulgent & salacious read that will make you rethink the old take of Little Red Riding Hood. I always knew there was a much deeper story, and the author lured me into a truly magical and paranormal world of shifters that I can truly never get enough of.

Even before these two get their hot little hands on each other they have alot of steamy fantasies about each other. Maize and Gray also have a connection to a very tragic event in their past that keeps them away from each other at first. But as someone starts trying to trick Maize's Granny into selling her cottage and land in the woods, which Granny loves dearly, Maize has more run-ins with Gray. Gray's land and wildlife preserve is next to Granny's cottage and Granny refers to Gray as "her silver wolf". Granny was my favorite character by far, good sense of humor and she had no issues with teasing Maize about her big bad wolf.

While the sexing is hot in this book, the mystery of who is trying to steal Granny's land is frustrating since the details are revealed to the reader but Maize has to figure it out on her own. More often than not she ends up blaming Gray, at one point you just hope she'll give Gray a break and realize who the real bad real estate tycoon is. Maize and Gray also share a tragic event in their past and Gray blames himself and in part blames Maize for his wife's death over 20 years ago when Maize's parents ran into Gray's wife in wolf form. Gray's guilt really holds him back from being alpha to his pack and from being Maize's mate and he feels this guilt for most of the book. I think if he would of realized that it wasn't his fault and manned-up earlier in the book it would have been a more enjoyable read.

After Maize is turned, the scenes written of her first experiences as a werewolf were very well done. The descriptions of the sounds and scents of the wood were very evocative. You get a very primal feel for her wolf (which is red of course) and the "mating dance" of Gray and Maize was very entertaining. Maize wasn't about to submit to Gray's alpha wolf and she made him work at being her mate.

This was a 3 out of 5 stars for me, there was some naughty werewolf action going on but I never felt I really connected with Gray or Maize. (less)

I am always intrigued by 'grown up' versions of my favorite fairy tales; that being said, this book was really awesome! Werewolves.

I'm not very familiar with werewolves.. but it really doesn't bother the storyline.

This was a weird little love story. There was a Granny, a Red Riding Hood, and a Big Bad Wolf.

Granny and the Wolf are in cahoots. Big Bad Wolf is just trying to protect his pack.

Little Red's trying to take care of her Granny and her floundering Bakery biz.

Big Bad Wolf has it all covered.

This book started off pretty good but towards the middle it began to take a quick route to trashville. The ending was anti climatic and big let down. I found that I had to force myself to finish the book. I loved SO much about the book: the characters and the plot were cool, but there are a couple scenes that really bugged me. One was a lesbian scene that came out of the blue and had no follow up in terms of the character involved. Before that there was a small scene with a sister in law-the main character pleasuring her because he was the alpha-even though he had no interest in her at all sexually. It just seemed to me an awkward addition to the story.

This book is up in my favorites. I got it at the library not really expecting much. The cover looked interesting but I expected something cheesy and not as great as it actually was.

By the time I was done the first chapter I was hooked, and when I finished, this was close to my expression description

All i'm saying is OMG,I'm not much of a reader but this book opened an interest in me i didn't think i had. The way the whole book started caught my interest and it was hard to put down its really really steamy. I mentioned to a friend that if she reads this book she will have to have someone lined up to satisfy the urges that will be awoken in oneself.

I thought this eread was so entertaining. I like werewolves and enjoy when writers tell parts of the story from the furry perspective. Ms. Paige wrote such cute scenes regarding Little Red's transistion and her encounter with Gray in the woods. The scene where Little Red was in the cottage and Gray kept sniffing up her dress was priceless. I found myself smiling and giggling throughout this book. The dialogue was hot and sweet. Disjointed, unbelievable in not good ways, like a why would ANY one of semi sane mind not question certain things, or put up with other things or have some inkling of what was going on. Weird cause you could sense the authors innate storytelling ability but it didnt come through.

It was definitely an interesting read even though at time I was pulled out of the story. I liked the characters though the way some of them were written left something to be desired. The plot was simple and it felt forced at times, but as a whole, it was a pleasant read.

I am having a difficult time writing this review. Little Red and the Wolf was a likeable book and sexy as hell! However, I was somewhat irritated by the "in your face" references to the fairy tale. For example, one of the main characters is name Gray Lupo ( the gray wolf)and the Little Red riding hood is actually called "Little Red." I think a little sublety would have been nice.
