The best story in this collection describes a world similar to the one in the recent Bruce Willis film Surrogates - for all I know, it may have inspired it. Everyone sits at home in their little apartment, plugged into a total sensory monitoring system which allows them to control their own humanoid robot. You experience everything through the robot, and live your life through it.

A collection of Laumer short stories, typically fast paced, imaginative, witty, gritty, funny... classic Laumer. I liked them all, a couple were really good, one was outstanding.

I'm not a fan of short stories, but these are very entertaining. Silly sci-fi with lots of humor. A pleasant summer read.

John Keith Laumer (9 June 1925–23 January 1993) was an American science fiction author. Prior to becoming a full-time writer, he was an officer in the U.S. Air Force and a U.S. diplomat. His brother March Laumer was also a writer, known for his adult reinterpretations of the Land of Oz (also mentioned in Keith's The Other Side of Time).
