It’s a Sandra Boynton book, so it’s almost not worth reviewing. You know it’s going to be 5 stars. However, this Boynton book stands out enough from the already-exalted pack that I think it’s worth a review.
Basically it’s a poem of animals and the sounds they make. “A cow says moo, a sheep says baa” until you get to the surprising line “three singing pigs say la la la.” Hilarity ensues. Really!

My wife and I consider Moo, Baa, La La La to be our daughter Charlotte's first favourite book. There was a point in time, not so long ago, when the only sounds that would calm her down in the evening (or on a bad car ride, or after a fall, or any other general sookfest) were my wife or I reciting this book. Now that Charlotte's a little bit older (15 months at the time of this writing) she still loves the book, and has taken to finishing the sentences as we read along (or recite from memory).

I read this book aloud several times a day to babies and toddlers! I have it memorized; I can grunt this animal noise poem on command. And I'm getting better giving classes (yes classes?!) to drooling, curious babes, some who can't even sit up on their own. You'd be amazed how under 1 year olds can and will sit in a circle and pay attention and interact. We certainly have to keep busy on the 10 1/2 hour nursery shift.

This picture book is intended for nursery aged kids. It teaches children the sounds animals make in a fun and predictible way. I really like this book because it is fun. I have read it so much that I now have it memorized. The pictures are cute and simple but the kids know what is coming up next by what animal is on the page. The only thing I don't understand is that at the end of the book she says " it's quiet now, what do you say" and I never understood what she meant by that. Like w...more

We got this with my oldest and each of the kids has loved it as much as he did. I think it's rather silly (as in kind of dumb) but they repeatedly ask for it and since it's a kid book and not an adult book I'll respect their opinion.

Random silliness.
I'm a big fan of Boynton's But Not the Hippopotamus, so I had high hopes when I saw that many people listed these two together as favorites. While the illustrations are excellent (Boynton classic), I didn't feel like this book had nearly the whimsy of the hippo book. It's basically a rhyming animal sounds book, with the only slightly humorous part given away in the title. Another funny Boynton book, this one is about the noises different animals make. Introducing humor for very young children, she surprises the reader by having singing pigs say "La la la" instead of "oink." On the following page she suggests that the reader correct those pigs. This is a nice book for young toddlers, but the joke is simple enough that it won't last long into toddlerhood, and won't interest older siblings. An untouchable classic. The variety of animals (and their sounds) keeps the youngest readers interested, the bouncy meter keeps the adult readers engaged, and it didn't stay around too long to exhaust grandparents who might have limited wind power to create the optional honks/calls/screeches, etc.
I have given this as a present to many new parents, and it's always well received (and immediately becomes a favorite of the child).

This was my babies favorite book from the time he was about seven-months-old until. He still picks it out a couple of times a month as a bed time books. By the time he was 18-months-old he would "read" the book with me, and make all of the animals noises. A simple, charming, delightful read that was a staple of our night-time routine for a over a year. I highly recommend this as a first book for story time.
Oh how I appreciate Sandra Boynton and her writing style. Her books are unpredictably funny and a definite in the library of any child. I appreciate the rhyme and rythm in each of her books, making it enjoyable for this mom to read them aloud to her daughter. I am so glad I discovered her as a children's author, and plan to own every last one of her books, for my daughter's sake of course, in due time.
This book was given to me by a dear friend when she found out my husband & I were expecting. It is her favorite book to read to her little nieces, and I now understand why! Even at only a few months old, Miri smiles and laughs at all the silly animal noises we make when reading it to her. It's so cute, and I really enjoy reading this with her. A big winner!
This book goes through the different animals and what sounds they make. The book is done in a traditional Sandra Boynton way and is a lot of fun to read. I think it is good for infants because there aren’t many words on the pages and they help a baby learn the animal sounds. It is a board book with fun pictures that a baby would enjoy looking at.
An absolute delight, Moo Baa La La La is playful introduction to common animals in most children’s lives from a cow saying moo to dogs bow wowing and chasing after meowing cats. The cartoonish drawings and the play with pigs saying “La La La” instead of “oink” seems to play right to a child’s desire to say counter what the adult says with “No!”, a favorite phrase in the 0 to 2 set.
My son Loved this book around the age of one till two... it was the first book where he memorised all the words and was the book he'd ask me to read a million times over. Lucky for me the words are easy to remember and I could read the story to him from memory while doing other things. This is a must have book for baby-toddler.
Moo, Baa, La La La is a fun book concerning different animal sounds. Written with a rhyme scheme, this book teaches children what animals say. Adding to the humor, the pigs say la la la, which the text even says isn't right. This book is designed for younger children, but it is a great book for any classroom.
This is one of our very, very favorites, and is one of two books that helped us learn so many animal noises. It was one of the first books we read interactively with Mommy, chiming in with all of the animal noises. The rhymes are so catchy; Mommy likes them as much as we do.
I love, love, love doing the animal sounds as I read this poem and it effectively mesmerized my children. I read it to my daughter about 75 times once while stuck in a horrible traffic jam and she enjoyed it every time. My youngest is 11 and I still know this by heart.
Always a family favorite, now being enjoyed as a read-to-myself rather than a mommy-reads-it book. I also have a digital format for my phone, and was amused as my 5 year old made all the noises and tried to make the illustrations move in the print copy.
Absolutely hilarious. This is a short board book that you won't mind your toddler demanding that you read over and over again. After the 20th or so reading, by which time I had memorized the thing, I realized that it reads like a poem (a good thing).

We have a collection of Sandra Boynton's books and all of them are great- that's why we have a collection. I have fun sounding out the characters and my daughter gets a kick out of it. Lots of giggles and good times.
Clearly my favorite author, Sandra's pictures of animals make it so easy for Mom and Dad to teach me animal sounds. Her books are goofy and fun, and have the power to completely distract me from anything unpleasant.

Maddie's favorite book, we have it memorized!! We could read this 20 times a day and she would still love it, she loves to hear the rhyme and loves when we emphasize the sounds of the barn animals.
A moving narrative that highlights the circle of life in understandable, free-market terms while placing a sunnier patina on the darker side of the meat and poultry industry.
LOVE Sandra Boynton! She is a master of rhythm and rhyme! Darling illustrations and clever humor! Another one in my "board book" collection! The children love her too!
Because it is my 1 year old's favorite, it is my favorite! Some other dogs say Bow, wow, wow. I love it when she reads along. I've got a little smarty pants!
